Unprodictable

I had no idea of what happened today when I got up.  I had made some plans for the day.   Today's weather was the same as it has been over the last couple of weeks.  So rain and then some shine was the procedure of the day.  We watched some of the news and had our breakfast which is typical.

A few minutes before nine the phone rang.  It was Carol Gager.  My Carol answered the phone and went into the front room.  Carol Gager was sick and wanted a ride to the hospital.  Carol quickly left, picked her up, and went to the emergency room.
The above sweet potato has a nice stem.  I cut it off and put it in a plastic quart bottle.
The photo is pretty fuzzy.  It shows both the cutting and the sweet potato.
I watched a TV show at nine.  It was over at ten and I thought that I might get a call from Carol.  I walked over to the Bray home and got the above picture.  The big crain in back of the house is lowering a septic tank into the groung.   I waited around.  Did a little work on my Balance Sheet that I was to prepare for the bank.   Eleven came, twelve came.
I had planned to make a salad from the lettuce in house two.  The lettuce was huge.  I cut about half of it away and gave it to the chickens.  I washed the rest off it in the kitchen sink.  There were a lot of slugs in it.  Some very small and a few were larger.  There were also some earwigs and pill bugs.
I put radishes and a red bell pepper from house two in the salad.  Also peas from the freezer, and some raisons.  And one egg from the hen house.  I used home made salsa for the salad dressing.
I planted a row of radishes in house six about a week ago and they are starting to germinate.  It was hard to find one for a photo because they are under the drip line.  A little right of center there is one which has shed the seed skin.
I started to clean the bench in house six.  There is a lot of junk on it and no place to put anything.  There was room underneath to put some supplies.   I found an eight by two foot piece of plywood.  I cut it in half and fits perfectly under the bench.
There are a few supplies on the shelf under the bench.
I hung a line between two posts and hung all the Tomahooks that had fallen to the floor.

The Bray house changes everyday.
The pictures are taken from two different directions.

Carol made it home from the hospital.  She brought Carol Gager back home.  She was given a lot of tests and is feeling much better.  She has a few more tests next week.

More Clean-up Pad One

I didn't write anything Saturday or Sunday, therefore I do the writing this evening.
I plant Detroit Red Beet seeds at the end of each week.  This one is done Saturday morning.  105 cells in the tray.
I did a lot of weeding in house one.  This is the isle on the west side between the eggplants and tomato plants.  I drug the drip tape out the north end to make room for my hoe.  Looks much better now.
I transplanted the first tray of red beets that were planted four or five weeks ago.  There were thirteen out of the 105 tray.  They are planted in the north raised bed in house two.
Last week I planted a few English cucumber seeds.  They are coming up now.
A volunteer seed came up here.  I looks like it might be a white pumpkin.  It is the size of a softball.
I was picking cucumbers this morning and found this cluster of green tomatoes on the ground.  They are soo heavy that gravity caused them to break off.
I last picked Friday morning.  By this morning, Monday, there were a lot of cucumbers.  I pick 2 1/2 totes of cucumbers.  I sorted them.  Burpless, medium, and small pickling.  One person has asked for pickling cukes.
Above a picture of the second tote.  I took one tote of cucumbers and six bunches to the post office.  There were five ugly cucumbers left this evening.
I moved a lot of pots out two pad one.   Watering of plants at pad one is controlled by a timer.  It comes on every morning at three and turns off at one hour and fifty-five minutes later.  The depth of the water is about 2 1/2 inches.  Above are tri-star strawberry plants.
Late this afternoon I cleaned a larger area to make room for more plants.  As said earlier; this pad saves a lot of watering time.
I brought up around sixty pots.

Finished in House Six

I met with Dave Dallen and completed the income tax work.

Carol and I went to Fillmore for a few groceries and to fill the car with gasoline.  After we got home, Carol made tuna fish sandwiches.  The tasted really good.

Robert and Frank came and were here for a couple of hours.

It rained some during the day.
The above picture and the one below show the clean up that I did this afternoon.

I built another shelf on the north end of house six.  I cut 14 inch 2x6 diagonally to make two brackets,  The brackets were held to the wall with pocket screws.  Two on the top and two on the bottom.
Close up of the bracket used to hold the shelf.
It took me a couple of hours this afternoon to remove all dried tomato plants.  There is a big pile of old tomato plants west of the door in house six.
This is all that was left from the huge pile of ice that was there in February.

Accomplishments Today

Yesterday, Carolyn Stevens brought me some seeds.  She wanted a little advice in planting them.  I thought that it would be best if I planted them and kept them in the greenhouse.

