Max Wood Funeral

We went to the funeral for Max Wood.  We went through the line and visited with family members.  The casket was closed.  Max had cancer sores all over his face.  After the funeral we came home and had some lunch.  After lunch I started to rake the leaves.  That was quite tiring.  I got the blower and blew the leaves into piles.  I raked them on a worn out tarp and carried them to various places in the garden.

We had over fifty kids at the door for candy
A pile of leaves in the garden.
Most of the leaves are gone.

The Bryce Funeral

After breakfast,  I opened the doors of house five and six.  We then changed to our Sunday clothes and drove to American Fork for the funeral.  We had the church address but couldn't find it.   Lisa Called saying that she would be able to come because of the reaction that she had to the Covid shot received a couple of days ago.  She went online with a may of where we needed to go and where we were.  We went into the relief society room where Bryce's body was laying in the beautiful crafted wood casket. We then went to the chapel where other family members.

We were there for nearly and hour visiting with other family member while waiting for the funeral to start.  There was a hymn, a prayer and the usual funeral comments.  Most of the speaker did not talk loud enough to hear they didn't speak directly into the mike.  Richard was there.  We went out to the car to get Richards mail.  Carol came to the car.  I took the following pictures of big trucks that were driven by Bryce's friends.

These two truck were parked near the entrance to the parking lot.  The one on the right ist the one that Bryce drove.
The following photo show the trucks following the Hearse as they left the church.

Carol's legs hurt so much that we went straight home.  We did stop at Wendy's for a diet cokes and French fries.  We got home about three.

Shot and Apple Sauce

This morning was pretty usual.  Shower, shave, Book of Mormon, boiled egg, made old
fashion oat mush.
The mums have not frozen and are really pretty.  I cut them and brought them in to Carol.  She arranged them and put them in the vase.   At the top right is are the apples that Carol washed and we are getting them ready for making apple sauce.
This afternoon Carol and I went to the county health clinic to get our booster shot.  I had one of the ladies there take the picture.  We got our shots in the left arm.  We didn't have to wait before we left.
When we got home we prepared the apples for sauce.  The apple peeler that we have made pretty quick work.   We then cooked them for about twenty minutes.  We ground them into a sauce in the food processor.  Carol filled nine pint bottles.  They were processed for twenty minutes.

Dermatologist

Last night we had omelets..  Carol cooked all of the components of omelet. There were a few things left over.  I put all of the parts in the bowel and stirred. I put in two eggs and made one omelet.  I then cut it in half.  Carol got one half and I ate the other one.

I did this pumpkin yester day.
This one was done this morning.  I left out all of my tools from last night.  This was the last one and I did it before lunch this morning.  I used my jigsaw to cut off the lid.  The I used three different spade bits for the eyes and mouth.  I cut the holes with the spade bits and the jigsaw to make the holes bigger.  I finished and took them outside on the front porch.  I took the tools to the garage and put them away.  There was pumpkin parts and dust all over the kitchen.  I clean it all up and swept the floor.
I had an appointment with the dermatologist.   He froze the soars on my face and ears.  I won't need to come back until next year. I got the picture of the Revere Offices.  They have the Halloween atmosphere.
The is a picture of the burning bush next to the the Revere Health building. They have been pretty this fall.
This afternoon I gathered all of the tomato plants and stacked them on the tomato plant compost pile.
The carrots have been really good this fall.  I uncovered and dug these beauties.  I washed them and put them in a gallon zip bag.  They are in the fridge.
The three pumpkin on the front porch.  They are pretty.

Wrong Appointment

This morning there was a couple of inches of snow on the lawn.  Not much on the sidewalk.  I turned on the TV and there was no signal.  I put on my work shoes and scraped the snow off the dish.  That didn't help any.  Later I scrape the little bit of snow that I missed earlier.  The TV finally began to work.

