Merry Christmas

I was up early as usual.  I composed a Christmas message on Face Book which took most of my morning time.  Richard spent the night with us.  We prepared breakfast of toast, bacon, fried eggs, and juice.

After breakfast and all the dishes were cleaned up.

It was hard to get a good picture because of my shaking hands.  I didn't want to pose any one.  I took several of carol and this was the best one even it is a little fuzzy.  When there is a lot of light, I get better photos.

Richard went outside.  I thought he was driving up the canyons looking for deer.  Instead he was out shoveling snow of the sidewalk and driveway.

The dish was covered with snow this morning.  Richard and I went out to clean off the snow.   I used a broom with a long handle.  I removed the snow.

I showed Richard the shed and wondering how the shed looked after a snowstorm.

Richard drove up Maple Canyon.   He turned around where the snow was up to his knees.

Children that called:  Melissa two times, Lisa, Eric, and Elizabeth,  Robert didn't call; he is coming tomorrow.  Richard didn't call because he was already here.  About five Richard decided to go home.

Christmas Cards 2016

Several weeks ago when Carol and I were up north; that is basically in Utah County, we bought some nice Christmas cards.  I made address labels of friends and family whom we mail cards to.  I have a box of labels 100 sheets with 33 labels on each sheet.  I bought them several years ago to mail catalogs to our nursery customers.  I don't do that any more. 

I found the label file on my computer and made an attempt to print the labels.  There was one problem.  In the box of labels was a different style and they did not fit the labels from the computer.  I spent four hours or so to two or three different days.  I could not get them to fit.  I decided to use the spread sheet and make my own label template.  I spent a lot of time on that and printed on recycled paper and it would not fit.  Recycled paper is a sheet with one side which is blank.  I filled a trash can with these.

I went back to the last years list and got out a new sheet of label paper.  It was a different style and fit perfectly.  La La, I made a sheet of labels in seconds.  I gave them to Carol and she began to stuff the envelops.  Carol wrote a Christmas greeting that she wanted to put in the card.  There were eight on each sheet.  I used card stock.  The four sheets produced 32 cards.

Our furnace has not been working properly for the last couple of weeks.  At nigh I set it at 62 degrees.  When I get up in the morning the temperature is in the 50's.  I have to turn it up 110 before the furnace kicks on.  I then turn it back to 70.  Most of the time it turns off at 65.  I then adjust it again to keep the house warm.  I called Andrew Brown several times and finally got a hold of him last night.  He came this morning and determined that the thermostat was malfunction.   He put on a knew  one and now it is working perfectly.  The new one will not turn on the A/C. but we don't kneed that until May or June.  He will be here Friday morning with the right thermostat.

Christmas 2015

It is not often that I wake up on Christmas morning and there is a ton on new snow.  I can remember of only two other mornings of Christmas snow.  There have been a bunch of times that there has been snow on the ground, but it has been old snow.  Following are pictures taken from the front door looking north.

My light alarm came on this morning at 5:22 which is earlier than what I want to get up.  I laid in bed about twenty minutes more.  After showing and getting dressed which was 6:00.  I then made a mine adjustment.  We will see how it works out in the morning.

We opened our presents.  I gave Carol a mixer.  She gave a temple robe.  We got some nice gifts from our children.  All but Robert called us during the day.  Robert and some of his family are coming tomorrow.

I did some vinegar soaking in the toilet bowel and a hard water spot in the tub.  This evening I removed the soaked paper towels in the toilet and tub. The toilet looks almost new.  The hard water test in the tub was also successful.

We had breakfast and finished up on the loaf of home made bread that we got from AnnaRae.  That is all that I had for breakfast except candy and nuts.  We were gifted with candy and jams and cookies and other good stuff.

Laying in bed this morning and idea on snow plowing came to me.  It is I would hook on to and old tire rim with a chain and drag it through the snow from the house to the greenhouses.  I picked up a light weight chain, wrapped it around the rim, and tied it back on the chain.  It looked like a good idea, the snow was a little to deep for it to work the way that I imaged that it would work.  The snow was nearly eight inches deep. 

I started dragging the rim from house one and ended up at our house.  I then went back a little ways and went to the back of house five.  Then to house two,  I turned to the south and dragged it past four, five and into house six.  traced back toward house three and then left it house one.  Kind of boreing.  I had to stop and rest quite a few times.

I started up the tractor and cleaned our driveway.  After lunch did the Masner's parking area in front of their house.  They were gone so it was much easier to do.  I went to Venez's house, but it was already done.  On the way home cleared the following:  Adamson's, Stephenson's, and Mary Miller.  It took quite awhile to get their cleared.  A man that sometimes stays there wanted me to clean in front of the big truck.  He offered me money and I rejected is offer numerous times and did it any way.
