Were Ready

When I got up this morning the shower curtain was down. heard it fall during the night. I put back up and then showered. Later in the morning I secured it so it would fall again. Carol went to her exercise class. I started the water on the dahlias. I also watered the potatoes. Carol made bacon and tomatoes sandwiches which were really good. We need to water the plants while we go to Las Vegas. We considered hiring someone, but they might fall on the front porch steps.

We had a surprise visit from Holden and his family. They were on their way to St George. I drilled holes in the PVC pipe and set it at an angle. I put the end of garden hose in the pipe and then turn on the water just a little bit.
This looks like a dead cat. But this is Tiger asleep in the grass.
I turned the water on the dahlia garden.
The hibiscus plant is blooming. This is the first bloom of the summer.
I built this a couple days ago. The hose is inserted on the left.
I did this one today. The hose is inserted on the right.

Getting Ready

I haven't posted anything for a couple of days. There has been a lot of smoke in the air because of the fires east and south of Fillmore. We drove to Fillmore. Carol went to State bank got some money. We filled the car with gas. Carol got some medication. I got some things at Roper's. We bought some groceries. We are going to go to Las Vegas in the morning. We will be gone over night. I am getting things ready today. I watered the garden and baskets and tubs.

I watered the flowers in the kidney.

I walked out the front door to see how the plants were doing. There were humming birds flying all around the front porch and the hummingbird feeder.

Trip to Payson

After breakfast this morning we drove to Payson. We found a place to park and walked to the temple door. after the session was over, we went to Wendy's for a soft drink and a sandwich. We stopped in Nephi for ice cream cones. We stopped at the post office and then home. I don't like the hose that we use to water the lawn. I drove to Fillmore and bought a 50ft hose at Roper's. It was too short. We need a 75ft hose. about a month ago I found a hose by the shed where we keep the lawn mower.

This is the hose I bought at Roper's. It is too short. I will take it back.
I the cutter and pliers to remove the part where I made a mistake.

Relish

After breakfast this morning, I watered the plants on the front porch. Carol went to her exercise class. While she was gone, I tried to connect to a different TV antenna. No success. When she came home, we picked up the mail. I did some watering in the garden.  We went to Fillmore and got some groceries. It was time for lunch when we got home. We had warm-ups from yesterday. We picked some more cucumbers. After lunch Carol made some relish. I wanted to print some labels. I found the labels, but I couldn't the computer in my bedroom to connect to the printer in the family room.

Ten bottles of relish without labels.

Here is a photo of morning glory one the west side of the garage. I call them angle flowers.
In the center of this topaz melon plant is a tiny melon. The drying male flower is still attached.
Carol is putting the lids on the bottles of relish. The bottles of relish then are put in boiling water for ten minutes. I watered the potatoes in greenhouse two and also I watered the tubs and baskets on the front porch.

After the Rain

Everything was pretty wet this morning. Even though it rained, I watered the baskets and tubs on the front porch. We watched some of the morning TV shows. I went to get the mail, but Tony Deardon was parked on our driveway. He brought us some squash. I then went to the post office. Later this morning I went out to the greenhouses. I covered Robert's tiller.

Morning glory. This is growing greenhouse six. I call it Angel flowers because the flower is white.
I covered Robert's tiller with a tarp and secured it so the wind couldn't blow the tarp away

Most of the peaches and cream is showing silk. This plant is showing a large ear of corn. Should be ripe in a couple of weeks.
We road over to the Book Barn where Carol got three books. After we walked out to the garden, Carol picked some cucumbers. There is a fire south Kanosh in a place called dog valley. We can see the smoke from out yard.

A couple pictures of dahlias from our dahlia garden.

We never plant sun flowers. The seeds drop.

Monday

It was another hot night. I watered all the plants this morning on the front porch. Carol went to her exercise class. We drove to Fillmore. Carol got some money to send it to her sister, Anne, to help with expenses associated with her daughter. We filled the car with gas and bought a few groceries. I watered the lawn which is west of the driveway. I watered some of the plants in the garden. We had spaghetti for lunch. It started to sprinkle a little, so I went into the house. I could hear thunder somewhere south of Holden. It began to rain hard. The rainwater was pouring of the roof.

Here the water running off the roof.
It is really splashing on the front sidewalk. It stopped raining and the sidewalk dried up. there were some puddles of water in the garden.

Mowed Lawn

This morning I got the mail.

Carol wanted to go to the store, but she didn't feel well enough to go. She made a list of things she wanted me to get. So, I went to the store and bought the things that she wanted. Carol made spaghetti for dinner.  Richard came.

The grass is really tall. I mowed the front lawn.
I stopped at Roper's got a price quote of a tiller. I may buy one for the garden,

Twenty-fourth

This morning we didn't have breakfast. We went to the park where parked the car. We set in front of the car. The sun was shining. Soon the parade began. The following photos illustrate the activities of the morning.

The young men and young women posted the flags through out Holden.

A lot of boys and girls-built rockets out of pop bottles. Some of the rockets went high. They went up and down st fast that I couldn't get a picture.
This a picture of few of the people who were there.

Holden fire trucks were in the parade. The kids in the truck were throwing out candy.

The Holden ward bishopric is riding this.
Just an interesting car. I don't know who is in the car.
Primary boys and girls are on this truck.

More fire trucks and boys and girls and candy.
Cars parked across the road from us.
These are cars parked close to the church.  Another activity are races. There was different age groups racing. I was in the 85 and older group, there was five of us. I didn't win.

State Bank

This morning after breakfast I watered the baskets and tubs. I didn't water in any of the greenhouse because of the good rain that we got yesterday. We drove to Fillmore. Carol bought a lot of greeting cards. We then went to state bank to get my laptop fixed. It took them a long time, but they got it fixed. We then came home for lunch. Carol made hotdog sandwiches. We had frozen TV dinners for supper and a dish of ice cream.

I took a photo of a half-moon in the southeast sky.
What little poly that was on greenhouse five blew off the west end.

Dermatologist

This morning after breakfast I watered the plants on the front porch and in greenhouse five. I also watered the potatoes. We watched TV. We didn't have lunch. Instead, we went to Fillmore clinic to be exsamed by the dermatologist.

The weather was bad. There was no TV reception. I tried to fix it but failed.

The flowers in the dahlia garden got a good soaking.
The vegetable garden really got wet.
The water was running of the roof.
The rain was coming down very fast.
The dermatologist removed a large scab on my cheek.
The peaches and cream sweet corn is showing silk.
