Shut off Water

I read from the Book of Mormon and posted a quote with comment to Face Book.  I prepared breakfast.  Later I started to water the lawns.

There were a lot of leaves on the east lawn.  I thought about raking, but on second thought I got the lawnmower. I put the blade in the three-inch position.  Then mowed up the leaves and dumped them on the large pile of leaves to be composted.
I stared to cover the chicken tunnel with Styrofoam.  I made it three panels thick.  I hung bricks from one side to the other.  There were two sets of brick held together with twine.
This show the three panels of Styrofoam.
I put five layers of of Styrofoam on top.
I made device to hold the lid on tight. I didn't want a skunk to be able to lift it up.
Carol made a batch of zucchini bread.  It smelled so good. It also tasted good.  I turned off the electricity to the well.  I walked all over the yard opening every water valve.  That drained all of the pipes that went through our yard.
I had the turn on the valve at the well to drain the water out of this pipe.  I could not turn it on. I decided to undo the union.  It wouldn't budge.  I got a pipe and slid it over the handle of the pipe wrench. I still would not budge.  I gave up.
There are a lot of dead weeds in the south-east corner of our yard.  I cut the weeds with my weed eater and made a path that went to the well.  I also made a path that went to the pile of reused potting soil.

Timpanogos Temple

Up early this morning.  Like 5:15. I started a new batch of old fashion oat mush.  The fed the cats.  I prepared breakfast. Loaded our temple clothes.  After breakfast we left Holden for Lindon, Utah.  We picked up Miles and Nyleen Batty and drove to the Timpanogos temple.  We had a good session then back to the Batty home.  Nyleen served us pumpkin pie and gave us a bag of cookies.

Potatoes Dug

I woke up several times during the night to go to the bathroom.  The last time I woke up was 5:00.  I began thinking about draining all of the water pipes.  I couldn't go back to sleep.  I got up at 5:15, showered and shaved.  I read the next chapter in the Book of Mormon.  I posted it on Face Book.  I watched a couple of church videos on You Tube about the same chapters that I read in the Book of Mormon.  I fed the cats and then prepared breakfast.  We watched the morning news.

I watered the potato plants yesterday.  This morning I dug the potatoes.  I was much easier to dig because the ground was soft.  I put the first variety/row in the above bucket.

The next row had a different variety.  They were quite red.  They were in a different bucket.  There were some large potatoes, But most were smaller.

I picked this Topaz melon yesterday and filled this bowl with cold ripe melon pieces;
There were some wild sunflowers growing in the dry garden north of the house next to the road.  I found my loppers and cut them down.  The loppers were in the truck.  I put the sunflowers on the large compost pile.
I put the patio furniture cushions under the house in the crawl space.  There were five large nursery cans of old flower roots.  They were in the way.  I don't remember the name of the plants.  They were planted in the year that we moved here and dug up to be planted the following year.  They didn't get planted.  I dumped them in the garden.
These cushions are on a clean piece of sheet metal.
There was five of the large nursery cans that contained them.
There was a large nursery can full of black walnuts.  I scattered them south of the raspberries.
I washed some of the potatoes for the kitchen.  That is about it for the rest of the day.

Monday

No photos today.  I slept in again.  The house temperature when I got up was sixty-eight degrees.  I prepared our usual breakfast.  I read another chapter from the Book of Mormon.  I picked up the mail.  I put more chicken pellets in the feeder.

It was nearly one when we drove to Fillmore.  We stopped at Steve's Tires to have the air pressure in our tires adjusted for the winter.   We then bought a few groceries at the Fillmore market.

I had ample time to take pictures which make my comments easier to understand.

Sabath Day

There was choir practice this morning at nine.  After breakfast I made tapioca pudding.  I forgot to put in the tapioca so I had to put it in and then back-up some.  I put on my suit and went to choir practice.  I left choir practice a little early and came back and got Carol.

Sacrament meeting went well.  We went to the Sunday school class that was held in the relief society room.  It was a lot better than the one held in the chapel.  We came home to a good Sunday dinner.
I took a picture of the green arrow pea blossom.  There probably isn't time for peas as it will soon be winter.
There are a lot of peas vines in this raised bed.
I picked the Topaz melon and put it in the garage fridge.  It probably is the last one this year.  This afternoon we watched the channel eleven programing.
This evening, I picked tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers because it might freeze tonight.
Carol wanted me to pick the tomatoes.  I nearly filled this bucket.

Milkweed Plants Gone

I slept in some this morning but still was able to read the next chapter in the Book of Mormon.  I prepared breakfast while Carol was showering and doing her hair.  After breakfast I watched two of my woodworking shows.

We took the house garbage to the dumpster, which consisted of a large bag, a small bag, and a couple of empty cat food bags.

There are three colorful beautiful maple trees on main street.
I cut down all of the milkweed plants growing in the dahlias and west of the dahlias.  I piled them on the compost pile.
I cut three large dahlia flowers put them in a vase.  It is sitting on the kitchen counter.
There is a new landscape in the north end of town.  This is the north side of the landscape.
This is the south side of the landscape.  We noticed this as we went for an evening drive around town.  I started water running on the east lawn this and west of the driveway today.
