Blooming

A regular Monday morning.  I watered all of the indoor plants.  I fed the cats and prepared breakfast.

When watering the plants I notice that the Christmas cactus was blooming. It also had a few buds on it.  After lunch I walked out greenhouse five and watered the plants out there.  We took the house garbage out to the dump and drove around town some.

Ice

Nothing unusual so far this morning.  There was a little bit of ice on the cat's watering dish, The orange kitten and the black kitten were eating the cat food, they run away when I open the kitchen door, but now the keep eating until they are full.  Carol made good hamburger sandwiches for lunch today, we also had sliced peaches for dessert.   I was missing a white sock. Carol found it in the pantry.

I picked all of the pomegranates.  I didn't count them but I five-gallon bucket nearly full.  I put them in the garage for the night.

The Market

I fed the cats and made a batch of old fashion oatmeal mush.  We had to watch the cat food to prevent the dogs from eating it.  Later I watched in the front room.  If I saw the dogs coming, I would be able to scare them away.  They didn't come.

This morning, we drove to the Fillmore market for some groceries.  After we got home, Carol made some grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch.  I was tired of sitting in the family room I went for a walk the yard.

It Worked

It was a little warmer this morning when I got up.  After breakfast watched the mor TV shows.  After lunch I went out to greenhouse five, the furnace had come on during the bight. This afternoon we drove up and down, that is east and west every street in Holden.  This early evening, we fed the cats. We could see the dogs, so I got a chair and set on the driveway so I could watch the dogs who were across the street.  I came in the house and set on a chair in the front room. If the dogs came over, I could see them and scare them away.  The owner of the dog came and he locked them up.  We were going to meet with April in the morning.  She called and said that kids were sick.  We will go on another day,

Snow

During the night when I looked out the window it looked like snow.  It was too dark to be able to tell for sure.  I got up and showered I could see that there was some snow on the ground.  Richard was gone.  After breakfast I shoveled the snow off the driveway. I took the three pictures below.

This is looking north across the street.  The neighbor's house is across the street north of us.
his is the back yard looking at the back yard looking south.   The south end of the garage is on the right and the corner of the house is on the left.
This the front sidewalk.  Later this morning I shoveled the snow off driveway and sidewalk.  I walked out to greenhouse five.  Everything there was good.  I walked across the road tw report that throw dogs have been eating cat food, He said that their dogs get out of their kennel where it is broken.  He then to their dogs and family. They are building a house there. Richard left for a while.  He shot a coyote.  We had omelets for supper.

More freezing

I watched the morning news this morning and then fed the cats.  After breakfast we watched the morning TV shows.  Later I picked up the mail. It was a little before lunch when I went out to greenhouse five and began to water some of the plants.  When I turned the water on it was just a trickle, in a few minutes there was a full stream.  The water in the hose was frozen.  I had a floppy joy for lunch.  I just finished lunch when the doorbell rang.  It was C.R. Charlesworth.  He is a friend of ours who sells produce.  Carol bought some.  I called Adam Remkes to see if he could fix the thermostat that is in greenhouse five, He will come tomorrow around noon.  It is 7:41 now. Colombus Day

I called Andrew Brown this afternoon.  The furnace in greenhouse five hasn't been working.  He was in Arizona and couldn't come. He has an employee who lives in Holden that he would send over.  The doorbell rang.  There was at the door.  He had fixed the thermostat, and it was working. Later I went out to check it. This afternoon I did a lot of pruning of the baskets in greenhouse five.

The tempature in greenhouse five was 86 degrees.  I had to take my jacket off.
There was two large tubs of Chrysanthemums.  I cut off the dead stems.
The large dead stems shaded the new growth under the old stems. The growth can now begin to grow stronger.
This plant had a lot of geraniums in it, I cut all of the dead. It looked like there will be some new growth.
I gave the rest of the lay pellets to the chickens. There are three hens and one rooster.
Four relief Society sister visited Carol this evening for her birthday, they gave her a chocolate candy bar,

Showered, dressed and fed the cats.  I had old fashion oatmeal mush and two eggs for breakfast. I watched the morning TV shows.  We had leftovers from yesterday for lunch.  After lunch I went out to greenhouse five to see how things were.  We needed to have our car insured so we could travel and the car quit running we could call for help.

The temperature 91 degrees.
Later I fed the chickens.  There are three hens and one rooster.  The feeder is half full and it should last for a couple of months.  I worked for nearly an hour trying to print the picture and give it to Carol's sister, Nyleen.  I was not able to do it.

At four I went to the dental office to have my lower denture adjusted.  It didn't take very long, and the cost was very reasonable.

catch up

After breakfast and some of the morning TV shows we drove to Provo.  We stopped at Sam's Club and bought some cat food and some groceries.  We then drove to the Provo temple that is under construction. We also stopped at Walmart where the clerk fixed my tablet.

We stopped at the construction site.  I got out of the car and took the picture. The rest off the pictures were taken while my laptop was being fixed.
There was about an inch of snow some fell into the old frying pan that is on the patio.
The temperature in greenhouse five in the afternoon.
The snow in the north garden west of the driveway.  The snow is frozen to the tomato cages.
This is east of the driveway.
This is by the hen house.
Tiger, our cat, sitting in the snow looking up at me.
The snow on the satellite dish turned off our TV.  I cleaned it off with a broom attached to conduit pipe.

The snow on greenhouses five and six.
I stood on the front porch for this picture looking east.
I am standing pm the front porch looking north at our neighbor's house on the other side of the street.
I cleaned geraniums under the front windows before it snowed.
This plants survived the winter in a heated greenhouse without water.
I raked up leaves and put them in this large nursery pot and dumped it in the north garden.
I was able to mow up the leaves on the back lawn.  This was after Christmas.  Richard was here.  He dumped the leaves on the south garden.
This is the Christmas lights that were on the front porch.  He coiled them up and hung them up in the shed.
Water spraying in greenhouse four that turned into ice.
