Robert, Frank, & General Conference

We made our morning trip to the hospital where Carol received another treatment. We were in and out quite quickly.  We did some shopping and came home.
I put a cover, and nursery pot, over the waterer.  It is hanging from the poultry wire.
The acorns are germinating.  The white radical is showing.
A close up of the cone-tainers and the acorn.
A tray of 98 cone-tainers.  The roots will be going down and soon a stem will come up.
The photo at the beginning of this blog was not held high enough.  I screwed a eye screw into the ceiling and the nursery can is tied to it.
Robert and Frank came.  Robert pulled up most of the old plants and stacked them in several different places.  There were a few veggies that they salvaged.  Those that were to thick were full of aphids.
The above and following photos show what were removed and what new things were planted.

Robert set up the automatic watering in house six.  It will come on every other day. I will check it in the morning to determine which day it came on.  Close-up above.
There are six drip lines.  Three on each row.

This morning we were up early. We left Holden at 7:15 headed to the hospital in Fillmore.  Carol was there for another infusion.  It takes thirty minutes to do it once everything his hooked up.  But seems like it takes one and one half hours to get ready.  We have waited over thirty minutes to get settled in a room.  Then it takes along time to get hooked up to the drip.
This morning a little after before ten, Diane and her husband stopped and dropped off the shredder.  It looks like a good one.  It hasn't been used much.  It cost $500.  I paid half and Robert paid for half.  We may test it out tomorrow.
I hooked up the sprayer.  I filled the back tire with air.  I poured in four cups of Round-Up and filled the tank with water.  I drove out the south door and  turned right and  drove west and then north on the east side of the house.  One out by the road, I turned the pump on and got a little water out.  That was all I got.

Richard and two other people were visiting in his driveway.  I drove to his house, then thinking that I should turn around and work on it some more.  Richard told me to turn it on and it started working.  I sprayed all the weeds between our yard and the street.  It took two tanks.    It then sprayed weeds in the south west corner of our yard.

Carol's Home

We, Lisa and I, were at the hospital about 9:30.  Carol is feeling so much better.  In fact, they started the procedure to release her from the hospital.  Eric call and said that he would be here.  After all the paper work was completed, we left.  Carol needs to go back two time a day.  One in the morning at eight and one at night at eight; twelve hours apart.  She will do this every day for about ten days.

Good neighbors and friends have stopped by and brought food and good wishes.  Lisa and Eric went home a little later.

I did the watering and then some nursery work. I wanted to spray some weeds but that will be for tomorrow.
One the south wall in house six are egg and pepper plants.  I started to take them out.  I was wearing gloves would bend over and put them out.  Also, I shock off the soil.  That took a lot of effort.  I got the shovel and dug them up.  The first one I raked and put them out

Carol's in Hospital Still

his morning I drove over to the hospital to visit with Carol. Lisa is here and she went with me. Carol seems to be doing better.
I spend some time in the strawberry patch where there are a lot of weeds. Most of them are wild rye grass and also there are some mallow weeds. I dug most of them out. The above picture shows how they were before I started after them with the shovel.
The above picture shows good healthy plants and  most of the weeds are gone.
This picture shows some of the weeds that I dug up and are setting at the side.

Yesterday, I tried to start the lawnmower, but the battery was dead.  I had the charger and took it off last night.  Today the lawnmower started right up.  It is idling to fast and seems to miss a spark once in a while.
I planted some seeds that Robert brought me Sunday. There are four different plants in this one germination tray.
Alisha Bills called and wanted to plant her seeds. One is lilac bush and the other one is a butterfly bush. She had such a bad headache.  I though it would be better if she came tomorrow. Later she called and wanted to come today it was about 2:30.
This picture shows the strawberry garden with the weeds missing there are old grass clippings left over from last year.  It looks like there will be a good crop this year.
I went to the hospital to visit Carol at 3:30. While I was gone Lisa decorated some boiled eggs. They are decorated with whipped cream and food coloring. It makes an interesting group of eight.

I came back from the hospital and had supper. I stayed home and Lisa went back to the hospital to visit with her mother. She also washed my sheets.  She helped my make the bed.