I have been planting seeds for Carolyn Stevens today I have two trays of jalapeno peppers I planted Rosemary sweet basil, Cilantro/corlander I made labels for them because my penmanship or writing is so bad.    I covered them with vermiculite and I finished watering them.
The above photo  is  of three trays.  The seeds are covered with vermiculite.  Each tray is divided in to two sections.  The three trays hold the seeds of six different seeds.  There are two other trays out of view.  Jalapeno pepper are planted in six packs.
The above list of seeds is what I planted. It is a photo of part of the spread sheet.  Carolyn's name is in front to identify the provider of the seeds.
I started building brackets for a shelf in house two.  The table they are setting on is covered with tools, and some junk.  A couple of weeks ago, I made five brackets out of 2x4's.  This was much easier because of experiences that I had and the above brackets are made out of severely weathered pine.
I thought that it would be difficult to hold the brackets to the wall because of the problem of driving screws in a tight space.  In stead I made French cleats.  I made the cleats in the garage so I had to walk back to the house several time before I got it right. The black pieces above are the cleats screwed to the wall.
The mating cleat is screwed onto the back side.
The pair of brackets are hanging on the cleats screwed to the wall.
I found an old weathered board that fits perfectly on the on the brackets.
The things on the table are on the shelf or in the garbage.
A couple of times a few chicks went out of the hen house while I was watering or feeding.  I used hook and screw to hold the door shut and on the right is a handle to pull the door shut.
The is a board on the ground on the east side of the hen house.  The board would stop the door.  I shaved the high spot with two handed gouge.
I made the above device to hold east door shut from the inside.  When it is not needed I can hang in on a nail be the door.
I built the bar out of oak to hold the hen house door closed.
West of house five is a flower bed.  I dug out the weeds and pruned the perennials there.
I spent a good half hour looking for the rake.  I finally spotted it west of house four and there were some other tools.

The notes below are taken from my phone.  I haven't learned how two dictate to my phone.

I made these two brackets today because I needed a shelf to put all of our junk on which was the French cleats are finished they're hanging on the north wall of house two.  the first French cleat so I made that are in the garage or at a 45 degree angle I cut these a lot less degree Maybe 35 need to check and see now I need to make the shell to fit on top of these cleats on top of the brackets I found an old piece of picket fence it's a good 12in wide I don't know where it came from but it is working and easy to come back and pick it up really old wood I have screws in them to hold it into place if I were doing it again I would do the screws differently instead of the screw going through the bracket I would have the screw go through the brace then that would have a Tennessee to pull it up tight into place now I'm going to figure out how to hang it on the wall. Now the table is clean it looks good. I just finished making a hook and the latch the latch and hook to hold the dork to the hen house closed. After that with a draw knife I removed some of the wood that was holding the door shut or open.. I prepared my income tax material to take to my accountant. I updated the word history by adding the Relief Society anniversary program period. I watered Roberts plants in-house 6 he has some Kohlrabi growing and several different kinds of lettuce growing in house 6. Between the lettuce he planted another he planted radishes and they are starting to come up now There are a lot of weeds coming up also. On the north side of house. There's a lot of fox tail drawing on the north side of house 6.. the wind is blowing very hard the Pauly is flapping in the Wind. I dug up some of the fox tail weed and in some places it was hard to dig because it's growing in the weed barrier. I built this device looks sort of like a anel upside down to hold the doors for her six the West doors I mean the East doors for her sick to hold those doors open.

Cleaning/Organizine

Our garage is a place for junk.  Everything that has a flat surface is covered with tools, junk. Some is really junk, but most are tools and supplies that does not have a decent storage place.  During some of this cleaning I have found tools that I haven't seen for years.
Above is my workbench made out of three 8/4 oak.  There are times that I would like lay something on the bench, but I can't because there is always something there. There is a nice vice on the right end.
I worked on the piano bench this morning. Last night I made seven plugs and glued a plug in each hole.  I used a plane to remove part of the plug sticking up above the bench.  I then sanded them even with the bench top.  I used my router to round off the edges..  Last I sanded the top one more time.
Here, I cleaned the floor and vacuumed. I did the same in other areas of the garage.
The blade  on the table saw  is very dull.  I cut some yesterday and it got very hot and began to smoke.  Don't want to have hot sawdust start a fire.
I took the saw blade into the house were the light was better for a closer look at the carbide tips.  Harbor Freight has a saw sharpener for $56. New blades cost $25 to $55.
The blade is removed and more table top to the right is cleaned.
My miter saw was very dirty.  Changing the angle  was quite difficult.  I removed the back fence which gave me a better view that made it easy to clean. I had to remove four bolts which were metic in size.  It was slow tedious work.  Finally I got them out and cleaned it up.  putting the fence back on was hard.  I had another set of sockets and wrenches in house three.  Using the right size socket made it much easier.
I watered in house two.  Above is a close-up the worm garden.  They have really been active.
I left the north door of house two open.  One or more cats came in and pooped in our raised beds.