A couple of pictures of house four with the hanging hemp plants covered with snow.  They have been hanging to dry out.
This photo looking directly the the east door of house four.  With cold temperature it will take a long time for them to dry out.  Carol had an appointment at Revere health building for a heart check up.  I went to state bank while Carol went inside.  I came back and she was still waiting.  Some where along the line someone forgot to tell the heart specialist.  On the way home we stopped at the store for some groceries.  After lunch began to carve the pumpkins.

I looked at a lot of jack-o-lantern pictures on the internet and came up with a pumpkin carved to look like the above picture.  I drew the design on the pumpkin with a black marker.  It took quite awhile to remove all of the seeds.
This pumpkin was really hard.  I used a jigsaw to cut out the top to make a lid.  I used a drill with three different sizes of spade bits to make the eyes, nose, and mouth.  I cut a tree branch to make a handle.  I also cut some of the bottom so it would sit up straight.

Dead Tomato Plants

Watered all of the house plants this morning and later I watered the two hanging baskets on the front porch.

I worked all morning digging up the tomato plants.  First I moved the short conduit pieces that held the tomato cages from dipping over because of the heavy tomatoes.  I then trimmed the tomato vines that were growing over and through the cages.   Next I pulled of the tomato cages.  The last thing was pulling up the tomato vines.  Some could pull up and others I had to dig up.  Putting the vines in the compost pile was the last thing I did with the tomato vines.

This photo shows part of the process of removing the vines.  I put water on the seven foot conduit which made it easier to pull them out of the ground.  I used the vice grip to twist and pull them.  There were some pieces of oak sticks that held the plants up.  I had used the shovel to get them out of the ground.
The pitchfork made it easy to put them in the compost pile.
I got a couple of pictures three kittens in the lilac tree.  They love to climb the trees.
Here is a close-up photo of one of the kittens.  No one came to the nursery to work today.  I rolled up the two frost protection fabrics and put them away.   I opened the doors this morning and closed this evening.  I has been warm outside all day long.  I wore my jacket when I started, but soon took it off.  I later brought it into the house.

Going to Church

I did my reading from the Book of Mormon this morning.  I a short comment and posted it on Face Book.  We attended our church meeting and had dinner with chicken, potatoes and gravy, and frozen peas from the garden.

Rested, watched TV, and ate snacks.

Workers of Hemp

Saturday morning.  After breakfast I watched my woodworking shows.  The guys and gals had an early start with the hemp.

They are harvesting the hemp flower buds.
It been raining a little.  I brought the tractor to the north door of house three last night.  I drove inside this morning.
I picked all of these Richard Delicious apples from the same tree.  I took one of the nursery cans and gave it to the hemp workers.

Tractor Runs

I washed these dalhias yesterday and put them in house five for the night..

This morning I cut off the short stems.  One stem for the purple dahlias was left.  That root was a little redish.
I cut apart the pallet and saved the 3/4 pieces.  Two of the long pieces I left.  I might be able to save them later.  It is hard to pull out the nails.
I found one more Topaz melon in the garden.
I cut it open and cleaned out the seeds.  I cut one half in half again.  It was really sweet.  I ate the other half this evening.
There was a small watermelon half in the fridge.  It had been in there for nearly two weeks.  I ate a little bit, but quit,  It didn't taste good.  I through it away in the garden.
I couldn't get the tractor started yesterday.  I charged it for over an hour, but still would start.  I drove to Fillmore and bought a new battery.
I put all of the dahlia tubers in this number 15 nursery can.  I put the tubers in and them added some soil.  I shuck the pot and put in more dahlias.  I got them all in.   I couldn't hardly lift it on to the cart.
I put it in garage for the winter.  I will prune some of the tubers and plant them back in the garden in the spring.
Shane's hemp guys are harvesting the hemp.
Some of Shane's gals are doing the same.
The tractor still would start.  I tightened one of the battery cables and I was able to start it.  I drove it to the north end of house three.  I wanted to take out the old walker lawn mower.  The tires were flat and rotted.  I powered up the compressor.  The air would stay in the tire.

