Snow

I was up early, showered, and read  Ether 8 from read the Book of Mormon.  Carol got up and told me that it had snowed.  Looking out it had snowed a lot.  Nine inches on the lawn.

The red bud tree is draped with the fluffy white snow.
Towards the green houses.  You can barely see the brown gabled end of house four at the right.
The bows and pipes are covered with snow.  It is a greenhouse skeleton.
A wheelbarrow is covered with snow between house three and house two.   The heat in house two is melting the show.
The poly has pulled apart along the ridge of house three.  Below the tare there is about six inches of snow.
I took this picture from the north door of house three.

I got four ears of corn out of the fridge in the garage.  I husked them and then boiled them for ten minutes.  One was two young.  I gave it to the chickens.  The big one on the right was from a different planting than the other three.  The taste was nearly like new corn.
The before photo.  I opened the garage door and got this picture.  Looking north down the driveway to the house a cross the road.
The after photo.

I worked several hours pushing and shoveling off the snow to make a path wide enough for the car.  I went to the post office.  If I drive through the snow, the underside of the fenders get packed with snow.  When I park the car, it all melts off and water runs all over the garage.

Pipe Clamps and Slider

A few snow flakes this morning when I got up.  After breakfast there was about an inch of snow.  I used the blower and blew it off as far as the cord would reach.  Which was about five feet from the asphalt.  I used the scoop shovel to get the rest of it.  I then did the front side walk.  It had snowed some more and after lunch I tried to blow, but the snow was to wet.  The sun was shining some.  I used the wide push broom for the rest of it. What I didn't get off with the broom was melted by the sun.
Cleaned the patio.
The bird seed was nearly gone.  One of the tube was plugged by the large sunflower seed.  I dumped it on the patio, which was closer to the house so we might watch the birds feed.
I filled the bird feeder and hung it back in the tree.
Another big cleaning job.  The card table, that we got soon after we were married, was covered with dust and things that I haven't touched for years.  I moved some and threw some away.  The table is folded and leaning against some of the lumber.
The wood vice hasn't been working properly.  It would not open wide enough to hold a 3/4 inch pipe.  I took it off and fixed a few things and then put it back together.  It opens and close now, but the quick open lever doesn't work.  That is a project for an other day.
The pipe clamps were standing upright in an unorganized was in a large nursery pot.  I took all of them out and lined them on the floor.  One was beyond repair which I discarded and another one that I was able to fix.  There are nine.
The tool I built a couple of days ago to safely rip narrow pieces of wood had a few flaws.  I am building a new one which removes the flaws.  It is clamped together in the photo below.  I had it clamped for a couple of hours and would have completed it today.  The clue was not set up.  I did it again and leave it clamped over night.

Christmas 2015

It is not often that I wake up on Christmas morning and there is a ton on new snow.  I can remember of only two other mornings of Christmas snow.  There have been a bunch of times that there has been snow on the ground, but it has been old snow.  Following are pictures taken from the front door looking north.
 Looking to the northwest
Looking to the northeast
Looking straight north
My light alarm came on this morning at 5:22 which is earlier than what I want to get up.  I laid in bed about twenty minutes more.  After showing and getting dressed which was 6:00.  I then made a mine adjustment.  We will see how it works out in the morning.

We opened our presents.  I gave Carol a mixer.  She gave a temple robe.  We got some nice gifts from our children.  All but Robert called us during the day.  Robert and some of his family are coming tomorrow.

I did some vinegar soaking in the toilet bowel and a hard water spot in the tub.  This evening I removed the soaked paper towels in the toilet and tub. The toilet looks almost new.  The hard water test in the tub was also successful.

We had breakfast and finished up on the loaf of home made bread that we got from AnnaRae.  That is all that I had for breakfast except candy and nuts.  We were gifted with candy and jams and cookies and other good stuff.

Laying in bed this morning and idea on snow plowing came to me.  It is I would hook on to and old tire rim with a chain and drag it through the snow from the house to the greenhouses.  I picked up a light weight chain, wrapped it around the rim, and tied it back on the chain.  It looked like a good idea, the snow was a little to deep for it to work the way that I imaged that it would work.  The snow was nearly eight inches deep.

I started dragging the rim from house one and ended up at our house.  I then went back a little ways and went to the back of house five.  Then to house two,  I turned to the south and dragged it past four, five and into house six.  traced back toward house three and then left it house one.  Kind of boreing.  I had to stop and rest quite a few times.

I started up the tractor and cleaned our driveway.  After lunch did the Masner's parking area in front of their house.  They were gone so it was much easier to do.  I went to Venez's house, but it was already done.  On the way home cleared the following:  Adamson's, Stephenson's, and Mary Miller.  It took quite awhile to get their cleared.  A man that sometimes stays there wanted me to clean in front of the big truck.  He offered me money and I rejected is offer numerous times and did it any way.
