Sunday Morning

We watched the morning session of conference.  The speakers and the choir were really good.  Carol cooked a couple of beef Stakes.  We also had baked potatoes. We then watched the afternoon session of conference.  We thought that they would announce a new president of the church, but they didn't.  That will probably be done after the funeral of President Nelson.  This evening, we watched TV.  I watered some of the plants.  Most of the speakers spoke of the divinity of Jesus Christ.  Calico showed up tonight.  Carol gave some cat food and water.

Conference

General conference today.  There were three sessions.  The speakers were really good.

This morning Carol wanted me to put the pumpkin boards.  we have had them for a long time.  They were in the garage.  Lisa gave us the pink mums.
Calico, the cat showed up this morning.  She has been missing for several days.  I gave her some water and cat food.  I was able to rub her back while she was eating. We had a good rain today.

Gas Line

 

I watched the morning news this morning.  After breakfast I watched the morning TV shows.  When that was over, we drove to Fillmore and filled the car with gas.  We then bought some groceries and then went home.  We had warm overs for lunch.  I watered the plants.

I called the gas company yesterday. They said that they would turn on the gas today which was yesterday.  I went out and checked it this afternoon.  It wasn't turned on.
I picked three ears of sweet corn, we had it for supper.  it was really good.

More Tomatoes

After I dressed, I made a new batch of old fashion mush.  Carol got up, started the washing machine and the showered.  We watched some of the morning TV shows.  At ten, we watched a tribute to President to President Russel M. Nelson recently died.  The talks and music were inspiring.  The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square performed.  Carol made grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch.  After lunch I picked more tomatoes.  We are taking some for-Carol's sister in Linden.   The patio was covered with leaves.  I got the cordless blower and began to blow off the leaves.  The battery died before I finished,  I used a shovel to remove most off the leaves.  Behind a large plywood board there was a dead cat.  It had been there a long time.  All that was left were bones and fur.

I took it out to the south garden and buried it.  I have buried several cats there.  The above photo doesn't show the skull.

Beautiful Rain

 

After breakfast we watched the morning TV shows. I got some onions that were in greenhouse six.  I cleaned them and took them to the post office. Early this afternoon, there was thunder and a lot of rain, It was running off the roof.  There is a pan on the patio which contain nearly one half inch of water.

Tomatoes

 After breakfast I picked tomatoes.  Carol washed them and set them out to dry, later this morning we drove to Fillmore.  We stopped at the drug store.  Carol bought a bunch of birthday cards.  There was a short older woman there.  She had on a face mask, and she wanted to visit with Carol.  We then went to the Fillmore market and bought some groceries.  That same woman was there also.  We avoided her.  We then came home, and 

I went out to the south garden and picked some peaches and sweet corn.  I five pretty good ears.  Carol cooked two ears for supper.

Carol started preparing the tomatoes.  She put them in boiling water for a short time.  She then pulled of the skin and put them in quart bottles.  They were put in pan of boiling water where they boiled for 50 minutes, We had sweet corn and omelets for supper.   Elisabeth called.  Carol answered.  She talked for some time and then I talked to Elisabeth.

Update

Saturday:  

trip to Fillmore.





Sunday:

I turned on the TV to see who won the football game.  The first thing I saw was the announcement that President Nelson had died.  I then found that BYU won the ball game.  After breakfast Carol took took me to choir practice.  We had a good practice, but there were not many there. After. We found out that it was fast day.   After sacrament meeting Carol went to relief society meeting and went to priesthood meeting in the primary room.   Carol fix dinner

Mowed Lawn

After breakfast this morning we to Fillmore and filled the car with gas,  We got a few groceries at the Fillmore market.  Before we went home, we bought hamburgers and fries,  We ate the fries, and half of the hamburger.  the other half was put in the fridge,  After lunch I mowed the lawns.

After I finished mowing I parked the mower in the shed.  At the top right you see some of the Christmas items.
I picked two ears of Peaches and Cream sweet corn.  The tasted so good.  I looked on the back porch for Calico several times.  She finally showed up.  I gave her some cat food and water.  We able to rub her back.  She seems to like it, she ate some and now she is gone,

Timpanogos

After I showered this morning, I put on my church shirt and pants.  I then made some old fashion oatmeal mush.  I fed the cats.  I fixed breakfast.  It was a little after seven when we left Holden.  We then drove to Linden where we picked up Carol's sister, Nyleen. Afterthe session we took Nyleen home.  She made us a sack lunch which we ate on the way home.  After we got home, I picked some sweet corn.