Finished Delicious & Big Beef Tomatoes

Shortly after breakfast was over, we took the garbage out to the dump.

I opened the trunk and got this picture.  I then put the trash in one of the dumpsters.

When we got home, I put on my jacket and finished removing the twine and tomato clips from the tomato plants.  It was nearly one when I finished and went in for lunch.
I put the old tomato clips in the azeluia pot.  I never reuse them most are broken and the rest may break next year.
The tiller has been out in the garden since spring.  I used it to till the garden.
The tractor has been in the far south port of our yard all summer.  It was such a warm day so I put one the battery charger.  I planned to charge it for an hour and then start it up and park it north of house five.  I could take it inside in the winter and start it when there was snow.
I got busy digging up the dahlias.  I cut off the long stems and then dug all of them up.  There was so much soil on them that I put them on one of the two wheel cart and the put them on the front lawn east of the sidewalk.  There is not water because I shut of the well.  I hooked a hose onto the tap that has city water.  It took two hoses from that tap to the front lawn.
I washed them and washed them again and again and removed most of the soil.  I put the cart and Dalhias in house five to keep them from freezing.  Tomorrow I will trim off the rest of the stems and put them in buckets of moist potting soil.  The will be safe in the garage.   It was nearly dark when I shut the greenhouse doors and pull the charging  plug.  I can start the tractor around noon tomorrow.

Provo Temple

As soon as breakfast was over, I walked out to house five.  I went around to the east door.  It was cold outside and also cold inside of house five.  The thermostat was at forty-five.  Everything inside looked good.

We got dressed in our Sunday best and drove to the Provo Temple.  We had a hard time finding it.  We drove through the BYU campus.  Finally we got on 9th east and then drove right to the temple.  We parked in a handicapped spot which was as short walk to the temple.

We were there to do sealings.  We had an enjoyable time with the sealer and other patrons.

Before we left,  I took the picture of the Provo Temple.
We drove to the home of Miles and Nyleen Batty to deliver the basket of potatoes and a couple of sweet potatoes.

Miles also cut my hair.  One the way home we stopped at Sam's Club for dry cat food and other items.  We then drove to the Payson Wal Mart where we bought some candy.  When we got home, it was a little after four.  Carol fixed us tomato sandwiches.  We then had some ice cream.

The our plants in house five looked good.  I gave them a little more water.   I took a chair out to the garden so I could sit while removing the twin and tomato clips from the tomato plants.

New Furnace

A regular morning.  Scriptures, Breakfast, and Greenhouses.  Andrew Brown called and said that he would be here to install the new furnace 8:30 to 9:00.  He didn't get here until eleven.  I took out the two wheeled cart.  Andrew and his helper loaded the furnace on the cart.  He pulled it to house five.  They removed all of the wirering, gas connection, and the chimney from the old furnace.  That took some time.  They removed the packing material and put it on the metal frame where the old was.

They put the new furnace on its side on the frame.  They made a new hole for the chimney.  It was to high.  We pulled away the wood that was underneath which lowered the furnace.  They then put the chimney through the hole.  They made other adjustments.

The above photo shows the new position of the chimney. It took a few more adjustments before it was securely fasten to the east wall of the greenhouse.

The old furnace moved out of the way.  It soon will be at the dump.
I uncovered the plants that were laying on the ground.  They were in good condition.  I rolled up the piece of weed barrier leaned it against the inside west wall.
Shane helped me stand up the palm tree. We pulled it out of the pot and put in new soil so it would stand straight.  We put in to much soil.  We took some out and it is standing pretty straight by leaning against the door header.
There was a three foot wide piece of weed barrier that was at least a hundred feet long.  I laid it on the back lawn.  I was able to fold it several times and then roll up the last little bit.  A piece of twin is holding it from unrolling.
The Mike Blazard garage is nearly finished.
The furnace was on this pallet.  I started to take it apart and use the wood.  I gave up.   I couldn't pull out the nails.
