Organize House Three

Sabath Day

NOTE:      It says that this was published today, 31 January 2022, but I wrote it yesterday,  30 January 2022

I was up several time during the night, but today it was about 5:15 when I got up.  I read another chapter from The Book of Mormon.  I fed the cats which is a morning and evening chore.  We got some potatoes and carrots ready for dinner. We then had breakfast.  I went out to house five.  The furnace and the grow lights were on.   We went to sacrament meeting and the fifth Sunday meeting.

There is a puzzle on the kitchen table that took most all of table.  I put up a card table in the middle of the kitchen floor.

It looked a little strange to have a card table in the middle of the floor for a Sunday dinner.  Carol was sitting on a bench on the other side of the table.

After dinner we watched different TV programs during the rest of the day.  Carol and I went for a little ride around town.

Germinating Tomato Seeds

This morning after breakfast, I watched chanel seven wood working shows.  There was a new show at nine that showed a couple building a house and talking about building a house.  It may be interesting.

I began to plant the thirty celebrity tomato seeds.  All of them had germinated.  There were several six packs that was planted weeks ago that nothing had germinating.
The shows the zip bag that has been on top of the fridge for a week or more.  I looked at them every day, and sometimes several times a day.  white radical is easy to see.  Some cannot be seen because it is under the seed.
Here I took the paper towel out of the bag.   The radical is much more noticeable.
Here are five six packs.  One has a geranium plant.  I in the other cells I planted one tomato seed in each cell.
There is an electronic device that measure the humidity, temperature, and the high and low temperature. It quite working.  I took out the battery and put in a new one.  Now it is working really well.
Here is a good photo that I took in the afternoon.
Carol put a puzzle on the table that has 2,000 pieces, that covered most of the table.  I suspect that it will take her a week to complete it.

Payson Temple

We had our regular breakfast.  As soon as it was over I put on my suit, which yesterday I picked it up at the cleaners.  I got my temple clothes ready.  Carol got ready.  It was a little after eight when we drove out of town.  We stopped at the post office to mail a letter.  The lady at the post office was outside putting the flag out for the day.  She took our letter and went into the post office.

We went streight to the temple.  There was a handicapped parking spot right in front of the temple.  We parked there.  Carol took my left arm as we walked to the door.  We put on our masks and went to the recommend desk.  There was a couple in front of us.

there was a sister on at a recommend desk.  She motioned us in her direction.  We showed her our recommends and entered the temple.  This is the first time in my years of temple attendance that a sister could accept a recommend.  Carol and I parted to the dressing rooms.  I went to the elevator to go up to the chapel.  The elevator door opened.  I went in and pushed the up button.  I saw Carol as she approached the elevator.  I pushed a couple of buttons to stop it.  She walked into the elevator, and we went up to the next level.  We set near the back of the chapel.  There were only a few patrons there.  We waited nearly thirty minutes for the session to start.  When it started, the was nearly thirty patrons.  When we left the celestial room, there was a sister near the exit, whom I recognized.  Myrna Stanworth, she was a high school classmate.  The last time I saw was in the Manti Utah temple last year.

After the session we put on our street clothes and met again in the waiting area.

We drove around trying to find a road where there was a light.  We found it and went to Wendys.

were we got a couple of hamburgers, two orders of fries and a diet Pepsi.   We ate them while we drove home.

We had been home for quite a while.  I went for a walk.  I went north on 100 west and stopped in front of Mike Blazzard's big shop.  He was working in it.  He explained a few things about it.  I continued north and then turned east and walked past Nixon's old barn and then his new shop.
Above is a photo I took of the old barn.  Inside were some old equipment.  I then walked the rest of the way home.

Problem with Garage Door

I went to the post office and picked up the mail.  I tried to locate a phone number of the cleaners who had my suit.  I looked in the white pages and yellow pages under the following topics.  Cleaners, Laundry, dry cleaners.  We finally got the name of the owners, but we couldn't find that name in the phone book.  It was a little after ten when I drove to Fillmore.  I stopped at Ropers and got some White WD-40.  It is recommended in the manual to lubricate the garage door hinges and other parts.  I then went to the cleaners.  The door was open.  The lady in there gave me my suit. I then wrote a check for the amount and came home.

After lunch, I watched the You Tube video several times, which showed me what to do.  I lubricated a lot of the door parts.  I then applied the white WD-40 at several places.  I run the door up and down several times and could quickly see the problem.

One of the runners that followed the track was broken.  I looked in the manual that came with the door and the broken part was not listed.  It needs to be taken off and welded.

This is another view of the broken hinge.

