Hardy Pampas Grass

It was about ten this morning.  We drove to Fillmore to get some groceries.  We also needed hen scratch.  We stopped at Fillmore feed. I got the hen scratch and then one bunch of onion plants and five pounds of red potatoes.

I cut the potatoes into pieces.  Some large ones I cut into four pieces with two or more eyes on each piece. A couple small ones I cut in half.  They will set for a couple of days so each piece will scab.

Carol reminded me about cutting the hardy Pampas grass.  I went work on cutting it.  It is at the end of our driveway.  

I cut some of the tall stems and then I took the picture.  Some of the stems are nearly ten feet tall.

I picked up the praying mantis capsule and took a picture in house five.  It is about the size of a small finger. 

I found another praying mantis capsule and put in greenhouse five.  The new one is attached to the stem and there is an older one below the stem.

I tilled the part of the north garden and tilled most of the weeds.

I got a nice batch of asparagus. 

I put in a large mouth pint bottle and then put it in the fridge.

A strange cat is getting a free lunch on our back porch.  Somebody probably dropped it off.

Planted Blue Lake Bush Beans

I started trailing sprinkler on the front lawn east of the sidewalk.

Yesterday, I sprayed and dug up a lot of puncture weeds.  This morning I raked them up and found more that I missed yesterday.  I sprayed those that were growing in the rocks.  I got a digger and dug all of those up.  I put then in the above large nursery can and put them in the garbage can in the garage.  Later we took them to the dump.

I cut one broccoli, pulled some beats. and pulled a good bunch of carrots. The carrots are a good size.

 I cut down one big bunch of hardy Pampas grass, I was able to uncover some dahlias that were hiding under the huge leaves.

One of the large Pampas grass is gone.

I made several trips to house five for potting soil.  Finally I brought back screened potting soil.   It was powder dry.  I pored water on the six packs, and it just run off.  I dumped it on the patio and watered it.  Then I mixed it with the soil and watered more.  I let it set for a couple of hours.

I made depression in each cell with my finger.   I brought out the seeds earlier and in the hot sun they dried out.  I had to get new seeds.

I covered the seeds and put this wet piece of burlap on the tray.  I then watered it again.

Delivering Salvia pachyphylla

This morning after chores, watering, picking beans, cucumbers, and few other things.  The grapes that I started to dry six weeks ago were 90% dry.  I dumped them into two totes and took them to the house

 It was a littler after ten when we left.

A person in Salem ordered four con-tainers of Salvia pachyphylla.  I brought five.  I emailed him late last night to because the was not a shipping address listed.  There was an email from him this morning with the address of his work and directions to get there.  When we got close I called him and he gave me more precise directions.  We missed the turn to his work.  I called him again and we met him near the shipping area.  He got in our car and he directed to where his truck was parked.

We stopped at Sam's Club where we bought a lot of non-edible stuff and a little edible stuff.  Next stop was at the Church Distribution center.  The we bought two copies of the DVD "Infinite Gift".  We had a little discussion on a place for lunch.  I want to eat at a place where we have never eaten before.  Carol prefers a place where we know something about the food.  We ended up at the "Great China Café" on the south end of State street in Orem.  Food was pretty good.

One purpose of going up was to stop at Nyleen and Miles home to get information on brain enhancement supplements.  I got the information and from miles computer I emailed the to me.  On the way home we stopped at Costco to get gas.  I took the following picture while we were stopped at a red light.  I clicked it as the light changed green and got a better picture than I thought I would get.

This is Hardy Pampas grass.  To the right of it is Russian Sage.  This was such a good example of the grass in the landscape, I had to take a picture.

I have wanted to visit with my sister Karla and her husband Jim, in Santaquin.  He does wood working and I also enjoy it.  I wanted to see some of the project he is working on.  Jim and Karla were not home.  That is the third time that we have stopped there and no one is home. 

We had to stop at the Red Barn in Santaquin.  Carol got her a root beer shake and I got a peach shake.  It tasted pretty good, but the peach that they used was not ripe and didn't blend in.  The peach was in hard chunks.
