Timpanogos Temple

We were up early this morning making preparations to go to the Timpanogos temple.  It was nearly seven when we drove out of Holden.  There were places where the traffic was heavy and other places where there was not as much traffic.  After a good session we took Miles and Nyleen back home.  Carol changed clothes and we headed home.  Nyleen made us a sack lunch.  I put most of it on my homemade tray.  We began to eat it when the traffic was lighter.  We didn't stop until we got to the Holden post office.  At 3:45 Karen Bennet cut my hair.  We had a light supper.  and watched several Christmas programs on TV.

Quick Trip

After breakfast we jumped into the car and drove to Linden, Utah, where Carol's sister Nyleen Batty lives.  Carol took her a case of half pint Mason jars.  Another reason was to buy presents for family and friends.  We then drove to the LDS store.  Carol bought some Christmas presents.  We then went to Sam's Club and bought more Christmas presents, after that we went to Walmart and bought more presents.  I think that we walked up and down the aisles of the store.  Some a couple of times.  It was a little after two when we got home.  I made some address labels while Carol wrapped a present.  We took them to the post office to have them mailed.  We have a lot of other presents to wrap    One of our neighbors brought us some treats that her husband made and some raw honey from their bees.  Carol had a present for her and some currant jelly.  Lisa called.    I was having trouble with Samsung device. I worked on it for over and hour and still didn't get it to work right.  It is pretty amazing.  It contained all of the conference talks.  I can read them or listen to each conference speaker and there is a lot of other things on it,

Trouble

We got up early this morning to go to the Timpanogos temple.  After breakfast we put our temple suit cases in the car with a couple of other things.  Carol always drives.  She backed out of the garage and were a mile of so north of Holden.  We discovered that she didn't have her wallets.  We turned around and went back home.  We looked all over the house.  We looked in the trunk, No wallet.  I found the wallet on the black car seat.   The garage lights were off, and Carol couldn't see her wallet and set on it.  We started to back out of the garage.  I had to go back to the house and lock the door.  She drove a little faster than usual and we were at the Batty home.  We picked up the Battys and were soon at the temple.  The problems were over I thought.  After the session it took a little longer than usual for Miles and I to find our locker.  I then went out to the parking lot to get our car.  I knew just where it was.  I stood right by it.  I pushed key button

Christmas Cards

A couple of days ago I printed the names and addresses of the people who we were going to whom we were to mail Christmas cards to.  This morning Carol signed our names and inserted the card into an envelope.  She applied their address and a return address.  When the post office opened, we took them to the post office.  This evening some girls from the ward rang the doorbell.  They had a small sack of candies, fruits and powdered drinks.  We are leaving early for the temple in the morning.  So, I made three dishes of old fashion oatmeal mush.

Good morning to all of Us

Up on time this morning.  Turned on the morning news, made batch of old fashion oatmeal mush and fed the cats. There was a trace of snow on the lawn and driveway this morning.   After breakfast we watched three of the morning MeTV shows.  At ten we picked up Elisha Bills who was feeding the animals at he mother's house.

We got gas at the Love gas station.  We then went to the drugstore to get Carol's medication.  It took the druggist a long time to fill the prescription.  Next, we went to the Fillmore market for a few groceries.  Elisha bought a cart full of groceries.  last of all we stopped at Ace hardware store where we bought handheld cordless vacuum.  We then went home.  We took Alicia back to her mother's house where she transferred her groceries to her car. Back home I ate the rest of the pork and bean soup.

Later this evening Carol went to the DUP meeting.  She took to bagss of caned food for the Food Bank.