I called my brother, Ray, to give him a report on how Carol was feeling. My sister, Annalee, called and wanted to know how Carol was doing. Many people in the ward have cold concerning Carol.

A Cold Day in Holden

It was somewhat lonely home a lone.  Carol spent the night in the hospital.  After breakfast, I checked out houses two, three, and four.  Things looked pretty good.  It was cold with frost on the grass.  The chicks are doing well.
Robert, got a lot seeds from a co-worker at BYU.  I made labels for some of them that are listed above.  My intent was to plant them today, but didn't get it done.

It was about time to visit Carol at the hospital.  I didn't want to got to late or I would have missed the doctor.  I was there till about eleven.  The doctor came and said that they could not find the cause of the infection that was causing the pain in her back.  An MRI was suggested.
On the way home I bought some PVC piece to replace the stripped piece from yesterday.  I glued them together.
I use the pipe clamp to hold it ridged.  The screws go through the plywood and into a piece of 2x4 on the other side.
It is put together and is now time for the minute of proof.  I hooked a hose to the hose bib, turned the water on, and it leaked badly and there was only a little of water on the other end of the hose.  I thought that another pipe had broke and water was running away some where else.  Everything was okay.   I took it all apart to see what was plugging off the water.  A lot of pieces of PVC pipe went down the pipe.  When the water was turned on, the PVC dust plugged in the hose bib.  I got that out and still not enough water.  I found a seventy-foot hose and connected it to the hose bib.  There was plenty of water and no leaks.
My next project was to get the lawnmower working.  Yesterday, I got the crankcase oil adjusted right.  I put the air filter over the carburetor.  I tried to start it, but the battery was not good enough to get it started.  It almost did.  I put the battery charger on.

I went back to Fillmore to visit with Carol.  Lisa was there.  Carol seemed to feel a lot better.  After a couple of hours we left.  Lisa and I ate at Cluffs.   There was a lot of people there.  I had a Bacon and Hambuger and fries. It was not that good.  I ate about half of It. was on for four or five hours.

It was almost dark when I got home.  I removed the the charger.

A Day at the Hospital

Not much focus on wood or the gardens today.  The emphases is on Carol, my wife, and her illness.

This has been an eventful 24 hours.  But it really started Saturday.  Carol has been feeling sick. Her back aches, stomach is sore, and she hurts all over. I went to the temple and she stayed home because she didn't feel well. I had a good day at the temple.  We were able to leave the temple seven.  When I got home she was not any better.  She was still feeling sick.

Sunday morning which was last night; she wanted to go to the hospital because she felt so sick. We went to the emergency room. They took her in and gave her an infusion of liquid because she was so dehydrated.. The doctor there was from out of town. We thought it was a kidney infection. They gave her some medication which was supposed to help. We stayed there until about twelve. We then came home and she was told to come back this morning her appointment was at 9:30.

We were there about 9:15. I made a list of things to get while at the clinic.  I'd dropped her off at the at the clinic.  She walked in and I  bought a furnace filter, some PVC things to fix the leaking hose in house six; a hose bib. an air filter for the lawn mower.  I made a deposit at the credit union. I stopped at the bank to talk to Kim.  I then went back to the clinic.  She was taken to the hospital where they did a lot of tests trying to find what was causing the pain or infection.  Later, she was admitted into the hospital. Her nurse asked a lot of questions about medical history and other health procedures that she has had.  They brought her lunch about twelve,  Carol did not want to eat anything.  I ate part of here lunch and then came home.

At home I cut the pipe and put in a gate value. I tried to put the new hose bid in, but the threads were stripped so that I could not do it.  I did all of the watering. .About 5:30 I went back to the hospital and waited with her for a couple of hours. Carol's super was there.  She at part of it and I ate the rest of it.  We watched some TV together.    Doctor Bassett came in to give a report.  He said that they could not find what was causing the infection. After a little while I came home. I then went to the post office and picked up the mail. I called Eric Gray,  Lisa called back a little later.

