The Outside Nativity is Finished

I drove Carol two Fillmore for her physical therapy this morning.  We were a little late because I took the clothes out of the dryer.  We put them away.  I helped her into the car.  I forgot my phone.  I went back in the house and grabbed my phone.  We were a little late. I helped Carol out of the car and took here into the Revere building.  I told her as I left that I was going to buy a new television.  I then drove to Dan Speakman's place and had him get me a TV.  He made a note and will call me when he gets it.

I took the picture of a small Christmas tree at the Revere building.

I had planned to go back home and add some oil to the car.  Instead I stopped at Dearden's and had them change the oil.  They didn't change it,  They added two quarts.  I went back to the therapy building and waited with Carol for about a half hour.  We got home and had some lunch.  After lunch I borrowed the wheelbarrow and started to hall compost on the garden.

I would partially fill the wheelbarrow and push it to the garden.
I put the compost in all of the rows from last summer.
I got the extension cord from house three.  I hooked it up to another cord.  I got a pair of blocks and inserted a piece of ply wood. I was tight.  I then hooked the lamp to the plywood.  I got both ready and put them in front of the Nativity.  I checked it out after dark.  It looks pretty good.

Saturday and Sunday

Saturday

A couple of days ago I saw a mouse run under the dryer in the laundry room.  Richard set a trap for it.  The mouse ate off the peanut butter.

I tied a small piece of ham with some tread to the trigger.  A couple days ago I caught the mouse.
I got a better picture of the Christmas tree.
I watched a couple of wood working show.  They were all re-runs.  I put up the nativity set the Lisa gave us many years ago.  I arranged the pieces sort of like they should be.  Carol put them in the right place.

Sunday
Nothing special today.  We had a nice dinner which was a frozen lazoni and frozen peas.  I also made tapioca pudding which was pretty tasty.  We watch the ZOOM presentation of sacrament meeting. The meeting was clear to start with.  We heard the first speaker who was one of the missionaries.  The second speaker was his companion.  We didn't hear him or see him because of a technical glitch.

We then had the sacrament.  I blessed both the bread and the water and passed it to Carol and Richard.  We then listened to Tyler and Taylor and their discussion on the Moroni.  The last chapter in the Book of Mormon.

Then we ate dinner as described above.

I helped Carol with here physical therapy.  She does that a couple of times a day.   She has another session tomorrow morning at the Revere building in Fillmore.

Up With the Tree

This morning I took Carol to her physical therapy session.  While she was in therapy, I filled the car with gas,  Had tire air pressure adjusted.  Bought some groceries and then went the Revere building where she was in therapy.  I was invited to watch her.  She was there for nearly two hours.  We went to the post office where I got a seed package.  It was for geraniums.  They were all the same.  I thought I ordered a mix.  I hope to sent them back Monday.  After lunch I put up our Christmas tree.  I didn't finish until about 5:30.  I thought that I finished earlier.  Carol sit on the sofa and found opened more boxes and I put on more ornament.  I put about sixty-four differed crocheted icicles that her mother made.

Here is the finished tree even it is a little fuzzy

Thanksgiving Dinner

At seven this morning, I turned on the TV news as I always do except the weekend.  I got the Macy Parade.  We watched that some while I prepared breakfast.  Carol had cornflakes and I had Old Fashion Oatmeal mush.  I had a fried egg on a piece of toast.  Richard went spotting deer.  When he got home he prepared his breakfast.  We spent the rest of the morning preparing our Thanksgiving dinner of potatoes, Jell-O salad, the turkey breast, dressing, etc.

We set down to a nice dinner.

We had a little napping after dinner.

Sorry, I forgot to take some pictures.  Elizabeth and Lisa called.  Carol and I went for a drive up and down the streets of Holden.  She made here way out the door, down the steps and over to the car.  She set on a pillow to be higher which made it easy for her to get in and out of the car.

We have a lot to be thankful for.  Warm or cool home depending on the season.  We always have plenty of food.  A car that is paid for.  A temple marriage.  The Book of Mormon and other scriptures.  We are free from Covid 19.

Dermatologist

I got up this morning and dressed in my better clothes.  I drove to the Revere building in Fillmore.  I wore my mask into the room, I had a short wait and was soon called into the exam room.  The Doctor used the liquid nitrogen to freeze those things on my face, ears, and the back of my hands.

