Sunday & Monday

We started Sunday with breakfast.  Carol had an abscessed tooth that was hurting so much that she wasn't able to eat any breakfast.  We did go to church and attended both meetings.  A family, Doug and Jan Allen. that recently moved into our ward were the speakers.  When we got home, we had dinner which was some of the food that was left over from Thanksgiving.  We watched several TV shows about the church.  One was about the mission of Jesus Christs which was very good.   Carol's abscessed tooth was hurting so bad that she asked for a blessing.  I did the anointing and sealing of the blessing.  We went to bed about a quarter after ten.  I suggested that she should go to the ER to get a shot.  She didn't want to.

Monday Morning

I was up fairly early and read from the Book of Mormon.  Carol was up later and didn't get any sleep.  She didn't want to eat anything. I ate my old fashion oar meal mush.  I fried my egg and put it on a slice of toast.   It was nearly eight when she called the dentist.  She left a message and soon after that she got the call go to the dental office.  She drove and then went in and then right to the dental chair.  I set on chair at the side and watched Jim Stephenson, who was the dentist that worked on here.  He did a root canal.  After much drilling and ex-rays and one hour and fifteen minutes later finished.

It was very expensive.

We went home and I went to the Service Drug to get prescription.   I got some milk and bread at the Fillmore market.  By evening, a lot of the swelling had gone down and she was feeling a lot better.  She had to eat slice of bread with her medication.

Trip to Orem

This morning we displayed the nut crackers and globe items.  The nutcrackers above the TV and the milk safe.  It took most of the morning.  We had breakfast which mush and a fried egg on toast.  I had turkey day left overs.  Carol's tooth hurt so much that she didn't eat anything.

We put the Christmas tree up yesterday.  I turned on the lights and took the picture this morning.  I took several other pictures but they were of poor quality.  Richard came.  He followed.  We then drove to Robert's house in Orem.  All of Robert and Jeanes kids were there.

Decorated Christmas Tree

Carol wanted me to remove the large tubs of geraniums that were on the front porch.

We worked all morning putting up the Christmas tree and putting on the ornaments.  The photo is not to good.  The light coming through the window interferes with the photo.  After the tree was up, I brought in all the totes that contained the ornaments.  I brought in one tote that had the bulbs for the old tree.  I labeled in and took it back to the garage.  There might have been over a thousand ornaments.
I brought the cart over and put one of the big pots on it.  I wheeled it out to the garden where it will be until next spring.  I came back for the other pot and did the same with it.
Both pots are out of the way in the garden.  There was to pots of geraniums by the garage door.  I got another cart and took them to house five.  There was water running in house four.  The pipe froze and when it warmed up water begun to spray.  This was about three this afternoon.  I shut off the water and gathered up some tools.  I sawed off the pipe about three inches above the ground.  I hoped that the cut was below the bottom crack.
This is how part of the stem looked.  cleaned away the weeds.  I looked around for a valve and some PVC part to fix it.  I found parts in house three and in several trips to the garage I got all the things that I needed.
I I glued on a elbow and a short nipple.  By now it about four.  I let the connection sit until six.  I opened the valve.  I came back at six and turned the water back on.  I adjusted the water to a heavy drip.  Every was good.  I came back at eight to check again.  It was good.

Thanksgiving Day

Slept in a little this morning.  The night was much colder and the furnace came on several times during the night.  I was up by myself and was able to read from the Book of Mormon.

Carol and I pealed a lot of potatoes and cut them into small pieces.  Lisa, Eric, Emi, Skyler, and Emily came were up one at a time and had some cereal.  I had a bowl of oatmeal mush sweetened with honey.  I didn't have an egg this morning.

I have a pair of overalls that are worn out and look like hole-y pants that are in fashion with girls and women today.

Emi wearing my old overalls.
Emily wearing my hole-y overalls.  I am going to have a contest on Face Book to see who I will give the clothes to.  Will it be Emi or will it be Emiley.

The table was set for seven and the dinner was served buffet style.

Several months ago, I cut off at the ground one tomato plant and hung.  It had several green tomatoes that have since ripened.  I picked two of them.  Carol sliced them for dinner.   We used paper plates that Lisa provided.  We didn't have to wash them.  We filled our plates and then went to the table in the other room.
Lisa and Eric on one side of the table.
Emily and Skyler and Emi were on the other side of the table.  I was at the head of the table and Carol was on the opposite end across from me.  A little after dinner we played a game.  The players would describe something with one word.  Everyone would guess who or what it was.  I didn't do very well on that game.   Eric made three pies.  We ate one.  The pies were really good.  We put leftover food in containers and put them in the fridge.  It was a little after three when they went home.  There was a little meet left on the turkey bones.  Carol pulled it off and fed it to the cats.

We removed all of the pictures that were on the TV stand.   The nut crackers will be put there.
We took all the pictures off the milk safe.  It is ready for the Christmas balls, etc.
The fern plant has been in front of the fireplace for years.  I put it on a taller stool and put it in Carol's bedroom.