I bought an air filter for the lawn mower. The old the old filter was full of oil. I found alan wrench and removed the plug.  I got a pan and drained out some oil, then put the plug back in.  I checked the oil again still too much oil. I drained a little more out and check the oil again.  The next time I removed the plug and drained out too much oil before I got the plug back in.  I poured a little oil back into the engine. I finally got it right.
Got some chicken feed for the chicks and I made a device shown in the picture where I could raise or lower the chicken feeder.  I just hooked the wire on a different screw.

Accomplishments Today

Yesterday, Carolyn Stevens brought me some seeds.  She wanted a little advice in planting them.  I thought that it would be best if I planted them and kept them in the greenhouse.

I have been planting seeds for Carolyn Stevens today I have two trays of jalapeno peppers I planted Rosemary sweet basil, Cilantro/corlander I made labels for them because my penmanship or writing is so bad.    I covered them with vermiculite and I finished watering them.
The above photo  is  of three trays.  The seeds are covered with vermiculite.  Each tray is divided in to two sections.  The three trays hold the seeds of six different seeds.  There are two other trays out of view.  Jalapeno pepper are planted in six packs.
The above list of seeds is what I planted. It is a photo of part of the spread sheet.  Carolyn's name is in front to identify the provider of the seeds.
I started building brackets for a shelf in house two.  The table they are setting on is covered with tools, and some junk.  A couple of weeks ago, I made five brackets out of 2x4's.  This was much easier because of experiences that I had and the above brackets are made out of severely weathered pine.
I thought that it would be difficult to hold the brackets to the wall because of the problem of driving screws in a tight space.  In stead I made French cleats.  I made the cleats in the garage so I had to walk back to the house several time before I got it right. The black pieces above are the cleats screwed to the wall.
The mating cleat is screwed onto the back side.
The pair of brackets are hanging on the cleats screwed to the wall.
I found an old weathered board that fits perfectly on the on the brackets.
The things on the table are on the shelf or in the garbage.
A couple of times a few chicks went out of the hen house while I was watering or feeding.  I used hook and screw to hold the door shut and on the right is a handle to pull the door shut.
The is a board on the ground on the east side of the hen house.  The board would stop the door.  I shaved the high spot with two handed gouge.
I made the above device to hold east door shut from the inside.  When it is not needed I can hang in on a nail be the door.
I built the bar out of oak to hold the hen house door closed.
West of house five is a flower bed.  I dug out the weeds and pruned the perennials there.
I spent a good half hour looking for the rake.  I finally spotted it west of house four and there were some other tools.

The notes below are taken from my phone.  I haven't learned how two dictate to my phone.

I made these two brackets today because I needed a shelf to put all of our junk on which was the French cleats are finished they're hanging on the north wall of house two.  the first French cleat so I made that are in the garage or at a 45 degree angle I cut these a lot less degree Maybe 35 need to check and see now I need to make the shell to fit on top of these cleats on top of the brackets I found an old piece of picket fence it's a good 12in wide I don't know where it came from but it is working and easy to come back and pick it up really old wood I have screws in them to hold it into place if I were doing it again I would do the screws differently instead of the screw going through the bracket I would have the screw go through the brace then that would have a Tennessee to pull it up tight into place now I'm going to figure out how to hang it on the wall. Now the table is clean it looks good. I just finished making a hook and the latch the latch and hook to hold the dork to the hen house closed. After that with a draw knife I removed some of the wood that was holding the door shut or open.. I prepared my income tax material to take to my accountant. I updated the word history by adding the Relief Society anniversary program period. I watered Roberts plants in-house 6 he has some Kohlrabi growing and several different kinds of lettuce growing in house 6. Between the lettuce he planted another he planted radishes and they are starting to come up now There are a lot of weeds coming up also. On the north side of house. There's a lot of fox tail drawing on the north side of house 6.. the wind is blowing very hard the Pauly is flapping in the Wind. I dug up some of the fox tail weed and in some places it was hard to dig because it's growing in the weed barrier. I built this device looks sort of like a anel upside down to hold the doors for her six the West doors I mean the East doors for her sick to hold those doors open.
