Trip to Fillmore

It was a little late when I got up, but I did shower, said my prayers and read a chapter out of the Book of Mormon.  I then fed the cats and fixed breakfast.  I worked in the garden until it was time to watch Mattlock on channel 44.  When the show was over, I picked up the mail.  I went home and got my computer and cables.  I took it to Dan Speakman to have him fix it.  He worked on it for about an hour.  He put some of the photos in a folder with the name 2023.  Then a sub folder named September.   All I needed to find a photo was to look in the September folder.  I then could post it on Face Book, after lunch I tried to load my picture in the September folder, but I could not find the folder.

There were a few potato plants that needed to be dug.  I watered them and later I dug a lot of potatoes.

I picked several bunches of purple seedless grapes; they are quite sweet. I worked on it for an hour or so after lunch.  I watered all of the plants in the garden.

I took a round piece of bread to the chickens in house six.

Carol fried shredded potato and slice crookneck summer squash.  We watched TV until we went to bed.

Fast Sunday

I missed choir practice this morning.  I got a text telling me about it, but I missed understanding the message.  We didn't have breakfast because it was fast Sunday.  It was a little after 9:30 when we walked into the chapel.  Some people bore testimonies of Jesus Christ.  Most listed things that they were thankful for.  Two gave talks.  The priesthood lesson was much better. The lesson leader was well prepared.  I set up the mics.  We came home.   It took about thirty minutes to prepare dinner.  After dinner we watched channel eleven programs on TV.   Warm-ups for supper and then more TV until we went to bed.
I took a piece of bread for these chickens; I wasn't able to crop this photo.

Mount Timpanogos Temple

I was up fairly early this morning.  It was quite dark when we got up.  We were out of oatmeal mush, The first thing that I did after I got dressed was to make the old fashion oatmeal mush.  I then fed the cats.   The days are getting shorter. I prepared breakfast.  Later we left Holden for American Fork. The drive was uneventful.  We arrived at the home of Miles and Nyleen Batty.   We then drove to the Mount Timpanogos.  I parked the car.  We had a good session.  We took Miles and Nyleen home.   Nyleen made a sack lunch for us.  We got a bunch of groceries at Sam's Club.   One the way home we ate the lunch.  We drove through Nephi to avoid the I-15 traffic.  It was about three when we got home.   We watched TV until we went to bed.  Carol worked on her puzzle.

Busy Day

Carol made four quarts and one pint of spaghetti sauce.  The whole process took about three hours.  I picked the tomatoes a couple of days ago.

Rod Dastrup and Danny Thomas. two city employees dug a lot of yucca plants.  The loaded them on their truck. This spring Rod asked me if he could get some of the plants.
Here is another picture.  Rod is in the back hoe, and Danny is at the side helping,
They took them to the north entrace of the town of Holden.  Danny dug the holes with his shovel.
He put a yucca plant in each hole.
This is a view of the shrubby of the north entrance to Holden,
I picket some zucchini and cucumbers.  We took most of this to "share the bounty" Near the Holden post office.
This is a photo of garden produce from our garden.
A picture of some cucumber vines.

Burning

I woke up about every hour last night.  I got up at six, showered, and shaved.  I read a short chapter from the Book of Mormon and posted it on Face Book.  I fed the cats and started breakfast.  I turned on the 7 O'clock news.  It was almost seven thirty when Carol got up.  We ate breakfast.  I watered all of the plants in the Garden.  I watered the hanging baskets on the front porch and the plants on the steps.  I watched the Matlock show on TV.  I then went to the post office and picked up the mail. The state road department was putting down new asphalt on three or four blocks on main street.  Some of our neighbors were burning weeds in the ditch and in the front yard.   I turned on the water on and oak tree north of greenhouse three.

I took picture of a large desert 4'O clock plant north of greenhouse two.
Carol called.  She said that the vacuum cleaner was not working, there was no suction.  I left the project that I was working on and went back to house.  I worked on that vacuum for over an hour.  I thought that the suction pipe was plugged.  I wasn't.  I took the suction part off.  I had to take out about ten screws.   The rubber belt was damaged some.  I couldn't get it off.  I got a pair of scissors and cut it in half.  I pulled the roller brush off.   I went to the junk drawer and got a spare rubber belt.  The hardest part of this job was putting on the rubber belt.  When I finished turned on the vacuum.   It worked like new.