Lawn Mower

A good morning.  I got up one time.  Fed the cats and kittens and started breakfast.  The back doorbell rang, and Robert walked in.  We made a tour of the greenhouses.  Robert bought a tarp to cover his tiller that was in house three.  There is no plastic one the greenhouse to protect his tiller from the winter rains and snow.   The plants in house six haven't been watered for a long time.   Robert turned on the water.  The water began to run on the trees and shrubs.  Robert put the light chain one the back porch.  After it was hooked up it worked perfectly. We installed a light projector for the front porch.  It is working.   Robert replaced the burnt-out light in the kitchen,

There was a lot of leaves on the back lawn and the lawn mower would not start.  We took the battery out of the mower and brought it into kitchen.  We hooked battery charger to the battery.  No success.  We took the battery to Fillmore. We were able to get a battery.  The cost of the battery was around $65.  We brought it home and put it in the lawnmower.  The mower started.  We put air in the tire and Robert began to mow.  Carol fixed some lunch.  After lunch Robert mowed the back lawn.

Robert seemed to enjoy working with the lawnmower.
Carol's sister, Nyleen. gave her some currents some time ago.  Carol juiced it put in the freezer.  I helped her make two batches of jelly.  There were seven pints in each batch.   After it got dark, we walked outside to look the light projections.

Getting Caught Up

Thursday morning: 5 December 2024 - Early to rise this morning.  Fed the cats.  All of the cats were crowded into the bottom level of the cat house.  I turned on the back porch light to feed the cats and they kept coming out.  It was just getting light as we drove out of Holden.  We picked up Miles and Nyleen Batty and drove to the Timpanogos Temple. Another enjoyable session.  We took Miles and Nyleen home.  Nyleen prepared a sack lunch for us which we ate on the way home.  This afternoon I went to Dan's business where he got my laptop computer working.  I made an appointment at Steve's tires to have the oil changed on our car.

Wednesday morning: 4 December 2024 - We, Carol and I, Decorated the Christmas tree.  Richard brought into the house.  Carol's mother made dozens of crocheted snowflakes.  Some were small and some are large and many in between,  In the afternoon we put on display the nutcrackers and other Christmas items.
Several nativity displays are in the family room.
This is one of the larger nativities.  It covers the round table.
Two ceramic nut crackers.
Small nutcrackers lined up above the fireplace.
These nutcrackers cover the milk safe.

Signs of Christmas

There is a lot of Christmas music on the car radio. Yesterday we drove to Provo and listened to Christmas music on the way up and all the way home.

Richard put up the Christmas tree Sunday morning.  Carol and I worked most of the afternoon today decorating it.

The photo shows the complied tree.  Carol's mother crocheted snowflakes of many different sizes and designs.  We put them on the tree every December.

Drive Up North

Another time that I slept in.  I watched the clock and planned on getting up at 6:20. I went back to sleep, and it was nearly seven when I got up.  I hurried and showed, dressed and said my prayers.  I fed the cats.  Carol got up.  I watered all of the indoor plants.  This is a Monday morning chore.  I prepared breakfast.  We watched some of the morning MeTV shows.  We then drove to Sam's club in Provo.  There we bought some groceries and cat food and a few other things.

We then drove to the Distribution center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Saints.  We then went to Home Depot where I bought box containing two impact screw drives.  We had a couple of gift cards that was nearly enough to pay for them.  We then drove to the Payson Walmart.  Carol bought a gift for one of her dear friends.

Then we drove to Costco where Carol had her hearing aid adjusted. The above picture is of the entrance where hearing tests and adjustment were conducted.  We were about and hour early for her appointment.  So we waited inside.  There were tables and benches there.  We set there for a long time watching the shoppers exiting.
This picture was taken near the parking lot.  We then drove home.  Supper this evening were warmups.

Fast Sunday

Richard was gone when I got up this morning.  He usually goes for a short ride.  No breakfast this morning. Carol prepared potatoes for dinner.  She put them in the oven, and I adjusted the temperature and bake time and the amount of time so they would be ready when we got home from church.  Richard garlic bread.  I made a batch of tapioca pudding which turned out to be very good.  Carol sliced the ham and cooked the frozen peas and made some gravy.  I checked the nurseries and water most of the plants in greenhouse five.  Sometime after dinner Richard left.  This evening, I peeled the parsimon and sliced it.  The blossom end was really sweet and tender.  The end close to the stem was quite corse.  I ate most of it.  I had to spit it out in the sink and then rinsed out my mouth several times.