Cold Morning


This morning when I got up, the temperature in the house was 69 degrees.  I showered, dressed, and fed the cats.  Carol got up a little later.  I fixed breakfast.  After breakfast I watered the plants in greenhouse five.  I picked three figs; we watched some of the morning TV shows.  I had hard time staying awake.  I got some grapes which were in the fridge.  I ate some which helped me to stay awake.

We drove to Fillmore where we bought some groceries.  While there wee met some friends.  We worked with while serving in the Manti Temple.  On the way home we stopped at Fillis.  I bought two ice cream cones which we ate on the way home. We ate pizza for lunch.   I watered the baskets on the front porch, the geraniums in the kidney and dahlias west of the driveway.   I opened the front and there was Calico.  Carol gave her some cat food and water.   The temparture jn the house was 73 when we went to bed.

Monday & Tuesday

 Monday:

After breakfast we washed the sheets.  While that was going on I helped Carol with funeral potatoes.  She put them in the oven to bake.  We put on our Sunday clothes and went to the viewing of Dean Larsen who died few days ago.  We then came home and watched the funeral on ZOOM.  The services were inspiring because the speakers spoke on the plan of salvation.  

Tuesday:

Carol put this flower puzzle together.  I took her a couple of days.
I picked some peaches and cream sweet corn.  A racoon or skunk ate part of one.  We ate some for supper.  It is very good. 
I cut down a lot of the corn stalks in the south garden.

Busy Sunday

After breakfast Carol took me to choir practice.  I then met Carol in the chapel, One speaker was a return missionary who did a good job.  Sunday school was okay, We then went home for a good dinner.  Later we put on our Sunday and went to ministering session with the elder's quorum president.  We then went to the viewing for Dean Larsen.  We then went home.  I helped Carol make funeral potatoes.

More Gas

Yesterday 

we went to the Timpanogos temple.  We picked up Carol's, Nyleen and went to the temple.  After the session we took Nyleen back home.  |On the way home, we stopped at Walmart for some groceries.  We then drove straight home.

Today

I made a new batch of old fashion oatmeal mush.  We watched the morning news and TV shows.  We then drove to Fillmore for gas and some groceries; I watered the baskets and tubs on the front porch. I also watered the plants in greenhouse five.   Just before we went to bed, Calico showed up.  We fed her and then went to bed.

Ward Harvest Dinner

 


After breakfast I watched two of the morning TV shows.  I picked corn and then drove the car to the garage in Fillmore.  where they changed the oil, rotated the tires, and fixed the car clock.  After lunch I picked tomatoes.


Carol sliced the tomatoes and presented them in an attractive presentation.  She then covered them with a plastic wrap.
Here is some peaches and cream sweet corn.  I put them in the fridge in the garage.
I am waiting for the oil change.

Watered most of the front lawn.  This evening we went to the ward harvest dinner.  I did the watering.

A New Week

A lazy day.  Watched TV this morning.  Watered most of the plants in the garden and greenhouse five.  There was a lot of sweet corn in the fridge. Carol got it out and boiled it for a short time.  We cut it off with knives and put in a plastic zipper bag.  I dated it and put it in the freezer.  


I picked five ears of sweet corn and put them in the fridge that is in the garage.  Later I took them out of the fridge and shucked them.  We ate some for supper.

Interesting Sunday

After getting up, I showered.  Richard was gone which is quite usual for him.  We had breakfast.  Carol took me to choir practice.  We went home after church.  Richard's closes were still in the kitchen.  We had no idea where he was, Carol called him several times. He finally answered his phone. He had saw his doctor.  Richard had a problem swallowing.  Carol called him again. He is feeling much better and will be going to work in the morning.  Calico came to the front door this evening.

Flowers

Lisa fixed us breakfast this morning.  She made us tamales.  She had all of the ingredients which was eggs, dressing. etc,  Carol and I went to a funeral for our neighbor, Ann Stephenson.  we were early and went through the line.  Many of our friends were there.  The funeral was very good.  The speakers spoke of Jesus Christ and the resurrection.  After the funeral was over, we went home.  Lisa fixed us a good dinner.

We got this basket of vegetables yesterday.  We put a couple of bell peppers and some tomatoes from our garden.  Calico was here for breakfast and supper.

Visitors

Main street was painted with white on both sides and yellow down the middle. Calico showed up for breakfast.      We drove to Fillmore and filled the car with gas at Loves.  We stopped at the Fillmore market and bought a few groceries.  We then drove home. 

The spaghetti sauce was made.  Eight quarts and one pint. 
Here the large kettle on the stove is boiling.

Carol had some visitors from the ward.  They brought a basket of vegetables and other treats.  I took the two boys with to get some figs that were in greenhouse five. 

Lisa came and a little later Richard came.  Richard brought some tomalleys, and Lisa brought some food food for our meals   We had them for supper.  Calico was on the front porch for supper.  Lisa and Richard spent the night with us.

