Two Totes

I was up in time for the news.  Elizabeth fixed most of the breakfast.  I had old fashion oatmeal mush left over from yesterday.  After breakfast Elizabeth and I went out to greenhouse five and began to pick peas.

We were almost finished picking peas.  I had Elizabeth pose for this picture.
This my pose when I had Elizabeth take this picture.
We got two totes full of peas.  Elizabeth made us a hot lunch.
After lunch Elizabeth and Carol are shelling peas. Carol blanched the peas. cooled them off in cold water and put them on four cooky sheets and then put them in the freeze. I took the weed eater and cut weeds on the front and in the dry garden.  A couple of hours they were put in gallon freezer bags and then into the freezer.

Elizabeth fixed us super which was left over from lunch.

Next Corn Crop

It was late when I got up this morning.  I weighted, showered, said my prayers, and shaved.  Carol was up much later.  Elizabeth was up much later.  I prepared breakfast.  After breakfast Elizabeth and I went out to the south garden.  Elizabeth made two more rows.  She planted two more rows of "peaches and Cream" sweetcorn,

She put four kernels of corn seed in each hill.  Here she is using the hoe handle to push the seeds under the soil.
We bought a few groceries at the Fillmore Market. We stopped at Cluff's for lunch.   This is interesting to see a Utah 1949 black license plate. Elizabeth is giving me a smile.
Here is the plate.

Elizabeth

Today is the day to pick up Elizabeth in Pioneer Park in Provo.  We met Lisa and Elizabeth at the park.  On the way to the restrooms, we saw this woman asleep on the sidewalk,

This is about eleven this morning.
We drove up to the hill side of east Provo where we looked over Provo.
The Provo temple has been raised. The above picture shows the construction site.  There was a lot of heavy construction equipment.
It is pretty hot in green house five when we got home.
This may be part of a sun set.
I was doing nothing in the house.  I got the weed eater out and began to cut the weeds in the north garden.
A week or so ago I pulled up this weed that have seeds that blow in the wind.  After I pulled it, it flowered.  After inspecting it the seeds had not matured.
I cut down the weeds that were growing behind the truck.

Dinner

It was a little late when I got up this morning.  I turned on the morning news and Carol got up and reported that the flag was posted.  She did her hair.  I watered the hanging baskets.   I then went back in the house and got my phone and took a picture of flag of the United States of America when a breeze came opened the flag.

This one of the best flag pictures that I have ever taken.   Yesterday Carol made a potato salad.  I went out to greenhouse five to do some watering. While I was gone Carol took the potato salad to the park.  We watched a couple TV shows.  It was nearly twelve when we went to the park.  We paid $30 to have the flag posted on the holidays.  We paid $8.00 each to eat some of the food that we donated.  I am not complaining.   The money is used to help pay for the activities of the young men and young women in the ward.
I asked the lady on the other side of the table to take a picture of Carol and me.  We then drove to the Sutherland cemetery where we put flowers on the graves of my parents, and David who lived one day before he passed away, We then drove to the Delta cemetery where we put flowers on the graves of Sampson grandparents.
I went out to plant the carrots.  There were so many weeds there I decided to dig them up.  I put them in a pile and put them in the compost.
I put the carrot seeds in a small bucket of potting soil.  I then gave it a good stirring and scattered the material in the raised bed.

The raised bed before planting the seeds.

Provo Cemetery

It was about 4:30 when we left Holden to Provo cemetery.  It had rained some during the night. I walked to the end of the sidewalk and took a picture of the front porch.  The basket on the east of left really took a beating.

I was standing on the porch when I took this picture of the wet sidewalk.  It was raining most of the way to Provo, however. there were a few dry places.    Once in Provo we drove directly to the cemetery.  Lisa, Eric, and Elizabeth were there before we got there.  We parked directly behind Lisa's car.  We then found the headstone of Carol's mother and father. I tried to get as many pictures as I could.  Robert and Jeanne met us there.

From left to right:  Elizabeth, Lisa, Robert, Carol, and Merrill.
Another snapshot.
This is the headstone of Carol's mother and father. The flowers in the middle were from our yard.  I cut them this morning before we left home.

Carol and Elizabeth are filling the vase with flowers.
Another picture of flower arrangement.

This picture shows Eric gray in the background.
Lisa and Elizabeth.  After the cemetery, we ate lunch at the Golden Coral.
It rained most of the way home.  Sometimes it was raining so hard that the windshield wipers were turned up to the highest setting.  The are hailstones the size of large peas south of our back porch.