There was a surprise in house five.  Two tomato plants had germinated.  One tin the left bottom cell and the other one was in the bottom right cell.  It looks green.

New Minister

News, feed cats, breakfast, and post office.  After the post office, I walked out to house five where I shut off the fans.  I watered the geraniums.  I stopped at house three on the way.

Her one of our orange cats was keeping warm in house three.
In house three I moved a small step ladder some and there was a tee post driver that I haven't seen for over two years.  It is the middle one in the above photo.  I cut the trailer axel that was no good into two pieces.  The long one and short one is the result of that cutting.  The one on the bottom was made by my friend.   After lunch I went for a walk.  I walked three blocks north, one block east, and then three blocks south.  I got pretty tied walking east because it was up hill.  I rested some and then walked home.

I was assigned to be Jac Stephenson's minister.  I drove to his house and visited with him for about a half hour.

Later this evening I made omelets.  Carol prepared the bacon, onions, bell peppers, and cheese.  They were good.

Surprise This Morning

When I opened the back door and fed the cats, I was surprised to see about an inch of snow on top of the garage.  As it got lighter, it was still snowing.  After breakfast, I began to push of the snow.  I measured a little more than two inches of snow,

My back was against the garage door when I took this photo of the driveway.  It shows the driveway and the house across the road.  The town has plowed the streets.
The same photo direction, but shows the driveway cleared of snow.  I did the sidewalk and the steps by the front door.  By evening, the roads were completely dry.  They plowed but snow covered when I went to the post office.  Salt was spread on main street and was pretty slushy.
I quickly made a path from the back door to house five.  Most of the snow in the path had melted by the end of the day.
The tomato seeds that I planted in house five are doing nothing.  I emptied the seed package and put the seeds on a wet paper towel and inserted them into a zip bag, and put them on top of the fridge to watch them germinate.  There were thirty seeds in the package.  As soon as they germinate, I will plant them in six packs.
I label it as Jan. 18, but it should be Jan. 25.
We had much success with Celebrity tomatoes last year, and hope for the same next year.
Several potatoes are coming up now.  I put the pruners by the potato stems so I could see them. They are still not big enough to see.
I found this tee post driver in house three.  I haven't seen it for several years.

Shopping in Fillmore

This morning at about nine, we drove to Fillmore.  We took a gift for Andrea Browne's baby who is due in a couple of weeks.  I called Dusten Smith to find out where they lived.  He told me where he lived.  We drove past his house and then turned around and stopped in front of a house that we thought was his.  I rang the doorbell, and a woman came to the door.  I had no idea who she was, but she invited me in.  She said that we were at the right place.  Dusten came into the room.  I gave him the gift bag which contained the gift for her baby.  We visited a few minutes.

Our next stop was at the cleaners.  I had a two-piece suit in a large plastic that was in a bad need of being cleaned.  I picked up a price card and came back to the car for a pen.  I wrote my name and phone number on the card, put the card in the bag and dropped it in the clothes shoot.

We got a bunch of groceries at the Fillmore Market.  We met a friend in the market that we haven't seen for a long time.  At one time she lived in the house across the street from us.  She told us where she was building a house.  We drove up there where there are a lot of new homes being built.

Just before lunch I went out to house five.  Some of the geraniums are getting quite large.

The above photo shows the best group of geraniums.
I pulled weeds in the root control bag where I planted potatoes.  I uncovered a potato stem.  It is barely visible.  A pretty lazy day the rest of the afternoon.  This evening, more TV time.

Church

This morning it was shower, prayers, shaving, reading from the Book of Mormon, feeding the cats, and then breakfast.  After breakfast, I made tapioca pudding, read the priesthood meeting assignment.  It was about 9:45 when we went to church.  We both wore our masks.  The speakers were good.  The mom and dad and five children.

Priesthood meeting was a little slow in getting started.  He did a power point presentation which took fifteen to twenty minutes to get set.  He had a problem with screaming feed-back, and finally got a pretty good discussion.

We came home for a good Sunday dinner.  We watched some TV, napped some and watched more TV.

Quick Trip to Fillmore

After breakfast I watched the Saturday morning woodworking shows.  Both shows were a review of twenty-nine years of the shows.  Age comparison of how the actors looked when the show started and how they looked today.

There were several containers of garbage in the house.  I dumped several of them in the large bag in the garage.  I tied it up and put it in the trunk of the car.  There were several other garbage containers that I also put in the car.  I pulled up to the dump and put them in the large dumpsters.  The above photo is our garbage in one of the dumpsters.  I then drove to the post office and picked up the mail.