Richard took this picture of the right side of my face.  There was one sore that hasn't heeled in six months.  The Doctor took a biopsy to see if it was cancerous.

I worked most of the afternoon putting up the Christmas light.  It went better than I expected.

I came home and started to put out the Christmas lights on the front porch.

Finished Pruning the Yew Shrubs

A little snow during the night.  Richard drove to Nephi to take care of the unemployment problems and a few other issues.  I didn't get started outside until this afternoon.  I put the shredder back into the shed.  I picked up the mail.

I worked on the shrub on the left for several hours.  When I started, "how am I going to tame this shrub?"  But I just started to prune.  I used my hand pruners and cut off a little.  I ended up getting my loppers so I started lopping away.    When finished both sides looked pretty much the same.
I had a large piece of burlap which I laid down on the grass and placed all the pruning on top of it.  I filled it up twice, and dumped in the garden.  Christmas lights next.

Food, Food, Food

Several times during the day I would help her with her physical therapy.  I would also put the cold pack on her knee.  I started

I planed on driving the truck out to the shed and load all of the nativity pieces in  the truck.  I hooked a couple of extension cords to the truck heater and would come back about an hour later and start the truck.  I pulled the shredder out of the shed and then picked up a piece and took to the front yard.  Some were shall and could carry two.  I got most of the to the front yard and put two large pieces together.  They were so heavy, I decided to use the two wheel cart.  I walked over to the greenhouses and there was water running from house six.  I shut off the ball valve.  I got the cart and hauled the rest of the pieces to the front yard.

There are a couple of pieces on the cart.  I laid them down.  The wise men on the east and the shepherds on the west.  I rounded up all of the conduit pipes of the right size that I could find.  I drove them into the lawn.  The tall ones for the tall wise men and the short pieces for the lambs and other animals that were laying down.  I stood all of the pieces up and proceeded to attach them to the conduit.  I made a small hole through piece.  Then in inserted a tie wire through the hole and brought it back through the hole from the front.
The tie wire is holding this one.
Here are two examples of a short and long conduit.
I used duck tape on some other ones.  It seems to hold.
On this one I used a grabber screw that went all the way through and stuck out the other side a little.
I walked back to greenhouse six to see what parts I might need.  The wood chips are all wet.
This is where the pipe broke.  It broke a little below the valve.  It should be an easy fix.
A view from the back side of the nativity pieces.
A close look shows the wire.  It is the black horizontal piece just left of the middle.
I pruned the yew shrubs,   I finished the one on the right and hope to the one on the left tomorrow.  I took me nearly two hours.
I hauled the branches out to the garden and dumped them on the south compost pile.  Richard to Carol to her physical tharapy in Fillmore.  They came back about and one and one half hours.
she wanted the cold pack on her left knee.  I put more ice in the machine and put the pack on her knee.

Carol's left foot was twisting and turning.   I gave her a blessing that she asked for.
This is how the nativity looks when I finished today

Sunday

Sunday morning:  woke up, showered, and shaved.  I shave Sundays and Thursdays each week.  I read the last chapter in the Book of Mormon.   In the morning I will be starting over.  Richard starting to feel much better and stronger.  He fed the cats and kittens.  Three kittens which are pretty hungry and pretty wild.

I helped Carol get dressed.  Her knee is awful painful.  She had a piece of toast.  I turned on the radio where we listen to talks by different church leaders, some church news, and the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

I made three servings of mush out of old fashion oats.  Richard had one bowl and I had one.  There's one left for tomorrow morning.  I had a fried egg on a piece of toast.  At ten we watched the sacrament meeting on Zoom.  We were able to hear it pretty good at the beginning but the audio could did not keep up with the video.  We then watched Taylor and Tyler talk about the part of the last chapter in the book of Mormon.

Lisa fixed a chicken and potato dinner made out of a sauce, four large chicken breasts and quartered potatoes.  Several times during the day I helped Carol with her physical therapy exercises.   I also put the cold pack on her knee three different times.

Well wishers called several times during the day.

We had supper.  The weather has been cool.

Lisa Goes Home

Richard left this morning to visit his daughter and grandkids.  It was his oldest grandson's birthday today.  He is seven years old.  Carol and I had breakfast before Lisa was up.  When she got up she began to clean again.  She went into the bathroom and was there a long time.  We thought that she was having a problem in there.  Carol hollered but not very loud, "are you okay" the answer was, "yes."   It turned out that she was cleaning.  She cleaned the tub, floor, basin, walls, and toilet.  The tub was as clean as the day that I put it in over twenty years ago.