Dead Battery

The morning started like another good day. I was up at 6:20 this morning.  I showered, shaved and made my bed.  I fed the cats and prepared breakfast.  Richard got up a little later and Carol got up still later.  I watched the MeTV shows.  Carol vacuumed the floors during TV commercials. Carol answered the phone.  It was Lorena who worked for us many years ago.  Alisha called and wanted to go with us to Fillmore.  I was a little after eleven when we drove to her house.  Carol honked the horn several times.  I rang her doorbell several times.  No answer.   We then went home, and Carol called her.  We would pick her up after company left.

The above photo is of Lorena and her family.  After a brief visit they left for California, they gave us some raisons made from grapes where he works.  Alisha called and said that she didn't need a ride to Fillmore.

They also gave us some lemons and persimmon fruits. We then went to Fillmore for some groceries and gas.  we drove to Fillmore for gas and groceries.

I put the battery charger on for a couple of hours.  When I tried to start the lawnmower there was nothing even though the charge had been on for a couple of hours.  I searched online for a new battery.  Richard said that when it is so cold the battery will lose its charge.

Shopping

I woke up several times during the night, but the last time I woke up was it was 6:20 which is the time that I like to get up.  I started my old fashion oatmeal mush.  After breakfast we watched the morning MeTV shows.  We drove to Loves in Fillmore for gasoline.

We stopped at Loves and filled our car with gasoline.   That is not a picture of our car.
We then went to the Fillmore market and boughed a few groceries.  We then went home.  I had lunch which was a left-over macaroni and cheese.   We were invited to go to Lisa's to celebrate thanksgiving.  Carol wanted to make frogeye pudding.  That meant another trip to the market in Fillmore.
I wanted to mow the leaves that were on the backyard lawn.  I hooked up the battery charger and then we went back to Fillmore. Carol had a list of things that she needed.  When we got home, I removed the charger, set in the seat, put the lever in choke position and turned the key.  There was nothing.  No mowing and storms coming in the morning.

Sunday Meetings

It was a little after five this morning when I got up and started a roast in the slow cooker.  I then went back to bed. When I got back up, Richard was gone, I showered and dressed.  It had snowed some. I turned on the TV.  No signal.  I went outside and cleaned off the dish.  The TV signal was back.  I turned the radio on and listened to the church programs.  I prepared breakfast.  I fixed an egg and toast.  She didn't feel good and didn't eat it. I ate my breakfast.  Richard came back, He ate a bowl of mush.  He had been up the canyon looking for deer.  He saw some.  I was catching up on some news on my laptop.  Richard took me to choir practice.  Carol didn't go to church because she didn't feel well.  Sacrament meeting went well and the same for priesthood meeting.  While we were gone fixed a good dinner and us chocolate pudding.
Richard carried the heavy box which contained the Christmas tree.  He put it up in the front room    Later he left
I went out to greenhouse five and watered most of the plants.  I gave the poinsettia pictured above as good watering.
Lisa gave us the above plant some time ago.  It was on the front porch all summer and had some pretty flowers on it.  I brought it into the house when it got colder.  I hasn't done very well, I took out to greenhouse five and gave it a good watering.

What a Day

The day started wrong.  I try to get at 6:20.   I got close to 6:20 and I went back to sleep.  It was nearly seven when I got.  I turned on the news and started making my mush.  I went to feed the cats and there was a dead cat laying the shrubbery.  I took it out to the south garden where I dug a hole and buried it. Then there was another dead cat in the bottom bunk.  I also buried it next to the other kittens.

I put the battery charger on the lawn mower.  While it was charging I had lunch.
After lunch, I started to mow the lawn.  There were a lot of leaves on the lawn which quickly filled up the bags.
Here the battery charger is hooked up to the battery.  It was on nearly 45 minutes.

