Waisted Trip to Payson

This morning I prepared a check for and interest and principle at the bank.  We drove to Fillmore.  Carol bought some groceries and I had bought some Triple Thick Polyurethane to paint the small tool box that I made a couple of days ago,  Also, we had to put air in our car tires.  The pressure symbol has been on the car dash board for a couple of day.
I began to remove the poly that used to be on house five.  It blew off and slid down both sides
The sun cast shadows of the bows on the floor of house five.
While I was doing this, Shane needed some help in putting poly over the vent fans on the west end of house six.  We finished it and then he came out and helped me pull the poly free in house five.  He pulled it out to the street and put it in the back of his pick-up.  He took it out to the dumpsters.

He then went for lunch and I did the same.  I had a couple of small hotdog sandwiches.

Sometime soon after, I turned on my lap-top.  There was a message saying that someone had got into my bank account and taken some money.  The were two boxes.  One for my user name and the other for a password.  I tried to delete the message, but couldn't.  I called the phone number to find out about it.  I talked to a person who spoke poor English.   I had a hard time following the directions that he was giving me.  We exchange key-board messages.  The call was dropped.  He called right back.  This continued for some time.  Then another person called.  The third person called and said that we were to go two a store where we could buy some gift cards.  Payson Walmart was the closest store.  We were to go right then.  I was on the phone with those guys for about three hours.  I was to take my cell phone and my charging cord, to keep it plugged in as we drove.  The call was dropped several times and he called right back.  He then would call about every fifteen minuets.  Carol was asking me question all the way about what he was asking us to do.

We parked and Carol talked to him asking a bunch of questions.  He didn't answer them to her satisfaction.  I complained to him how we would know that he wasn't trying to scam us.  We were to buy five, $500 gift cards using our credit card.  We would get an email in the morning saying that everything was okay.  Carol was not letting me do it.  I asked for more time to think about it. Finally  he gave up saying that he would let the money go through.  Meaning that we would  have to pay for the dating service.

We got in the car and I called the customer service number on the back of the credit card.  Asking if there was a charge $2500 for the dating service.  She said that there was no charge.  She then gave me a history of purchases made in the last five day.  We purchase some medication at Walmart and I bought some Triple Thick Polyurethane earlier this morning.  She then mentioned the other charges.

On the way home I called the credit card company and told them to disable our credit card because I had given them my credit card number.  By then someone had made a charge of about $ 2,000.  We won't have to pay it.   They will be sending me a new card in a week or so.

We can still use Carol's card because it has a different number than mine.

An Early Winter

It was a cold morning, particularly  at 3:30 when we were up getting ready for our drive to the Manti Utah temple.  After we returned, we at lunch.  Later in the afternoon I helped in house six.  Carol went to the dental office and had a crown replaced.
I met Shane in house six.  He mentioned that while working in the west end of house six, he would step on a tomato plant.  I covered with these small wire baskets.
He was covering one of the exhaust fans on the west end.  I helped him with it.

Compost the Leaves

One of the coldest day this fall so far.  There was a little ice in the cat water dish.  I worked in the garage most of the morning.
I finished the tool box that I started Thursday and Friday morning.   It took me most of the morning to finish it.
I built the little box that could hold some small tools or parts. It looks pretty big here.   I couldn't figure how to make the little box.  I found a large piece of mahogany wood and I ripped it into narrow pieces.  I ripped piece of one inch pine into two narrow piece.  The mahogany were for the sides and the pine for the bottom and ends.  I glued it all together. While it dried  I raked leaves.
I raked leaves east of the house.  I hooked up the blower and piled up the leaves on both sides of the driveway and south of the house.  I put them on the tarp.
I tied the four corners together with the cord and carried it out to the garden.  There are a lot of leaves out there hopefully will decay during the winter.

Two Days Being Away

25 October Friday some pictures are a little fuzzy because of not sufficient light.
Today is the day of the reception for Skyler Gray and Emily Schill.  We planned to leave at four this afternoon.  There was a several things that I wanted to do before we left.  I had four bottles of rooted tomato plants in the window.  I took the cuttings over a month ago.  There were four well rooted plants in each bottle.  I planted two from each bottle on each side of the west end of house six.
I think that this is the south side and
and this is the north side.  A couple days ago I took a pallet apart.  I removed all the nails.
I glued the boards for the ends together and cut them nine inches wide.  on the right are the boards for the sides.
I cut of the corners using this unique method. I drew a straight line which started five inches from the bottom and went nearly to the center at the top.  I put the end on my cutoff sled and lined up the line with in the same direction of the saw blade.  I put a heavy weight on the part.  I slowly pushed the sled through the blade and made a perfect straight cut.