Temple

It was getting light when we left Holden this morning.  We had easy drive most of the way.  We ran into heavy traffic in the Payson area. After that it was okay.  We stopped at Nyleen's house.  She has been sick and didn't go with us at the Mount Timpanogos temple.  After the session we went back to Nyleen's.   She had a lunch prepared for us.  We then went to the distribution center.  Carol bought some garments, and I got a zipper tie, Calico had been.  The food that we left her mostly was gone wfhen we got home from the temple.

Sad News

I watched the morning TV shows.  Calico came this morning for lunch and again this afternoon. This afternoon I picked the tomato plants.

Carol washed them and put them on the counter to dry.
I filled the bucket with tomatoes.   There was a large gathering at the Utah Valley University to hear Charley Kirk speak.  He was shot and killed.  This has been on the news all afternoon.  They haven't found the killer.

Busy Day

 Carol baked potatoes.  They are to be used in a funeral luncheon.

We ate sweat corn today.
Calico stopped for something to eat and drink.  She has come in the morning and again in the late afternoon.
There are a lot of delicious figs in greenhouse five.
I chucked the corn and we put it in the fridge.

Sunday School

I started the roast in the slow cooker this morning. Calico was waiting for her breakfast this morning, I fed her and then made some tapioca pudding.  We attended all of our church meetings,  After dinner we watched a movie on our TV.  The day light is getting shorter.

The Art Show

Richard was still in bed when I got up this morning.  I showered and got dressed. Today is the anniversary of our wedding.  Richard left for a short time, I fed the cats, and I also fed Calico who was on the front porch.  Richard came back and we had breakfast, Carol fixed a new sugar solution for the hummingbirds, A little after ten Richard and I went to Fillmore for the Millard County fair. We looked at the exhibits in the Old Armory.  We bought two Navaho tacos.   One for me and one for me and one for Carol.  We had a casserole for supper.  There were postings on Face Book about the death of our neighbor. I was her birthday.

Irrigation Turn

 

We were to get the water at seven this morning.  Robert came to help.  We went up to the ditch.  There was not any water there, I called the watermaster. He was home and he soon came and turned down the water.  Robert cleaned the leaves and trash that was in the ditch, We watered the east lawn.  We watered the north garden.  We also watered the sweet corn and last we watered the rest of the front lawn.

Robert used the blower to blow some leaves of the driveway. It was nearly two this afternoon when we turned the water down the ditch to the next person.  
These yellow jackets were sprayed a water and dawn soap.  They are dead or are dying.
More yellow jackets. The crack in the dead tree in the back yard was full or yellow jackets.  

Robert then got in his car and drove home,    Richard came.  He will be staying with us for the weekend.

Trip to Fillmore

We picked up our mail at the post office and then drove to Fillmore.  We got a few groceries and then came home.  We unloaded the groceries.  I got a quick glimpse of Calico when we left.  I opened the front door, and Calico was waiting for something to eat.  I gave her some cat food and water, but she wouldn't let me touch her.  We had sweet corn for supper.  I watered the tubs and baskets on the front porch.

Sweet Corn

 

This morning, I made a new batch old fashion oatmeal mush.

I watered the Peaches and Cream sweet corn this morning.  There were a couple of ears that looked like they were ripe ready to pick.  I watered the tomato plants and peppers plants.  Calico showed up for breakfast and again this evening.

Regular

This is a more normal day. Calco cat, breakfast, news, TV shows, and watering the plants, inside and outside. This afternoon I watered the geraniums and dahlias.  Later I got out the weed eater and began to cut weeds in the north garden, The string broke in a few minutes, I had to put more string in the spool.  It took a while, but I finally got it.  I cut more weeds in the north garden.  Tonight, I am watering the front lawn and the east lawn.

Special Meeting

Saturday 30 August.  

We drove to Fillmore this morning.  We filled the car with gas at Love's and got some groceries at Fillmore market. Carol got some medication at the drug store.  We stopped at Fillies for ice cream cones.  They were so busy.  We drove to the south end of town and bought some cones there.  I watered the geraniums in the front yard.

Calico showed up this morning after being absent for several months.

Sunday 31 August 

I watered the tomato plants and pepper plants this morning, The sacrament speakers were good.  There were no regular meetings, but a special meeting to help parents with a positive experience with their children.  

This morning the cat calico is eating cat food on the front porch. He let me pet her.  
Carol bought some cereal.  I fed seven or eight boxes old cereal to the chickens; Later I shredded the boxes.  Calico, the cat was on our front porch this morning.  We listened to the radio and later this morning we watched channel eleven TV programing.  We had steak, baked potatoes, and peas for dinner,
