I write all most every day of what goes on in our home in the garden and in the nursery. We are ordinance workers at the Manti Temple on the Tuesday morning shift and the Saturday evening shift. In addition there are several trips to Utah county a couple of times a month and a few short trips to other mountain west areas. Our family is most important to us. All of our children live in Utah except one who lives in Kentucky.

Payson Temple
We left Holden this morning headed to the Payson temple. After the session we went to Sam's club and bought a carload of groceries and paper products. We then drove to Linden. We had a nice visit with Carol's sister, Nyleen.
This is not a good picture because of the bright light coming through the window. Carol is on the left and Nyleen is on the right. This is a is of the fireplace in the front room

A Few Drops
I spent most the morning watering the plants in the garden. We watched some of the morning TV shows.
I took some potato peelings to chickens. Their lay pellet container was empty. There even wasn't any dust. There is a pine tree that was suffering because no rain. I found an old garden hose. I hocked one end to the tap and the other end to the tree.
I watered the garden. Some rows were partially clogged with weeds and soil. It took a long time to get the water to the end of the row.
I had buttered sweet potatoes for lunch. Very good.
This plant might be a pumpkin. I watered most of the back lawn with a sprinkler. We had enough rain to wet the front sidewalk. I watered the grape vines and watered the potato plants.

Watered Potatoes
Everything as usual this morning. As soon as breakfast was over, I started the morning chores.
I watered the plants in green house five. There are lots of grapes. It looks some are getting ripe. I ate two of the purple ones. They were a little bit ripe.I got the soaker hose that was in the west end of greenhouse six. I took it to greenhouse two. It was long enough to go down west row of potatoes come back on the east row. I hooked it up to the tap and turned on the water. I couldn't any water soaking out. I went back to the house for a few minutes, I told Carol that it wasn't working. Said you need to water with the hose. I then used the soaker hose, I watered the east row and came back watering the west row.
We caught earwigs and tiny ants during the night.
This is a picture of the south end of the drip line. On the right end there is a one-inch tear.
This is a topaz melon I planted several weeks ago.
The topaz melon is doing well. It is covered to keep deer from eating it.I didn't plant this. I think it is pumpkin or banana squash.

Hot Night
We had a good breakfast this morning. It was about ten when I left home for Fillmore. I was looking for the barbar shop. I drove past it, then turned around. I soon was in the chair having my hair cut.
I came home and took this selfie.Friday, July 10, 2026
Hot Day
After breakfast this morning I started the water on the plants in the garden. I watered each row. It was a little difficult to keep the water in the row because dirt or mud clogged the water. I eventually got the garden watered. Carol went to her fitness class. After she came home, we drove to Fillmore and filled the car with gas. We then stopped at the market and bought a lot of groceries. The next stop was at the drug store. Carol made sandwiches for lunch. I watered the baskets and tubes. It is really hot.
Adam Remkes came and looked at the linking faucets. He will be back next week with a kit to fix them. This evening Carol and I went for a short ride around Holden.
I put the sprinkler in the dahlia garden to water the dahlia wasn't getting any water,
I cut the yellow potatoes into thin pieces and fried them. The tasted really good.

Payson Temple
After breakfast this morning we left Holden and headed to the temple in Payson. We were delayed some because of the road improvement at the north freeway entrance. There was a lot of traffic going north. After the session we stopped a Wendy's for hamburgers and drinks. There was a lot of road construction where one lane was closed. We stopped in Nephi ice cream cones. More construction on the south bound lane. We couldn't get off the freeway, so we drove to the south exit. We picked up the mail and came home.

Mid Week
Watering the plants in the garden was the main thing that I did this morning. It has been so hot that plants dry rapidly dry out. I turned the water down a row and then come back to the house. I kept going out and coming back. I watered the baskets and tubs on the front porch. Carol was watering the lawn west of the garage. Later she went to her exercise class. She fixed two egg salad sandwiches. This afternoon I started to water the east lawn.
The above photo shows the sprinkler. I move the hose every thirty minutes.Monday, July 6, 2026
Brakes are Fixed
I drove to Fillmore this morning. My first stop was at Roper's where I bought some razor blades. I then went to the TIRE SHOP to have them remove the squeak in the brakes. They blew away the brake dust. I went to the bank to get some money for Carol. I then got gas at at LOVES. I drove around the pump and finally found a pump where I filled the car with gas. I stopped at the grocery store for a few things. Carol moved the large jade plant and it came out of the pot. I found a pot that she liked that was in the shed, I filled it with wet potting soil.
This picture is of the jade plants in a new pot.I stacked three tree baskets. Hopefully the deer won't eat the tomato plants.

Fast Sunday
No breakfast this morning. I turned on the news, but there was not any new news. I set the oven so it would be done when we got home. After dinner I turned the water on the first row of tomatoes and peppers. Our neighbor drove up.
He gave us some zucchini.Saturday, July 4, 2026
4th July
After breakfast this morning we drove to Fillmore to watch the parade. We parked north of Zion's Bank. I got the folding chairs and walked across the street and found a place to watch the parade.
The young men and young women posted the flag.I watered the plants in greenhouse five. There was this pipe that I was able to attach it to the garden hose.
This is the view of the parade from where we were siting, People in the parade would throw out candy. some of the people watching the parade would get closer to the center of the street.
A woman who lives in Holden took this picture with my phone.

Robert Came
This shows the sprinkler turned on.
A close up of the sprinkler.
I raked up the leaves and put them in a black nursery pot. I dumped them out by the shed. I made four of five trips. Some of the leaves were in the steps that go under the house.
I thought that these leaves were worth a picture.
Here the water is on, the front of sprinkler is the hose.Robert started up the lawn mower and mowed the lawns. We also took the old hoses to the dump. Carol cooked lunch and Robert went home.

May Day
My alarm didn't go of this morning. I was late getting up. The kitten that we caught yesterday was eating cat food on the back porch. We watched some of the morning TV shows. I watered the grape vines. The grape bunches are getting quite large. I also started the water on the potato plants. I put the sprinkler on the kidney. Now I am watering the lawn east of our house. I moved the sprinkler north about every half hour. I finished the watering, The doorbell rang. There were a man and a woman on the front porch. After some questions and answers we determined they were from the insurance company that insures our houses. The wanted to remove leaves that might catch on fire. This evening I turned the water on the back lawn,

I watered most of the plants in the garden. I watered the plants in greenhouse five. We got dressed in our Sunday clothes. The church meetings were good. After dinner I went back to greenhouse five and most of the plastic had some off. We then went for a drive around town. We stopped for a minute to look at the fire in the east mountains. The car brakes have a grinding sound.

rain
The kitten began cry. I shut my bedroom door.
We put some cat food and water by the front door. The kitten ate some while we were asleep.
These are some of the flowers that we bought yesterday. Carol found where the kitten was hiding. She saw it go into the bathroom. It went in heating vent. I gave it a lot of thought and decided to make a pathway to the front door. I then thought a friend of mine had a trap he used to catch a skunk. I called him and he came over with a trap. Carol got a can of cat food. Richard set the trap.
