Planting Corn

The first photo this morning was of the earwig trap.  There was a good bunch of earwigs.

I started the trailing sprinkler on the front lawn watering only on the west side of the sidewalk.  I started east to west and then moved it further to the north and made another east to west.

I picked four bunches of broccoli.  We took three of them and a zucchini to the post office.  They were gone except for the zucchini.

I cut down the two rows of early sweet corn.  I cleaned away all of the stems leaves and a few weeds.

Some flowers were hiding/covering a Chrysanthemums.  I drove in a stake and pulled it towards the stake with some garden twine.

This photo shows the Chrysanthemum.  It is a little bit above the earwig trap and a little to the right.

I picked a lot of the dill and stuffed into a cat food bag.  It is in the large nursery can to hold the bag upright.

There is a lot of dill plants in the garden.  There is a full row on the left side of the photo.

I planted three seeds in each hill and covered it with compost.  It is after I watered.

A Few More Trees

Yesterday we got the chrysanthemum that we put on the grave of Seria, our grand daughter.

The first thing that we done after breakfast we planted it in the kidney.

This bell end of the four inch sewer pipe was broken.  I got my hand saw and cut it off.

I dug weeds off and on all day long.  I dug out this large clump of grass.  It probably will come right back.

I dug the hole for the chrysanthemum right in the middle of a clump of daffodils.  I replanted them west of the driveway at the base of a pinion pine.  After watering them, I stuck in a short flag.  They should come up next spring.

There are strawberry plants growing with the beets.   I pulled some of the beets that  are growing around the strawberry plant.

I went back and pulled three beet plants for supper tonight.

Two more rooted sweet potato slips were planted by the cabbage plants.   There is one on the left side and the other one is on the right side.

My thickness planer dose not work so well.  I watched a You Tube video that showed a piece of plywood.  that didn't help much.  The wood is not smooth.

 The runner beans are starting to come up.  Can't see in the above picture.

This perennial salvia is looking really pretty.

 I cut down a few more trees.  I wanted to clean out the weeds.  But the trees were in the way.

I cut them into smaller pieces and loaded them on the truck.  We took them to the tree dump.

There are a lot of weed in the driveway where I park the car.  Carol has asked me to cut out the weeds.  I got the weed trimmer and started.  It would work only for a few seconds and the quit.  I started it again and again and again. 

I then got the lawn mower and mowed all of the weeds. 

 This is how it looks now.  The road is in the upper left hand corner.  It was pretty dusty.

I was a little upset when I saw some of my benches on the trailer.  I talked Shane.  He said that he would unload them.  After talking with Carol and taking another look at them, I didn't think that I would ever get to take them apart.

From A to Z

Nothing unusual this morning.  Shower, Book of Mormon reading, news, and breakfast.

Carol finished her puzzle last night and started a new one this morning.

I built another shelf in the appliance garage.  This one was much easier than the French cleft.  Evan though it was easier, I still made several mistakes and had to take it apart and put it back together again.  There are two items on top of the shelf which left a lot of room for the toaster.

I did some weeding where the peonies are;  I found this little root.  I was going to plant it in the garden some where, changed my mind.  It would get lost.  It is picture with a trowel.

I planted it in a pot and put it with the vegetable trays in house five.

These tomatoes are in house six.  I haven't been in there for several days.

This almond shrub is in full bloom.  Carol once it moved closer to the house.   It should be moved in the fall, but I always for get it.

I did some weeding.  Right now, I am not motivated to weed.  I went back to the house.  It was about four.  After sitting there for a short time, I decided that I just couldn't sit around.  There are a couple of things that Carol wanted me to do.  I went back out and did two of them.

I cut down the hardy pompus grass.  I was on my on my knees with pruners.

I cut the grass as close to the ground as I could.   It just fell any where that I could put it.  There was one large plant, a mid-size plant and then a small one.

I raked it up, and got a big bundle in my arms and carried to a compost pile.  It took about three trips to get it all moved.

We have a flower garden west of house five.  I cut away the dead Chrysanthemums, stems.  There is a tulip to the left in the picture and the Chrysanthemums, to the right are about one inch tall.

Was the Gasoline Spiked

I made an appointment with Jeff Christenson yesterday to meet me at Alisha's house at nine this morning.  He was there right on time.  We walked around the yard and talked about the things that needed to be done.  I was there about a half hour.  I was going to trim around the raised beds and also apply round-up in some of the beds and under the fence on the west and north sides.  He would mow every week and then every ten days and then every other week.  Jeff spoke to her mother and arranged for payment and explained how often.

I took this picture of the tomato plant in house two that is loaded with what I call Purple Cherry.  I had several plants last year and saved them for this year with rooted cuttings.

After I got back from Alisha's house, we drove to the cemetery to get the Chrysanthemums that decorated Sierras grave.  We planted them in the berm west of our driveway.  That turned out to be a large job.

The drip line had a hole which I think that I made cutting weeds with a shovel.  I cut a piece out but could not find a coupler to hook them back together.  I finally put in a Tee and added another drip line.  There is an emitter every twelve inches.  I put in a new pressure regulator.  When I turned the water on, the water began to spray out through a crack in the drip line.   I took it off and put another, but longer piece.  When I turned the water back on it worked perfectly.

I took a photo of the tree spade.  I want to put it up for sale on Deseret News Classified.

This afternoon I met Clair Harmon and again at Alisha's house.  He had his big tractor there and he pulled up three small Siberian Elm trees.  We loaded his truck with the branches.  I was there for a little over an hour.

Richard Darnel came over to help me start my tiller.  It was around one this  afternoon. He worked on it for over three hours.  He had to drive Fillmore for supplies to help clean the carburetor.

When if got back, he was still working.  He remove the gas tank, the carburetor and a bunch of other parts.  Then put it back together.  He removed the carburetor several times. There was something in the gas tank that had prevented the gas from getting to the carburetor  After giving it some thought, it looked like someone put sugar or something in the tank.

This quart bottle contains the gas that was drained out of the gas tank.  It also contains some of the gas used to rinse the tank.  The bottom fourth is the gook from the gas tank.  It is a darker tan.

I did a little tomato pruning.