I got this photo of m neighbors burning the puncture weeds.  The sprayed the weeds with deiseal and then used a propane flame burned puncture weeds.  One of the guys had a water hose and spayed water on the place that was not supposed to burn.  There were four men doing it.
I was having trouble turning on my phone to take a picture.  I finally got it and took a picture of my feet.
Here is a large section of burn puncture weed vines.
Here is a huge desert 4'0clock plant.  After supper we watched TV until we went to bed.

Payson Temple

We were up early this morning and put on my suit. We wanted to leave for the Payson, Utah Temple this morning about 7:15.   I started cooking old-fashion oatmeal mush.  I then fed the cats.  I prepared breakfast.  Carol got toast and egg.  I ate my mush, but I didn't have time to fix my egg.   We then left for the temple.  The trafic was not bad and we made good progress,  There wasn't and handicap parking on the north side of the temple.  We found one close to the temple doors on the south side.  Inside the temple we went to the dressing rooms.  We then met at the sealing roms on the top floor.

Saturday, Sunday & Monday

Saturday

Robert brought some tomatoes when he was here Friday.  Carol washed the and put them on the counter.  They were there all night.  After breakfast we began to prepare them for Carol's V8 juice. She removed the stems and other blemishes and put them in a kettle where I mashed them, and they were cooked for over an hour.

The juice, onions, parsley, pepper were all put in the pot.

The bottled juice was processed for fifty minutes.  I worked at the computer in my bedroom for over an hour and finally printed some labels.  Carol put them on the quart jars.

Sunday

Carol fixed a sweet potato for the oven.  She also put in a frozen dinner in the oven.  I set the temperature, bake time, and start time.  Carol took me to choir practice.  She came to church when choir practice was over.   The sacrament meeting speaker were very good.  I didn't think that Sunday school lesson was as good as the sacrament meeting speakers were.

Monday

I picked cucumbers, crookneck squash, zucchini and one tomato.
I took it all except for the tomato to the post office when I got the mail.
This afternoon I pruned the dahlias. There was one plant that was about to fall over.  I drove a stake behind it into the ground.  I tied the dahlia to the stake.
The peonies are through blooming.  I cut one down.  It was covered with a climbing weed.
I watered all of the plants in the front yard and watered the grass east of the house.  The above photo shows the sprinkler on the north end of the lawn.

We watched TV until we went to bed.

Robert's Peaches

After breakfast I was watching a 9:00 TV show.  It was almost over when Robert came.  I watched the show to the end and then went out to the greenhouses to help him.

He was stringing plastic water pipes so we could water all of the plants in house six.  All of the water pipes were hooked up to a timer which would turn the water on for a couple of hours and then shut off.  It would come on every day.  In the above photo Robert is pulling weeds that were growing around the fig shrubs.
Here Robert is pushing a landscape over the plastic tubing to keep the drip close to plant.
Robert brought some fruits that were similar to peaches.  Carol and I pealed them.  We put them in boiling water that allowed us to peel them evenly.
We got 15 pints of bottled fruit.
Here Carol is removing the pit and skin and putting them into the pint bottle.  Robert picked all of the elderberry fruits that were by greenhouse six.  There were also some in the south garden.  Robert also brought some tomatoes.   We will make some V8 juice in the morning.   We need celery and a few other things for the juice.  We went to the Fillmore Market for those things.  We watched TV until we went to bed.

Lost

We were up early this morning to have our breakfast, feed the cats and go to the Timpanogos Temple.  It was 7:30 when we left Holden.  We were able go all the way to American Fork.  We picked up Miles and Nyleen Batty and drove to the Temple.  Carol, Nyleen, and |Miles went to the Timpanogos temple.  I parked the car in the church parking lot about a block away.   Miles and I put on our white temple close.  We met Nyleen and Carol in the chapel.  We then went into the session room.  There was a restroom near the session room.  I stopped in and then went to the session room.  Miles didn't see me go into the restroom.  He started looking for me and then they closed the door.    We didn't see him again until the session was over.  I put on my street clothes and then got the car.  We took Miles and Nyleen back home.  Nyleen had a sack lunch for us.

We had planned to stop a Sam's Club.  It was getting late. We got gas at Costco's and then drove straight home.  The traffic was bumper to bumper as we got closer to Nephi.  The above photo shows the traffic almost stopped.
Here is another photo.  I tried to get a picture of the sign.  I can't read it because I could hold my phone still.
