Digging One of Two Raspberry Plants.

First thing after breakfast was a quick trip to Fillmore.  I made a house payment.  About eleven more to go and our mortgage will be paid.

I stopped at Roper's to get some parts for our irrigation.  We got some yesterday, but I got the wrong part and glued it together before I discovered my mistake.  There three pieces on the left which are white and the gray nipple on the right.

I built the cage system for one tomato plant.

I am ready for the water.  I can adjust the volume of the water with this gate valve.

I moved the tiller in a spot in the garden where it would be in the way of the water tomorrow.

I cut a whole bunch of rhubarb.  Carol cooked it and I took some to Elisha

I mowed the weeds at the far south garden.

I cleaned the ditch.

This is where the water begins its trip through the pipes and ends up on the lawn and in the garden.

There os a culvert in our ditch.  I cleaned it out for the water.

Our neighbor, Wade Lemon got some golden current bushes.    Tjere are still several left.

Wade Lemon loaded five golden currents and one smal choke cherry tree into his truck.

I put my raspberry bush in the hole.

Covered it up with soil and turned on the water.

I put some shade over it to protect it from the sun.

May the Fourth Be With You

The first thing I did this morning was to mow the lawn.  The mower gas tank was nearly empty.  I looked all over for my red gas can several times.  Carol suggested that I call Shane.  I did and it was in the shed.  There was a combination lock on the door of the shed.  He told me then combination and I tried three or four times, but it would not unlock.  I pushed the lock in and pulled on it.  I was able to open the door.  I mowed the lawn.  It was really tall and now looks good.

I dumped the grass catcher about four time. I nearly plugged up the chute the first time, but after that it went well.

I dumped the grass on the long composting pile that I started two years ago.

A Few Sunday Photoes

Last night I turned on the fan which is in the window front room.  This morning the house temperature was 65 degrees.  By evening it warmed up to 71 degrees.

 The first Sunday of most months is fast Sunday, which is today.  We didn't have breakfast and a little before nine we started our sacrament service.  We then watched the church video of Ammon and the kings sheep that he saved.  Very good.   After that we watch a video about Alma.

The rest of the morning we listen to The Sound of Music on the radio.  I watched a few videos on You Tube.   We had our Sunday dinner a little after twelve.

I took a few photos of the progress of cucumbers, watermelon, melons, and tomato plants.

 These are four different varieties on cumbers.  Most favorite is the burpless Cucumber.

Detroit red beats that need to be transplanted.  Don't know where to plant them at this point.

Tomato plants.  Celebrity and Roma ate two of the varieties on this tray.  One I am looking forward to is Yellow Cherry.  I saved only a few seeds from that plant last fall.  It surprised me that they even germinated.

Ground Prep.

I watched the three woodworking this morning.  They were interesting.  One had a couple of complicated projects.

Carol finished her 2000 piece puzzle last night.  She took it down which gave us room for our meals.

The hemp plants in house four have been harvested.  All that is left are empty pots.

The fern leaf peony is blooming now.  The blooms don't last long.

I got the two dracaenas in house six and took them to the driveway.  The one on the right is reposted  The pomegranate bush is doing well in it new location.  We haven't lost any fruit.

I harvested a whole bunch of rhubarb and we gave it to Ann Stephenson.  I forgot to take a picture of the stems.

I did a lot of weeding this afternoon getting ready for more planting.  I also watered everything.  The hot weather is causing them to dry out much faster.  Some have not many roots in the native soil.

May Day, What?

Every Friday we have been going to Fillmore Market in Fillmore.  We buy groceries to last a week and somethings may last for two weeks.  We get there as soon as it opens at eight when there is not many shoppers.  Today was no different.  When we got home I finished my reading of the Book of Mormon.

The Topaz melons are coming along nicely.  When I looked at them tonight they are still doing well.

I filled the sprayer up with this Round-up type and sprayed more weeds in the area of the grape plants.

 I was spraying in back of the shed and sprayed this Elder Berry plants.  I didn't see it until I sprayed it.  I hurried to the patio and remove the back-pack sprayer.  I got my green watering can and washed off the weed killer.  I then hoed up all of the weeds.

This is one of the older back-pack sprayer that I have.  I put some water in it to see if it would work.  I did get it to sprays some, but it was hard to pump and a very little spray of water come from the nasal.  I watched some You Tube videos to see if I could repair it.  There wasn't anything.  I put it in the truck to take it to the dump.

I found the tub of Gambel Oak trees.  They were leafing out.  I thought that they had died.  I could have transplanted them into individual pots if I found them they leafed out.

The other melons are germinating.

 The Crook-neck squash haven't germinate yet.

I drove in this pipe several years ago to hold up an elder-berry shrub.  It died.  I dug around the pipe and let some water run in the hole.  I was able to push it back and forth and I pulled it up.

This is a bag of rabbit pellets.  I heard of read the alfalfa pellets made good fertilize.  I tried it out.  Will have to wait till mid summer to see if it works.

I dug holes for three Big Beef tomato plants.  I put two handfuls of pellets in each hole.

The wire basket is covered with a piece of burlap.  They were prepared last year.  I went looking for baskets and found these.

I found a hose that I don't think I have used for ears.  It was dirty and part of the hose was buried in some dirt.  I pulled it out and straightened it out.  The gasket was missing on the female end.  I found one in the garage.  It was hard to put in like most of them are.  I was able to get it in and started screw it to the facet;  I had to get a pair of plyers to screw it on tight.  I turned on the water to clean out the hose.

I let the water run for over an hour on the peonies.
