Robert Helps

After breakfast Robert calls and tells me that he is coming. He is going to help at the nursery.

There is a bush growing in the front yard,  He cut off all of the suckers and loaded them in the truck.  What is left is a small tree instead of a bush.
Before he left we got the selfie.
We picked two small pots of figs.  Robert took one home and we gave one to Richard Darnel.
I wanted to mow the lawn, but lawnmower was broken.  The belt that runs the blades came loose.
I called Richard Darnel, and he came over and fixed it.  I was able to mow the lawns. The front lawn grass was really tall.  I had some of the grass west of the driveway left when the lawn mower quit. I drove the lawnmower over to Richard's house.  He fixed it again.  I then finished the mowing.  Robert pulled up all of the onions in greenhouse six.  He laid them out in groups to cure.  We labeled some of the dahlias in house two that we wanted to keep.  Robert fixed the drip tape in greenhouse one.

This afternoon I dug up then puncture weeds.  Later we took them to the dump.
The power line broke loose from the north end of the greenhouse two.  I called out neighbor to take a look at it.  He has a friend that could fix it.
I cut down all of the sunflowers that are growing in the dahlia garden.
I backed the truck where most of the sunflowers are growing.  I cut them down and loaded them in the there was a little gray kitten in the front yard.  I saw it running west in the north garden.

Busy Irrigating

I went up to the irrigation ditch.  I was to get the water at eight this morning.  I waited for quite some time.  Carol drove up to see why the water was coming.  I went back to the house and called the water master; I then went up to the ditch.  He was there and turned down the water.

Five eggs this afternoon.
I couldn't get water up to the sweet corn.  The water tap was plugged.  I unscrewed it cleaned out the sticks and leaves.  The water came shooting out.  It took me a long time to screw the water tap back on.
Here is another photo of the water tap.
A close up of the tap that I unsecured.

Destroyed Cat House

After breakfast this morning, I walked out to the south garden, The force of the wind had caused some of the sweet corn to blow over,

I removed the plywood from the bottom deck of the cat house,

There was a large cantaloupe at the post office, we took it home. Carol cut it open.  I cleaned some of the seeds and they are drying on the kitchen counter.  I am waiting for someone to give me its name,
This is a picture of the location of the cat house.
Another picture of the back porch where the cat house was located.
There was two parts of the cat house.  I put it in the back of the truck.  I will be taking it to the dump

Some of the sweet corn blew over in the wind during the night.  I used some twine and stakes to hold it up. There are two pictures.  I watered the plants in greenhouses one and five, calico showed up on the front porch we took some water and cat food to him.  I was able to rub his back, It seemed like he liked it.

Quick Trip

As soon as breakfast was over, we drove to Fillmore and filled the car with gas and from there we drove to the Timpanogos temple.  We left our temple suitcase there yesterday; Carol waited in the car while I went into the temple.  I wanted to talk to the assistant recorder.  He was busy checking young couple who were getting married. I did get to talk to another temple worker.  I told him about the suitcases. We were told that they were in the laundry room.  He led me down some steep steps.  He then took me into a large laundry room.  There was a lot of women there.  The suitcases were there, we then road the elevator to the recommend desk.  Carol was waiting for me. We then went to Carol's sister for a short visit. On the way home we stopped at Walmart to return the kitchen timer.

I put out some olive oil and put a brick on it so the cats can't eat it.
I looked on the internet for the kitchen time.  Most everyone that commented that they liked it.  I took a screen shot showing one minute.  No matter how I tried, I could not get it to show any minutes, While we were gone, Robert pruned the grape plants in greenhouse five.  I watered the plants in greenhouses one and five.  I also watered the baskets, tubs, dahlias, and geraniums.
Here is a pretty dahlia.  calico showed up on the front porch for supper

What a Day

It was a little before seven we were leaving Holden.  I forgot my phone.  We turned around and went back to the house.   The rest of the way was uneventful.  We stopped to pick up Carol's sister, Nyleen.  She didn't have her things ready.  Carol helped her some.  We then drove to Timpanogos temple.  The girls got out.  I found a parking spot close by.  After the session, we took Nyleen home.  She had a sack lunch ready for us.  We ate it on the way home.  When we got home, we couldn't find our temple bags.  Carol called someone at the temple.  She didn't know anything about the bags. Carol's name was on her bag and my bag was a dark gray.  Later she called back and said that they have been located.  They were in the laundry room.  We will pick them up in the morning.

I killed a lot of yellow jackets with the dawn soap and water solution that were on the front of the house.

This evening I watered all of the sweet corn.  I picked three ears of sweet corn.
One of the corn stalks fell over.  I drove a conduit pipe in the ground and fastened it with a zip tie.

Tuesday Morning

This morning I opened the front door.  Calico was not there.  I showered, dressed, and opened the front door.  There he was.  I fed the cats at the back door and then brought some water and cat food at the front door.

Here he is eating and has some water.
Here is another picture.  He let me rub his back and head.  A sad note.  One of the kittens was laying on the ground.  I touched her,  she didn't move.  Came back later and picked her up with the shovel.  She started to cry.   The next time I checked her, her body was stiff.  I buried her by the corn patch.  I cleaned the frying  pans that we use for cat food.  I put water in each pan and put them on the stove.  I brought each one to aboil.    I watered most of the plants in greenhouses one and five,

This afternoon I watered the geraniums and tomato plants in the north garden.

Another cat died during the night.  I got a shovel and picked up the cat.  I dug a hole by the sweet corn and buried the cat.  I then started to water sweet corn and tomato plants. I also watered the tomato plants in greenhouse one and some the plants in greenhouse five.

I got the vacuum and began to suck up the yellow jackets.   I got some but most of them left when the wand came close to them.  Later I made a dawn soap and water solution that kills yellow jackets.  I put the solution in a small hand held sprayer.   It really works,

Sunday

We were a little late arriving at church.  We had to sit on a bench that was several benches behind where we usually sit.   The speakers were missionaries that have recently returned home from their missions.  After we got home we had a good dinner.