I ripped the side piece in half which two five inch sides.  I cut them to right length, sixteen inches,  I cut two more.  One for the handle and the other one to dived the box in half.  A couple of the pieces were to long.  I nibbled the ends a little until there was a good fit.
The square is clamped to the table, which kept the box square.
I then put a clamp at the bottom of each side which held everything together.  A piece of wood a little longer than the handle was fastened to the handle with one screw which held it in the right place.
The drive to the Wheeler farm went well until we got to the Point of the Mountain.  There was road construction that at times came to a standstill.  We went east on  I-215.  There was a sign to exit at sixth east for the Wheeler Farm.  At the exit the road split.  One went down to the left and the other one went up to the right.  I told Carol to go to the right then realized that it was the wrong road.  We drove south for quite some time before we turned around.  there was some signs that seemed to be confusing.  We finally made it to the Wheeler farm.  We took our presents in the big barn where the receptions was held.  They served several different breads and rolls with a choice of five jams and jellies.  Apple cider was the drink of the night.
We set will Melissa and Derick for refreshments.
I took a lot of pictures of Skyler and Emily.  I was dark in there and didn't get some really good pictures.  You can see the eyes of Skyler on the left and Emily on the right.
Lisa, Dax, and Britney.
A photo of tables and chairs with guests eating and visiting.

The chairs and tables were pushed to the South end of the hall.  the hall was cleared and dancing followed.  There was band which played.  Another person was instructing the dance steps.  There were three different dances.  On was the Virginia Rell.

We left as soon as the dancing was over.  Lisa left her house unlocked.  It took a long time to get to her house.  In the dark we couldn't see any mountains to give us direction.   We finally got on I-15 headed north.  We missed the exit for Lisa's house.  We drove up and down a lot of streets.  We got back on the freeway and turned around the next exit.  We then got off at the right exit made it to her house.  I was about eleven when we went to bed.

26 October Saturday
In the morning Eric prepared breakfast.  Eventually Lisa's kid got up.
Skyler putting on his tie.  We drove to the bountiful temple and witnessed the beautiful wedding ceremony.  We weighted in front of the temple for a long time.  It was cool, but sitting the sun kept us warm.

The Bride and Groom came out.  I was standing on a a small block wall to get a picture.

Here then come through the door.

Emily, now Gray, with her Bouquet.
We walked around to the east side of the temple where the light was better picture taking.
I took many pictures with different poses.
Skyler and Emily in the center.
Me, Emily, Skyler, and Carol.
Eric, Lisa, Skyler, Emily and Mike, Emily's father.  Her mother passed away sometime ago.
Emily and Skyler. Family members on both sides.
Tai, Skyler, Dax, and Chase.
All of the men.  Going left from the middle are:  Skyler, Eric, Chase, Dax, with the flowers, and Tai.
The luncheon at the Spaghetti Factory at Trolley Square.
On the way home.  It was the same as going.  Bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic at the point of the mountain.

We stopped at Robert and Jeanne's house for a brief visit.  We stopped at Costco for gas and some Halloween candy.  It was after dark when we got home.

Pumpkins /Jack-o-Lanterns

Breakfast and the news.  I told Carol yesterday that I would turn the pumpkins into jack-o-lantern's.
We bought this wrinkled pumpkin at the     store in Orem a couple of weeks ago.  I got every thing ready.  The newspaper for the 'guts'.   The green bowl for the seeds and pumpkin pieces removed and knives and a saw.
I made a hole in the bottom of the pumpkin.  We will put it over a burning candle or a single LED light.  The hole wasn't big enough for my hand to fit.
I made it larger hole and was able to scrape out the seeds.  Those I put n the green bowl.
This doesn't look like much.  It was so hard I use a drill to make a hole and my jigsaw to make teeth.  The above photo shows four teeth and sort of smile.
I used a drill to make two nostrils for the nose.  Then a large spade bit for the eyes.  I was able to make the eyes larger with a knife.
I brought in the large pumpkin.  The photo shows the drill on the left and the jigsaw on the right.  The skin of this pumpkin was much softer and I only need my sharp knife.
I cut off the top and began to remove the seeds.
I cut out the mouth,  but it was to low.  I did make the mouth opening a little larger.
I cut out teeth to make it look vicious.
I cut out the nose and eyes.  It looks a little better.   I folded the newspaper into a small square.  It acted like a lazy Susan.  It was easy two twist and turn.
Here again with the top in place.
The white pumpkin was also easy to cut.
I cut off the top or lid.
I quickly put on a face.  A wide smile, a triangle nose. and two round eyes.  I guess that I was getting tired and just made it simple.
The finished project.
Here are the three of them on the first step of the front porch.  Looks pretty goodl
I raked up the leaves without using a rake.  I used a large scoop shovel and made a windrow.
I laid down a blue tarp and put a black pipe along the front edge.  The pipe holds the tarp in place while pushed the leaves with the scoop shovel.  I tied the four corners together and drug it out to the garden.  I made at least four trips and have a nice pile of leaves in the garden.  I looked all over for the rake.
I started looking for a wood burner to burn in my name and dated under the Viking stool that I made for Skyler and Emily's wedding.   I didn't find one but I emptied a box that had canceled checks, statements and bills.  I run some of it through the shedder.  The was some letters in there that was written by my mother while I was on my mission.  I thinks she wrote one each week while I was gone.  There is a good piece of history in those letters.

Ray and Mary Anne stopped by for a visit.
