Sunday

Richard stayed the night with us.  But when I got up, he was gone.  Later he called and said that he needed to help a friend who had car trouble. There was no choir practice this morning.  Carol is still sick with covid.  I went to church alone.  The speakers it a good job.  Priesthood meeting went pretty well but I couldn't keep up with the reading on my tablet.  Carol had dinner ready when I got home, we watched some of the channel eleven programing. This afternoon I put the rest of the pipes away.

The topaz melon seeds are germinating in greenhouse five.
Yesterday, Robert planted the onions in greenhouse six.

Clean Ditch

The watermaster called this morning letting us know that we will have a water turn at nine.  I couldn't see that we would be ready.  My neighbor called asking how long we would need the water.  I decided that I would clean the ditch, I would need the weed eater so I charged the weed eater battery I would need to dump the truck.  I hooked the battery charger to the truck batter for an hour.  I tried to start the truck.  There was no charge.  I charged it for a half hour and still no charge.  I put the weed eater in the car trunk and then drove up to the ditch cut down all of the grass and weeds in the ditch.

The ditch looking north.
The ditch looking south.
Another look at the ditch looking south.  The weed eater battery died.  I needed another two minutes to finish.  Robert will be here around 7:30 in the morning.

topaz mellons

For several days I wanted to plant topaz melon seeds.  I literally looked high and low for the seeds.  I search all over the garage for the seeds.  I went into my bedroom where other seeds are located,  I searched the seed box in greenhouse five.  I even searched in the north garden hoping would find the fruit with some seeds from last year.  There was a board game setting the seat of a chair.  I moved it.

Underneath the game was this saucer containing the seeds.

This is a photo of the west end of greenhouse six.  I was so hot in there; I opened it so a breeze could blow through to help cool it.
I began the process of planting topaz melon seeds.  Here I filled a germination tray with potting soil.
The seeds are planted, and I covered them with fine potting soil.
I planted ten seeds in ten rows.  I watered them and all of the trays on the heating benches.

Tuesday

This afternoon I watered most of the plants in greenhouse five.

I went inside of the east shed. Nothing had changed.  There was a huge hornet nest in the eves.  I don't know how long it has been there, but it was pretty damaged.
I took this photo of a pretty group of daffodils in the front yard.  I called Robert and asked him some questions about the fertilizer injector.  I watered all the plants on the heating bench. The night-time temperature has been quite warm.  I left the east door of greenhouse five open tonight.

Busy Again

I am still sick with covid.  After breakfast we watched the morning TV shows.  I is hard for me to stay awake.  I ate some chips. I had a frozen dinner for lunch.  After lunch I worked in the garden and also in greenhouse five.  I took the following pictures.

This is a fern leaf peony that is growing in the back yard.  It shows a healthy flower bud.
It is quite a large plant showing the full size.  It is about 24 inches wide and ten inches tall.
This is one of the peonies growing in the north garden.  It usually has flowers for Memorial Day. I covered it with shredded paper late last fall.  The shredded paper will prevent small annuals from growing.
I don't know the name of this desert shrub which is blooming now.
This shows the size of the shrub.
I used my saw to cut out a broken part of the is PVC.
This is the fertilizer injector that is not working properly.   I fixed it somewhat, but it still leaks water into the large fertilizer container. Carol fixed me a bacon and egg sandwich for super which was very good.