Two Potatoes

Had a good breakfast of eggs and toast.  Soon as breakfast was over, I brought into the house a good bunch of large potatoes.  I had them in a tote to keep any soil from going into our septic tank.  As water was running in the tote, I scrubbed the potatoes.  I poured the water on what?  I can't remember what I planted in the other pots.  The first one is the grape cuttings.

After lunch we went to Fillmore where Carol hand an appointment with Docter Allan, her heart doctor.  We were in the waiting room for forty-five be for she saw the doctor.

I washed and scrubbed the red potatoes first.
Carol cleaned and scrubbed the sweet potatoes and wrapped them in foil.  They were baked until tender.

Rock Houns

Everything was pretty much as usual except for a phone call from Robert.  He was going to go to the hills west and north of Milford, Utah.  He was leaving Orem in a few minutes. He invited me to go with him.  We drove to Beaver and then west to Milford.

The price for regular gas was $3.889 per gallon.
He filled up his tank.  I didn't notice the total amount.  We then drove to Milford.  The rest of the pictures illustrate our trip.
This is one of the shafts.  I dropped a small rock into the shaft.  I heard it land.  Robert came over and dropped a larger rock.  We heard it hit and then we could hear it rolling.  I am sure that the hole is at least one hundred feet deep.  A criminal could drop a body into the hole and nobody would ever find it.
Robert walking safely around another shaft.
Robert is standing on top of pile of rock tailings.  We were looking for a small mining town.  Robert found it and all that was left was the garbage dump.  He found a few pieces of glass.
I wanted to take this piece of dead weathered juniper.  It was too big to fit in Robert's.  Car. We would have to come back with a chain saw to cut it loose.
A huge Claret Cactus.  Next spring it would be a solid cluster of red flowers.
A lot of rusty cans.  This one looks like a bread pan.
This one is a number ten can.
This looks like a part of a cow bone.  Most has been eaten or rotted away.
I can tell about this one.  I may be an ant hill.
Another rusty tin can.
A photo looking to the top of the hill.  Clear blue sky.
Looking at the skyline in the other direction.  Robert's car is at the bottom.
Robert's car near the main road.  Main road is probably inaccurate.  A more traveled road would make more since.
We stopped near this old abandoned mill.  Off to the right there were lots of rock that contained copper.  We spent a lot of time there.  Robert wants to come back with a sledge hammer.
Looking down in the valley there is a road.  It's a vertical line near the center of the photo.

There is a lot of dead junipers.  The drought has been hard on them.  We then looked for obsidian.  We found quite a bit of larger pieces.  We then headed home.  We drove on Pass road going east until we got to Beaver.  We stopped a a gas station to go to the bathroom.  Robert bought cheese balls to eat on the way home.

Church Services

I read a short chapter in Alma in the Book of Mormon.  Regular breakfast this morning. A Hardboiled egg for Carol and old fashion oat meal mush and fried egg for me.  We listen to Tyler and Terry on You Tube.  Choir practice this morning at nine.  Carol drove me to church and I walked into the relief society room.  I walked right out and to the chapel and there found the choir.  We practiced a hymn that we sang during the sacrament meeting.  We also practiced songs for the Christmas program.

The speakers did a good job and our Sunday school teacher did really well.  We came home for a good dinner.  Watched a little TV and napped a little.  We went for a ride around town.  I shut the door on houses five and six.  The furnace was running in house five.  It is getting darker earlier.

Paul Johnson Funeral

This morning we had a fried egg on a piece of toast.  I had catchup on mine and Carol had mayonnaise on hers.  After eating our toast and egg and a final bathroom break, we got in the car and drove to Tooele for the funeral.  We drove towards Delta and took the short cut to Lynndyl.  It rained a little or had rained most of the way.  Carol had a need to go to the bathroom as we drove through Lynndyl.  The need become greater as we drove.  As we got closer to the road to Tooele it was getting ergent.  A sign ahead said rest stop was closed. we turned to the right on the exit road.  There was a cable across the road.  I lifted it up and we walked through.  The women's side was locked so she went into the men's side.  It was very dirty was an under statement.  I went back to the car and got most of the paper napkins that were in the car and gave them to her.  We were soon on the way to Tooele.  I used the map on my phone which helped us to get on the right road.

We found the church after a few turn arounds to get on the right road.  Once at the church we went through the line and expressed our sorrow to his wife and eight children for the death of my brother.

The funeral services were the best that I have ever heard.  All of the speakers spoke of the importance of the Jesus Christ in our lives.

We went to the cemetery.  It was quite cold.  Carol wore her light jacket. We were able to sit on the front row under a canopy.  Robert drove our car to gate which was much closer the grave site.  We then went back for a dinner prepared by the people in Paul's ward.  The dinner was really good.
Paul's brothers and sisters and cousins are in the above photo.  Carol and I are on nine and ten from left to right.
Another photo.
The ride home was enjoyable because the fluffy clouds and we could see forever on a clear day.
We were facing the sun so when a large cloud obscured the sun, I took the pictures.  We stopped in Delta and filled the car with gas.  It was a little after four when we got home.  I fed the cats  and then got some Christmas presents that Melissa and Derik gave us.  Betsy also gave us a present.
