Big Tiller

When I got up this morning this morning, Richard was gone. He was out tilling.  I asked Jeff Whatcott to till the garden.  After breakfast, the doorbell rang. It was Jeff.  I showed him what to till.  He drove home and came back with his tractor and tiller.

He did a good job.
It was quite dusty with this dry soil.
The dust is following him,
Richard tilled a place for celebrity tomatoes.  We planted them this morning.  Richard is covering them with tomato cages,
Looking north across the garden.
We planted two rows of sweet corn.

Tilling

I planted crookneck squash, zucchini squash and two hills of crimson sweet watermelon in greenhouse two.  They were planted with the dahlia plants.   There is not enough time for the watermelons to get ripe.  Carol wanted the kidney bed to be good and wet.  I put sprinkler on the south side and later I put the sprinkler on the north side.  Richard came this evening.   I remove the tarp that covered Robert's tiller.  I got the south garden good and wet last night.  Richard tilled a row in the north garden for the celebrity tomato plants.  He tilled some in the south garden, but it was too hard and dry.   I turned the sprinkler on the south garden and let it run for thirty minutes, I moved it three times.  It was dark when turned it off.  It was about 9:30 pm.

Mow Garden

We went to Fillmore late this morning.  We bought groceries at the Fillmore market and medication and birthday cards at the drug store.   This afternoon I cut weed east of the house.  The batter died.  After supper I went out with a fresh battery and cut some more.

This is a pathway to the greenhouses.
This north of our yard.
This is the small burm that is covered with weeds and tall wild rye.
I mowed down the tall weeds.

Richfield

It was a little after twelve today when we drove to Richfield.  We went to the hospital where I checked in for the medical examination.  I passed with flying colors.   We then drove to Salina.  We stopped at the Hot Spot.  We got two hamburgers, two drinks and an order of French fries.

The ends of the drip tapes was leaking.  I folded the ends of the tape a couple of times and pressed it tight with the clamps.
I can't see the end of the drip tape because it is in the group of volunteer tomato plants.
This the front door of the hospital in Richfield.

Gassed Up the Car

We are going to Richfield tomorrow where I will have a kidney exam.  I cleaned the row where we will plant tomatoes.  I watered that row to soften the ground.  I watered the plants on the carts and those by house and the ones next to greenhouse three.

Sutherland

We had a water turn this morning.  After showering and getting dressed, I woke up Richard.  It was about 6:45 when we left the house.  Robert and I put out the irrigation pipes yesterday.  But this morning we had undo some to them.  We went up to the ditch and started the water going to our yard.  Richard raked out all the grass The water went through the pipes into our yard.  We started watering the east lawn.  I fixed breakfast.  Carol went to church.  We finished the east lawn and started the back lawn. Next the front lawn and the west lawns.  Later this afternoon we drove to cemetery in Sutherland.

We put flowers on some of the graves at the cemetery in Delta.
This the stone of my mother and dad.  We drove to Ray's house and delivered some cans of pop that came from Japan.  The were not home.

Cemetery

We drove to the Provo cemetery this morning.  Lisa and Eric drove to the Provo cemetery.  They came from Layton, Utah.  We met at the exact same time.

We worked much of the afternoon cleaning the garden.  Richard loaded some of the weed barrier on his four-wheeler and hauled it away.

Another view.   We started the tractor.  It took quite a while to get it going.  We used to remove two shrubs in the garden. We also moved the flat cattle panels and leaned against the west wall of the garage.  There were a lot of steel posts that were in the ground.  I poured water at the base of most of them.  Richard was able to pull them up.   Richard and I and Jeanne put out most of the water pipes.

