We worked all morning making veggie juice.  We were so busy that I forgot to take pictures.  But inside pictures with my smart phone don't do to well.  I can't hold my phone still long enough the get a good picture.

I made it out to the garden.  There were a lot of deer tracks.    This shows some between the north and south garden.
I took off most of the plums which were prunes a couple of days ago.  I got one quart this morning and another quart this afternoon.

We start making our veggie juice before breakfast.  We juice all of the tomatoes and the other vegetable which take most of our working time.  It is all put in a big kettle and cooked until it begins to boil.  We let it boil for about thirty minutes.  while it is cooking we have breakfast.   After it is all cooked well we strain all of the solid parts.  Carol then puts into quart bottles.  We got ten quarts.  I thought that we would get a few more.  It is now in the pantry.

After lunch, I worked in the garage on the radial arm saw.  Still trying to build a base or platform for it.  I did make some pretty good progress.

I drove to Fillmore for a piece OSB board.  They didn't have any.

More Veggie Juice

As soon as breakfast was over, I went out to the garden to see if the was and evidence of the deer.  There were tracks in the south garden, but no new tracks in the north garden.  I forgot to turn on the north garden water.

The rest of the morning we made more veggie juice.  We ended up with ten quarts and one pint.

I picked some cucumbers and put them in the fridge.  The cucumbers that I picked yesterday were taken to the post office.  I also took three heads of cabbage to the post office.

I moved the South Yard Enforcer to the east side of the garden.  It is pointed to the west and make a sweep of about 175 degree.  Any deer in that area would start the sprinkler.
Yesterday day, I cut away some of the sumac that was covering some old wood.  This afternoon, I cut more sumac which uncovered all of the old wood.  When I get more time I will make more items in the garage.
I took all of the cuttings to the road.  I am getting quite a pile there.

Watering, Canning, and Harvest Dinner at the Church

The first thing this morning was preparing the tomatoes for veggie juice.  Carol prepared them and I mashed and shredded them.  We then had breakfast while they were cooking.  We cooked them for nearly and hour.  We then put them in the colander which removed the seeds and skins.  By 10:30 we had fifteen quarts of juice. We also filled one quart bottle with a large type of cherry tomato.
Our zucchini was killed by squash bugs.  In its place I planted some crookneck summer squash which was planted in several locations.
The rest of the pictures are from the ward harvest dinner.

More Veggie Juice

We did veggie juice this morning.  We had a tote of our own tomatoes.  I picked three more buckets.  We had a quick breakfast.  Carol washed and removed the bad parts of the tomatoes.  I kept the mashed until we had two large kettles of mashed tomatoes on the stove.  I also shredded the peppers, and onions.  I picked the parsley in our front yard.  We ended up with 16 quarts.
This old ladder belonged to Carol's mother.  It is very unstable.  We could use it if it leaned against a wall.  I glued and screwed a piece of plywood to the back legs.  I did a couple of other reinforcing procedures.  Testing it out I can stand part way up the ladder safely.
For lunch I sliced the baked potatoes left over from Sunday.  I sprayed a cookie tray with pam, put the slice potatoes on the pan, and broiled it on high for ten minutes.    We had meat loaf Sunday and put a large slice of that on the plate.  I sliced a couple of tomatoes.  It was really good.
We drove to Fillmore where I made a couple of deposits at Zion's bank.  I filled my prescription which didn't take long.  We got a few groceries and ice cream cones.  They lasted all the way home.

I pruned some of Robert's tomatoes in house six.  Tied up some of the pumpkin and summer squash.
