Odds and Ins

I was about nine this morning when we drove to Fillmore.  We stopped at the post office to get our mail.  We got a few groceries.  We got a coloring book at the Dollar store.  We went to the flower shop for some nice towels, At Ropers I got valves for my wand and potting soil.  When we got home I got some boxes and containers for gifts at the post office.  I made several trips to the post office before I got the right size of boxes.  We got them all boxed up and labels put on the boxes.  We will take them to the post office tomorrow.

In needed potting soil for the geraniums' that I wanted to plant this afternoon.

The black object attached to the red handled wand allows me to turn the tap on and then turn on the wand.  It makes it a lot easier to water my plants 

I spent the rest of the morning hauling grow bags out to the pile and dumping them.  I carried the first bag out.  I was pretty easy.  After that I would put to bags in the wheelbarrow and push them up a slight incline and then dump them.  I did that until it was nearly time for lunch.

I am getting a pretty good pile out there now.

I got some trays and 1206 inserts.

After lunch when Carol went to her DUP meeting and put the 1206 inserts into the web trays.  It took quite a long time remove a sheet and put in the tray.  I put a couple of bricks on top to keep any cats that might spend the night in house five and tip them over.

I had a little lunch when Carol got back.  This evening we had visitors from our assigned ministers.

Sunday Meetings

Last night our TV reception was terrible.  The first thing after showering and prayers I turned on the TV to see how reception was.  It was bad again. 

Choir practice was at nine.  Carol took me.  I was a little early.  I couldn't sing because my dentures would come loose.  I took them out and put them in my pocket.  It was then much easier for me to sing.

Sacrament meeting and priesthood meetings were good.  I was about five minutes getting out of the priesthood meeting.  I had to put microphones and some other things away.  Carol was waiting for me in the car.  We forgot to put the casserole in the oven.  as soon as we got home Carol turned on the oven.   We had to wait for seventy-five minutes to eat.

A little after four I walked out to house five.  I turned on the fan.  The photo above is of the thermometer which shows the current temperature, the high temperature, and the low temperature.

We forgot tithing settlement with Bishop Turner.  Carol remembered.  We drove back to the church and were on time.

Mailed Cards

Typical Saturday morning.  Finished breakfast and watched morning TV shows.  They were reruns.  I made a list of those that we are sending Christmas cards to.   There were about forty names on the list.  I mailed them this morning.  I went out to house five.  The furnace was running.  I went back to the house.  The last couple of days, I have been throwing away old catalogs and magazines that I have no use for.  There were old invoices that I shredded.  The shredder container is full.  There is a chair in my bedroom that has been covered with all kinds of junk.  I got rid of most of it and stored it away in my closet.  I can sit on it and contemplate problems of the world.

The temperature this afternoon was 70 degrees.  The low temp was 34 and the high was 75 degrees.  It was a comfortable temperature.

I planted three leaf vegetables.  I made some labels a couple of days ago with a sticker on one side and printed on the other side.  I covered the seeds with potting soil, and watered them well.

It got really cold last night.  I leave the water running all of the time now.  The photo above is at the east end of house six.  A lot of ice.  The TV worked most of the day, but quit this afternoon got working again and it looks like there is some snow on the dish.

Snow

I got up and looked out the front door.  It is still pretty dark, but with the street lights, I could see that the street had been plowed.  The TV worked.  

I opened the large garage door and got this picture.  I walked around the back yard and took some pictures.  Whoever cleaned the drive way took a snow shovel that was leaning against the garage and did the front walk.

This photo is a little east of the shed looking to the east.  The nursery cans are covered with snow.  There were deer tracks large and small all over our yard, and in the garden.

Carol wanted to get Christmas cards ready to mail in the morning.  I had to print labels of those who were to receive them.  I had a page of addresses with thirty addresses on each page.  There were some who had moved and needed to be replaced with a new address.  I lost one of the files, which required me to make a new page.  That took a long time.  I also, lost the page of return addresses.  I tried and tried to find it with no success.  Made another computer search and found a new list.  I printed it and it was perfect.  This took me most of the morning and most of the afternoon.  During this time the snow on the dish melted a little.  I had to clean it off to get good reception again.