Mowed the Lawn

I had a large piece of watermelon after supper.   It is sweet and crisp.
A hummingbird made a nest on a wire outside of the bathroom window.  It has been there for couple of weeks. sometimes it is leaves, but it always comes back.
This a picture of Tiger, our cat, getting something to eat.  It has been missing for a couple of days.  Sometimes when I walk near the patio, I could hear a meow.  This afternoon, it sounded like it was coming from under the house.  I went down, When I opened the door, Tiger came out.  She went up the porch steps and began to eat.
It was11:30 when I started to mow the lawn.  I pumped up the front tires.  I went up and back a couple of times.  One side of the mower was cutting really short.  I parked the mower on the driveway.  One side was the deck was touching the concrete.  One front tire was really flat.  I pumped it up and began mowing.  I mowed the front lawn, the east lawn, and part of the back lawn.  The belt that drives the mower blade came off.  Carol and I tried to fix it.  I called Richard Darnel . He came and in ten minutes he had it fixed.  I finished mowing the back lawn.

Richard called and he would be here tonight.

More Mowing

I noticed all of the weeds on the south side of the road north of our yard. I got the lawn mower and filled the tires with air.  I started to mow the weeds and grass.  I took of the grass catcher bags.  The weeds went in the air and fell to the ground.

This is looking east.  I should have taken a before and after picture.
This picture west of our driveway.
We went to Fillmore.  This is a photo of a bag full of lay pellets for the chickens.
We bought one more chrysanthemum.  This box says that the came from Layton, Utah near where Lisa lives.  We also filled the care with gasoline at LOVE'S.

Flowers

This morning, I went to the Fillmore hospital for some blood work.  After that we went to the Fillmore Market and bought mums for Memorial Day.  We then drove Lindon to get Nyleen Batty.  We walked into her house.  The TV was on but Nyleen wasn't there.  We walked all through her house.  Carol went into her back yard.  There she was.  We waited for her to get dressed for the temple.  We then drove to the Orem Temple.  After the session was over, we took Nyleen home.  We then to Sam's Club and bought some groceries.  It was a little after six when we got home.

We bought a whole bunch of chrysanthemums
I got the small step ladder, and Carol helped me hang the baskets.  We took them down a week or so ago so they wouldn't freeze.

Moved Plants

After breakfast we watched the morning TV shows.  Carol went to the post office to get the mail. There wasn't any.  I started mowing weeds when she got back. The following pictures are not order.  But they show some of the thing that I did.

I got a new source of water.  The photo shows the water pipe and the water braker.
These trays were on the bench.  I moved them to prepare the bench for other plants.
I had to take them out of house five.  They would die in the hot heat.
I mowed down all these weeds with the weed eater.

More Weeds

After the news and breakfast, we took the house garbage to the dumpster, We finished eating the Manti soup.  I went north of the greenhouse and cut weeds and grass with my weed eater, After the battery died I put it back on the charger.  It took nearly two hours to get it charged. I went out one more time and cut weeds again.

I cut grass making a path to the street going north.
This is showing the north end of greenhouse two looking east.
I went up to the ditch where we take the irrigation water.  This is looking south.   The ditch is full of weeds.  There is a chance that it might freeze tonight, This evening I got a step ladder and remove the hanging baskets and took them into the house.  I got the tree cart and pot the pomegranate bush and put it in the garage.  I also put the bedding plants in the garage.  I drove the car into the garage and was able to drive the car back into the garage. We still have crickets but not as many.  I think that it is too cold frot them to move around.

Rain.

When we got up this morning, it was raining, and it was still raining some when we got home from church.   I watered the hanging baskets.  I watered the plants in greenhouse five.  There were a few crickets.  I think that it was too cold for them to move around.

Crickets

The crickets are still here.  I was hoping that Robert would come to transplant some of our plants to greenhouse six.  He didn't come.
Yesterday I dug up the weeds in the strawberry bed.  I forgot to cover them up.  The deer came into our garden and ate off the tops.
Since Robert didn't come, I loaded most of the plants in greenhouse five that were on the benches and took them west off the driveway.  They would be in the shade of the where they would be easier to water.
This is what's left in greenhouse five.
The same bench, but from a different angle.
I moved the pomegranate to its summer location.
It has flowers and buds.  If everything goes well we will have fruit this fall.
