Fixing break House Two

After breakfast we drove to Fillmore to get a prescription filled at the drug store.  We got gas at the Mavrick gas station. We then bought a few groceries at the Fillmore Market.  We then stopped at the drug store.  I saw a friend at his shop north of the drug store.  I walked over to his store and Carol went into the drug store.  He showed me around his small store.  I then walked into the drug store. Carol was paying for her prescription.  There were two small sacks.  I picked up both of them.  We then got in the car and drove home.  We stopped at the post office.  There wasn't any mail.  I friend was there.  He got his mail and got on his four-wheeler. It wouldn't start.  Me and another man pushed his four-wheeler, and it started up. Carol noticed that one of the drugstore bags wasn't hers.  We drove back to the Service drugstore and returned the other prescription.  We then went home.  After lunch I went out to house two and shut off the water.

I turned the water back on.  I put plastic wrap one the bottom of the fertilizer injector and the screwed on the ring on the injector to hold it on.  I didn't work.  The water leaked out.  Tomorrow, I plan on  cuting off the injector.
I use a large pipe wrench and still could not remove the coupler.  The only solution is to cut off the injector and put a piece of PVC pipe in its place.

I watered all of the plants in the garage.  I put the wooden pumpkins away in the garage.

Extreme Power Outage

Not sure if this is last night or this morning.   Probably both.  I was in bed and Carol was calling me.  There was not a bit of light in my bedroom.  I was feeling my way to the family room.  There is an emergency light by the door to the bathroom.  It didn't work.  There is an emergency light by the kitchen.  Carol turned it on.  That gave enough light to see several rooms.  I got a large flashlight and gave it to Carol.  I remembered that there was an emergency light by the front door. I got that one. Carol went back to bed, and I did the same.  I put the flashlight on my nightstand.  I went back to bed.  The power came on for a second and then went off again. That happened several times during the night. I got up about five and took one of my pills.

I didn't have choir practice this morning.  Also, it is fast Sunday, so we didn't have breakfast.  Carol made a Jello salad and put potatoes and a sweet potato in the oven.  I set the timer to shut off the oven at 12:15. That is the time that we will get home from church.

After dinner, I went out to the greenhouses.

The fertilizer injector broke off and was lying on the ground.  It is the blue object to the right of the picture.  We got one chicken egg.

We met with the bishop to declare our tithing.  It is quite cold outside, but it is not freezing, the forecast is above freezing.

Stored Dahlias

I was up at 5:15 this morning and took my antibiotic pill.  I then went back to bed. I got up later, showered, and shaved. After breakfast, I watched two channel seven woodworking shows.  After the show, I started to put the dahlia tubers in storage for the winter, I got two nursery cans. I put the tubers in one large nursery.  The tubers were stacked on top of each other.

I put five or six in this can and covered them with recycled potting soil. I had to shake them to make sure that the soil cover all of the roots.
I used soil in root control bags.  They are pictured in the above photo.
The two smaller nursery tubs contain most of the dahlia tubers.  The smaller nursery can contain the tubers of a purple dahlia.  It was so pretty that I hope to divide for next year.
Lunch was left over spaghetti from yesterday covered with shredded cheese. I cut the spaghetti into smaller pieces; I was able to eat it without my teeth.
I placed some newspapers to catch any dripping oil

Tonight, I drove to Fillmore and bought two Mexican dinners.  I had to wait quite a while, while the cooks were getting them ready.  Carol and I had supper when we got home.

Cold Morning

I was up early, showered, and read the next chapter in the Book of Mormon.  I read the morning news on my computer.  It was a cold morning.  There was ice on the cat's watering dish.  I fed the cats and prepared breakfast.  I updated yesterday's blog which took quite a while.  I then went to the post office for the mail.  There wasn't any.  When I got home, I looked at all of the greenhouses where there was some water running.  Running water keeps the pipes from freezing.  I watched two TV shows.  Carol cooked spaghetti using the spaghetti sauce she bottled this fall.  I fed the cats at four.  There were so many cats that there was hardly spot to stand.

The above photo shows a bunch of big cats.

The phone was hot this afternoon.  We talked to Lisa, Robert, Larry, and Elizabeth.  Elizabeth was helping to watch the BYU football game that starts tomorrow at five.  I think that I was on the phone with her for over an hour.

Snow/Dentist

Woke up early this morning, took my pill and then went back to bed.  I couldn't go to sleep.  After a while I got up.  I showered, shaved, and read another chapter in the Book of Mormon.  There was a couple of inches of snow on the garage.  The TV was not working.  After I fed the cats, I got a flashlight and with a long-handled broom, I scraped the snow off the dish.  The TV still didn't work.  We had breakfast.

After breakfast I went outside to get some pictures.  I opened the garage door for the above photo.  The driveway is wet and the heavy snow has bent the branches of the dawn redwood tree to the ground.  I used a short pole to knock the snow off the branches.
Here is a photo of the red bud tree covered with snow.
I had two buckets of potatoes.  There are two different varieties.  Both were packed with mud when I dug them.  The mud had dried.  I scraped off the dirt.  I put the first bucket in the sink and then run water filled the bucket half full.  I washed and scrubbed off the dirt. I then rinsed them and put them back in the bucket.  I did the same thing for the with the other bucket.
I went to my three o'clock dental appointment.  The dental assistant had me get into the chair.  This is when I took the above picture looking out the window at the snow.
This was the time when I was sitting in the dentist chair.
I think that they worked on my mouth for over and hour.  The needed to drill into my jawbone.  They put a template on my bottom jaw that insure that the holes were in the fight place.
I picked this green topaz melon before the first hard frost.  I left it in the garage for over a month.  I cleaned out the seeds.

I then removed the melon flesh.  For an old melon, it really tasted good.  I took two Tylenol tablets just before I went to bed.

Raking Leaves

Skipping the regular things this morning. After breakfast I checked out the greenhouses.  Everything is good.  The chickens are good, and their drinking water is running.  I was going to mow up the leaves, but decided to rake them.  I raked half of them and put them on a plastic tarp. I then put them on the south garden.  I then went back to the house and watched two TV programs.  For lunch I had a can of soup.

Timpanogos Temple

No sleeping in this morning.  Got up showered shaved, dressed in my work clothes, and read another chapter from the Book of Mormon.  After breakfast we got ready for the temple.  It was about nine when we left Holden for the Timpanogos temple.

We waited for a few minutes for a car to pull out of a handicapped parking spot.  We had a good experience at the temple.  We stopped on the way home at the Payson Walmart where I bought five quarts of motor oil. Carol waited in the car for me.  We usually we stop at the Payson Wendy's.  We did the same today.  We then drove straight home while eating our snacks. We picked up the mail at the post office.  It was nearly three.  My phone rang while I was still in the car. It was a call from the dentil office.  She sent a prescription to the drug store. We drove to Fillmore and got a few groceries and then stopped at the drug store. Our prescription was not ready.  We waited awhile for the prescription.  We got a couple of ice cream cones at Cluff's.