She went to Fillmore to get some ice for Carol's ice pack.  While there she bought a broom, some cleaning supplies, and dry mop.    She mopped the kitchen floor.  Before she left she filled the slow cooker with dry potato soup.  She put some ham in it.

Richard came home a little after five.  He seems to be feeling a little better.

Carol seems to be feeling a little better.  She gets up and does the washing.  She also unloaded the dish washer.  I have been helping her with the her physical therapy which she is to do several times a day.  She says that she wished that she never had the knee operation and she wasn't going to do the other knee.

The weather has been cool.

Scrubbing Lisa

I was up early and set up my lap top at the west end of the kitchen table.  I turned on the kitchen light to see without brothering Lisa who was sleeping in the front room.  Richard was up soon and waited in the recliner.  After a while Carol was up and went into the bathroom.  She said that she slept pretty good in the bed that we fixed for her.  She was able to get into bed and out of bed without any help.  I helped her dress and forgot to put on my mask.  She turned on the TV and we watched some news.  I had my old fashion bowl of mush,  Richard boiled some eggs.  He shelled one of them and gave it to Carol.  Richard fried a perfect egg for me.  Lisa was the last one up.

I fed the cats and the kittens.  The three little kittens were really hungry.  They would rather eat than run away.  When their stomachs are full, they ran away.  Lisa asked for a stepladder.
She worked all morning cleaning the kitchen.  She removed everything from the tops of the cupboards and washed them.   She removed the papers that kept the off the dust.  She washed and washed some more.  She cleaned all the cupboards fronts and doors.  It wasn't a simple wash over, but a deep cleaning.   We watched President Nelsons talk to the people of the world on gratitude.  He asked everyone to list something each day on social media that they were thankful for.
This afternoon I mowed up all the leaves that had fallen after I mowed three weeks ago before the big snow.  I dumped them in our compost piles.  One is getting pretty big.
This is how the back lawn looked after I finished.  The other lawns looked the same.

Carol went to Fillmore for physical therapy.  I helped into Lisa's car and Lisa drove her there.  She was pretty tired when she got back.

Lisa made tacos for supper.  They were really good, but the shells were really brittle making it difficult to eat them.

Another Trip to Nephi

Lisa spent the night with us.  She fixed breakfast with eggs and toast,  I drove to Nephi again.  Richard drove to see the unemployment office.

I went into the hospital and met with a couple of receptionist.  I told them that I was there to see Carol.  She was going to lead me to her room.  I explained that I had been at the dentist last Thursday, he tested positive to Covid.  After she consulted with several people and doctors I was told that I couldn't see her.  While I was waiting, Richard came in.  The employment office was closed.  I pleaded my case.  Eventually she took us into another exam room and again we were told that there was no way that we would be able to see her.  We went out.  Richard got in his car and I got in my car and drove home.

When we got home, Lisa drove to hospital in Nephi.  I put on my work close .  I wanted to empty the truck.  The battery was dead.  I put the on the charger and left it on for over an hour.

We went to the post office and got the dump key.  It didn't take long to dump.  We then had lunch.  The wind has been blowing pretty hard.
I got a picture of some changes at the greenhouses.  This is house four that is set up for LED lights.

Lisa came back home with a huge supply of food and a box of things from some or our grand kids.

Fixed Lawnmower

Up early again this morning.  Turned up the thermostat and showered.  Read from the Book of Mormon,   Fixed breakfast of old fashion oats and fried egg.  Richard had Cheerios.   I left Holden at eight

I took this picture of the east entrance of the hospital.  This is not our car.  Our car is in the bottom right corner.

When I got there she was not in her room,  I asked someone if they knew where she was.  He said that she was in therapy and would be back in forty-five minutes.  She was back in ten minutes. Carol was doing a lot better.  Still a lot of pain, but physical therapy last night and again this morning.
Carol had a melted cheese sandwich and I had Chinese chicken.  It was pretty good.    I left when Carol went to her afternoon physical therapy.  I got stuck behind five slow moving trucks at Mills wasn't able to pass them until I got over the hill and could see down to Scipio.