Kitten Trouble

The day started out good this morning.   We watched the morning news, and the MeTV shows.

The eyes of one of the kittens was closed.  The kitten struggled to get loose, but Carol persisted and got the eyes opened.  In the afternoon I found a dead kitten in the middle bunk of the cat house.  It was 3:30 when I called the veterinarian.  They close at four.  I put the dead kitten in a shopping bag and drove to Fillmore.  I got some medicine for the eyes.  I came home and opened the garage door.  A yellow kitten came out of the garage.  I drove into the garage and shut the door.   I took medicine into the kitchen.  I found out that I had ran over the yellow kitten.  I buried the black kitten and then I buried the yellow kitten int the south garden.  There is three kittens buried there. One buried yesterday and two buried today.
I wrapped the dahlias in newspaper and clear plastic wrap.  I put them in a bucket and the took them to the garage.  I will plant them in the spring.
I pulled a piece of clear plastic.  Then I would cut it with a utility knife.  The day ended bad.

Pomegranate

Busy today.  I watched the morning news, and the MeTV shows.

with the help of Carol, I removed the storm door.  I was really heavy.  The door is gone in the above photo.  I had recently fed the cats and kittens.
I harvested all of the pomegranate seeds.
The heavy storm door leaning against a tree.  I had to remove a whole bunch of screws before I could get the door off.
Here the pomegranate cracked open.
I wrapped the dahlias with news paper and plastic and put them in the bucket to store them until next spring.
The were so dry that I put them in a bucket of water.

We drove to Fillmore to remove the insurance on the truck.

Walmart

We took the garbage to the dump and mailed a greeting card at the post office.  We then went to the Payson, Utah Walmart.   The main reason for this trip was to buy a birthday present for Carol's friend.  We also bought a few other things.  I wanted to go to the animal hospital for some eye drops for our kittens.  We didn't go in the right direction, so we headed for home.  We stopped at Wendy in Nephi for some drinks, fry's and a couple of small hamburgers.  We then went home.

Sunday

Up at 6:20 this morning. Showered, dressed and turned on the morning news.  Fed the cats and kittens,

There are four old frying pans.  The photo shows one of the smaller ones. There are three other frying pans.  With this new one, all of the cats and kittens have room to eat.

The sacrament meeting and Sunday school were very good.  Most of our Sunday dinner was cooked when we got home.

Some of kittens have eyes that are stuck shut.  Carol wraps the kitten with a towel and uses a wet napkin to soften the eye and wipe off the softened eye discharge.

Does anyone else have kittens with the eyes stuck shut?

A Good Morning

I was up this morning at my preferred time. 6:20. It was still dark.  Turned on the morning news.  I was mainly about president elect, Donald Trump and his cabinet selection.  I fixed breakfast.  We watched the morning EmTV. shows.    I checked the oil level in the car.  It was down about one-half quart.  I had a bowl of clam chowder soup for lunch.   At 2:45 Carol got haircut and a perm.  She really looks nice.  While she was gone, I watched a high school football game.  I went out to the shed to start the lawnmower.  The battery was dead.  I plugged the extension cords and hooked the battery charger to the battery.  I went into the house and after 15 minutes. I got some gas.

I removed the charger and backed the lawnmower out of the shed.  I filled the gas tank.  I then got the compressor and pumped up the two front tires.  I began mowing the front lawn and soon filled the bags and the grass shoot.  I dumped most of the front lawn grass on the weeds east of the house.  I dumped most of the grass in the same area.

After mowing the east lawn, I began mowing the back lawn.  The lawnmower acted like the it didn't have any power.  I noticed that the mower deck was set at one inch.  I set it at two inches.  It began to mow again.    I dumped the bags many times.  I blew the leaves of the patio.  I turned off the mower each time I dumped the grass.  Each time I turned the ignition key on it acted like the battery was dead.  I turned it on and it started right up.