Fixed Printer

 

It was raining some when I got up.  I showered, and read another chapter from the scriptures.    I usually have a fried egg on toast, but the bread shrinks some in the toaster.  This morning I had a fried egg on bread instead of toast.  Soon after the first hour of news was over, we drove to Fillmore.  It was raining so we took the frontage road east of the freeway.  The freeway was really wet and the passing big trucks splashed water over the windshield, making it hard to see.  We went to the Fillmore Market for a few groceries.  Then we went to Steuart Electric for some ink for my HP printer.  The I took out the two old cartridges and easily put in the two new ones.  Carol got her prescription filled at the Service Drug Store and bought two boxes of chocolates.  We filled the car with gas.  There were only a couple of cars getting gas.  We drove to the Bishop's Storehouse for home storage items.  It was closed.  The posted sign said it would be open three to seven every Tuesday and Wednesday.

I put in the ink and after a few times trying to print from my laptop, I was successful.   I worked on this project most of the morning The next job was to print from the desk top computer in my bedroom.  Every time I tried there was a message that said, "not connected."  After several tries another message said to enter a key number found in printer.  There were two.  The first on which was shorter didn't work.  The second number worked.  After a few more tries, I was able to print.  I wanted to print the addresses of those that we sent Christmas card to last year.  There were two pages.  Finally, I was able to print on the label paper.  Tomorrow, we will add addresses and change those that have been changed, and remove some who have passed on.

It was raining and snowing outside so I shredded a lot of papers around the lap top computer.  There were a whole bunch of magazines and seed catalogs that were old.  I threw them away.  I have and Epson printer that I bought a couple of years ago that cost about $60.00.  It never worked.  I bought new ink and that didn't fix it.  After speaking with Dan Speakman at Stuart Electric, I decided to throw it away.  The picture above shows the empty space where it used to sit.

This evening the snow covered the dish that is on the house.  I went out three or four times to clean it off.  Now our TV reception is good again.  It has been good to have the rain and snow.

Trip to Utah County

 No photos today.  I took two late this evening, but it was too dark for my shaky hand.  They were blurry.  We had our usual breakfast.  We left around 8:30.   Our first stop was the Payson Wal Mart.  We got a lot of presents for our children and grandchildren.

We then went to Home Depot and bought a few more gifts and supplies for the house.  We then drove to the church distribution center in Orem for a few other gifts.  It was closed for remodeling.  We then drove back to Payson for Costco.  We got a few things there.  We stopped at Wendys in Payson we bought two small hamburgers, fries and a diet coke.  We ate them on the way home.  

I unloaded the car and fed the cats.  It about four.  I moved root control bags until it was news time.  This is where I took two fuzzy pictures.

Leaking Tap

I walked out to house five to see if the furnace had come on.  I couldn't tell.  The lowest temperature for the night was 37 degrees.  I checked several other times and the temps got warmer.  

There are a lot of root control bags.  I moved three of them over to my growing area.  The photo above shows the three bags for the radishes and two different basil seed.  I really soaked them well.

This tomato plant was growing right on the edge of the root control bag.  I dug it up and replanted in the center of the bag.  I didn't get much soil with the roots.  I watered it well several times during the day.  I had trouble tuning the water on and off.  The facet was damaged so that it would shut all the way off.  I looked all over for valve to put in front of the wand so I could turn it off there.  I found one, but it leaked so bad that it was getting my pants wet.  The next solution was to get a new faucet.  I found one in the garage.  Trying to find all of the parts I needed, I made six or so trips back to the garage.

I removed the old one.

Then put in the new one.  I turned it off and turned on the water valve in house two.  The new faucet worked perfectly.  I got three bags ready for basil, radishes, 

I spent the last part off the day moving the root control bags south of house six.  The photo shows the cart, two bags and the pile of potting soil.  I counted nearly 150 bags.  I think I moved about thirty of them. 

The temp has been set at 45 degrees. I changed it to a lower temperature.  I went out tonight (9:00) to check the temps.  The furnace had just turned on and the temp was 39 degrees.  I should sleep tonight without being concerned about house five.  I leave the water running in houses two, four, and six so pipes won't freeze.