I drove to Fillmore to get the tire pressure fixed,  but because of the warm weather, it fixed itself.  I got a couple of small quarter size batteries at Ropers and went to Penny's to get a new part for the lawnmower.  The guy there didn't sell me a new one,  He fixed the old on and didn't charge me anything.  On the way home Jim Stephenson called me and informed me that my dentist Jim Larson has Covid.  He fixed my teeth on the sixteenth at noon.  I will be tested to see if I was infected.
I put it on the lawnmower and gathered up all the leaves.
I dumped a lot of times.
And made quite a large pile.

I called Carol and told her about my dental experience.

Lisa stopped at the hospital to visit Carol.  She is going to spend the night here.

The Hospital at Nephi

Last night, Carol bathed and washed herself with the soap.  That was the instructions before she have her knee operation.  She couldn't eat anything, but she did have a little water with one of her pills.  I made some mush, but didn't have time to fry my egg.

We left Holden at seven to be there by eight.  My impression was that at eight we would go for the operation.  That didn't happen.  Carol was tested for Co-vid and the test was negative.  We had to check in and then after an other hour we were in an exam room where she scrubbed again and put on a hospital gown.  At that time the nurses hooked her up to a lot of monitoring devices.  I think we waited there for a half hour.

Carol didn't want any photos of her.  I took photos of where she was.  The above photo is of the wall where the headboard would be.  Some of the instruments are on the wall.
The bed with the TV monitor laying on the bed.
An information chart.  Pain scale, phone number
Three nurses came in and got Carol out of bed.  Using a walker and the guys hanging on to her she slowly walked out the door into the hall.
She went about twelve feet and was to tired to go further. The put her in a wheel chair and pushed back into her room.  She was more comfortable in the chair than she was in bed.  She still in the chair when I left at four.

I drove home with the cruse on eighty.  Richard called and asked about Carol said that he was at the hot springs west of Meadow.  There was a group of three truck going very slow up the hill.  I had to break to avoid hitting the back one.  At the top of the hill I met the sun so bright that I couldn't see a thing except the sun.  I braked some until I got over the top and went down the other side.
The guys covered three of the greenhouses.  House four, five, and six.

It was dark when Richard showed up.  We had supper of warm ups.

Eric, Lisa, & Emi

I was up early this morning and read from the Book of Mormon. Carol was up a little bit later.  Eric, Lisa, Emi were up much later.  I took care of the two chickens and then watched the three wood working shows.  The got up and fixed breakfast.  Bacon and eggs and bread were fixed.  They put the dishes in the dish washer.  After breakfast we visited and watched TV.

Eric drove me to the post office.  Why you may think?  His car was parked in front of the garage and I would be able to get our car out.  Eric brought his lap top and worked at the computer.

Around two we had lunch.   Lisa brought ham and cheese and  and bread.  we made sandwiches.  We were extremally happy that the spent some time with us,

I should have been taking pictures while we were eating and while we were visiting.  I got this phot of Emi relaxing in the swivel chair that Lisa and Eric got for us years ago.

Carol is having a operation on knee Monday morning, the day after tomorrow.  Eric and I gave Lisa a blessing.  I anointed and Eric sealed the anointing.
I wanted a selfie before the left.  I asked of a facey.  I don't know if that is a real word.  The spell check rejected each spelling try. ie. Facey, facee, facei   faceie. All I needed was a capital letter.

Delta Planer

I found some redwood in my stack of lumber.  I wanted to plane it so the red would show.  I ran it through the planer and did pretty good, but it was gouged some.  I ripped it in half ending up with two flat pieces.

One was thicker than the other. I ran the thicker one through the plainer until both pieces were the same.
I cut into four equal pieces and mitered both ends at 45 degree.  I was making a pencil box.  I should of taken some pictures of this process, but I forgot,  I ended up with with a fairly nice box.
I watched a couple of You Tube videos to see if I could fix it.  It said to clean the rollers.  With clean rollers the wood would go through with out stopping or slowing down.  The rollers in my machine did not need cleaning.  The front roller was damaged.  I took it off and it is in the above photo.
I carried the planer and put on the back of the truck and it is going to the dump when the snow melts some.
The birds got fed again.  They eat a lot of hen scratch.  d
I watched a video that showed a good way to use sandpaper.  I taped the sandpaper to the smooth workbench and pushed to pencil box back and forth.  I used a small brush to remove the dust.  It looked like a new piece of sandpaper;

Lisa, Eric, and Emi brought some food and we had supper together.   It's been along time since we have seen Eric.  They are staying the night with us.