The above photo is of the cactus that I repotted yesterday.
This is the one I repotted this afternoon.  I couldn't get it out of the old pot.  I had to break it.  I then put I in the new pot pictured above.
We then drove to Fillmore where we filled the car with gas at the Love gas station.  This is the first time that I bought gas at Loves.  We then bought ice cream cones.  I placed my order then had to wait.  The above photo is the order counter.  The drive-up was closed, so I had to go inside to order.  Carol had a large chocolate cone, and I had a large vanilla cone.

Bedroom Clean-up

20 January Thursday, Yesterday

It was about 9:30 when we drove to the Payson Walmart.  We needed a couple of baby gifts.  One for Emly's baby who is a week old and Hallie's baby who will be born next month. Lisa, who met us at Walmart had gift wrapping materials.  We wrapped them while standing in the cold breeze.   We finished shopping and we were had over an hour before we would inter the Payson temple.   Lisa took us to Oriental eating place where we had a good lunch.  We then drove to the Payson temple which was less than a mile away.  We were still a little early for our session.  We waited in the chapel.  A temple worker started the next session.  It wasn't our session, and we were the only ones in the chapel.  A worker invited us to go on that session.  We walked into the session room and sit down in the back.  Carol was on the left side with the sisters, and I was on the right.  After the session we stopped at Costco for gas.  We then stopped at the Red Barn for ice cream.  I got Carol a soft cone which was so soft that they put it in a cup.  I got a medium ice cream cone that also was soft and was clinging to the side of my cone.  By the time I finished eating it my hands were really sticky.  It was four by the time we got home.  All in all, it was a good day.

21 January 2022 Friday, Today

This morning after breakfast

A couple of days ago we cleaned all of the junk that was on top of Carol's dresser.  I shouldn't say junk, because there was some good stuff there.  Today, we emptied the two dresser drawers.  These had a lot of junk.  There were bank statements that were over ten years old.  There were blank checks that were torn out of her check book.  There were also some scouting items.  One drawer contained a lot of old worn-out garments.  There are two more drawers. We thought we would wait until another day to do them.

Carol has a couple of small cacti that needs to be in a larger pot.  I took a pot and cactus out to house five.   I remove the soil from the pot and put in recycled soil in the bottom.  The I put the original soil back in the pot, stuck in the cactus, and filled it with water.  I picked up the pot and put my hand over the top with the cactus between my fingers and drained out the water.

It is Carol's birthday today.  We were home all day.  All of our children called, some friends called, and a bunch of grandkids called.

Finished Box

This morning at 8:30. I drove to Fillmore at the Revere Health office.  I needed a glucose test and a pee test.  I didn't have to wait long.  I then came home and begin working on the file box for Carol.

I turned the box on its side which makes it look like a shelf.  I put glue on the underside of the shelf and put it on the rails.  I weight on the shelf holds the shelf until the glue sets.  That would take at least a half hour.
I came back some time later and glued the next shelf with a larger weight on it.  I trimmed off the rough edges on sides, ends, and bottoms.

Later, I sanded it with and orbit sanders.  I then glued on two handles, one on each side. The last thing was to blow off the dust with my electric blower.
We took it in to Carols bedroom.  She had lot of stuff on her dresser.  She went through all of it.  Some she threw away.  Some she put in folders and labeled the tab.  There was a three-ring binder that contained our last will and testament.  There are some drawers that contains papers that she will file away at another day.
Carol put this beautiful puzzle of the Savior and the Lambs.  The message is that the Savior is the Lamb of God.  This five-hundred-piece puzzle took her several days.  I worked in house five while I let the glue set.
I moved three root control bag two buckets at a time.  It took me three trips to haul them out to the potting soil pile south of house six.
You can't tell from this picture, but it looks like there are two tomato plants that are germinating.   One is the bottom left and corner of the cell.

Working on Box

This morning after breakfast we drove to Fillmore for some groceries and to fill the car with gas.  As soon as we got home,0 I started work on the filing box.

Saturday afternoon I glued one side of the box to the bottom.  I held it upright with a heavy gear.
Here is a closer look at it.  There is a heavy weight behind it.
This morning I put glue on all edges and then clamped it all together using the lightweight clamps.  I put a cement block in the middle to hold the box from sliding around.
Here is another picture of the weights.   Some of the glue is running down one of the edges.
I glued these pieces on both sides.  Divider panels will be glued to them.  That will make three compartment to hold file folder.  The tabs will stick up above the dividers.

Cold Monday

Carol wants a filing box for the last will and testament and a few other documents.  I started getting materials ready.

I went into house three and got sheet of plywood panels.  I cut off a piece on a line that on the right side of the square hole.
