Pruned Orchard

The phone rang this morning and it was Robert.  He and Jeanne will be here about eleven to prune the fruit trees.

The above photo the the beautiful red bud tree.  It is in full bloom.
Robert is at the top of the ladder pruning the peach tree.
Jeanne is picking up the pruned branches.  They were hauled to the front lawn to to be put on the truck.
I believe this is the golden delicious apple tree.
This could be the Gala apple tree.
I can't tell on this one.
I believe this is a peach tree.
This is an Apple tree.
This is Richard Delicious tree.  We cut a lot of branches out of this tree.

We hauled all of the branches to the dump.  This is the third load.

Just before Robert and Jeanne left,  we walked through the garden where Jeanne cut the asparagus.  I put the cuttings in a zip bag.  Robert is holding rhubarb  and the asparagus

Rhubarb

This morning I began spraying weeds.   I looked all over for the back-pack sprayer.  I couldn't find it in house three, even I looked there three different times.  Shane helped me look for it.  I hadn't looked in the shed.  It was there.  I took it to the patio and filled it three times.

I sprayed at the back of the north garden.  At the back of the south garden, and in the orchard.

The Rhubarb is ready to harvest.  I cut a lot of stalks and trimmed off the leaves.

I took a bunch of stalks over to Ann's house.  They really like rhubarb.

Here is a clump of large asparagus.  I pick them and had about half of it for lunch.

This afternoon brought over the fertilizer spreader and cleaned it up.  It had one flat tire and I didn't think that it would hold are long enough to empty the fertilizer spreader.
The  Mahonia repens (Creeping Mahonia) has pretty flowers.
I got the other spreader.  It was dirty and some of the controls were rusted into one position.  I cleaned it up and used WD-40 to unfree the fertilizer flow control.

Quick Trip to Lindon

We drove to Lindon, Utah this morning.

I got a picture of the Eight Mile mountains.  The got more snow a couple of days ago.

On the way we stopped at Costco for gas and to have my ink cartridge refilled.  We got gas and Carol waited in the car while I went into the store.  They don't fill ink cartridges any more.

We then went to Sam's Club and got stocked up with needed supplies.  We then went to Lindon to visit with the Nyleen and Miles Batty.  Nyleen was not home.  We had a short visit with Miles.  We then drove over to Carol's brother, Gary,  We had a visit with him.  Chris Peay was there.  He cancer of the colon.  He has recovered some but still can't do much.

On the way home we stopped at the Payson Walmart.  We bought some food to make some sandwiches.  We ate them on the way home.  I bought an HP printer.  After I unloaded the car, I began to put the printer together.  It was pretty hard.  After watching a couple of You Tube videos, I was able to print a "Printer information page.  I couldn't print anything from my lap top.

The Family Doctor

Carol was putting the cat puzzle away.  I wanted to get a picture of it but I was to late.  The next best thing was to take the picture of the puzzle picture.

The cat puzzle.  We worked on it most of the day yesterday.
The Hula Petunia seeds are germinating.  I took off the cookie sheet that helped to keep them moist.

Carol had an appointment with Doctor Gross.  I went in with her.  We waited some for the Doctor to come in.  Carol told him about the reaction that she had to the infusion procedure last month.  She got a prescription.  After we got the groceries and came home.  After lunch I watered our plants in house five.  Shane was there.  He is getting ready for a whole bunch of new hemp seedlings.
The crab apple trees in Holden and Fillmore are in full bloom.  The above photo is the crap apple tree in our yard.
This is the stool that I sit on at the kitchen table.  I makes a lot of noise when ever we slide it around.  I was going to buy something at Roper's to attach to the bottom of the legs.  Carol suggested gluing felt to the bottom of each leg.  I now slides against the tile without making the noise.

It rained some today, but not nearly as much as yesterday.

Puzzle

We went to sacrament meeting this morning.  It was the first time in a year since we have been.  It was good to take the sacrament, listen to the speakers, and great some friends that we haven't seen for over a year ago.  For dinner we had Chicken stir fry.  It tasted really good.

I got a picture of potato plant in house five.  It is growing buds.  It wont be long until thee are flowers and then potatoes.
I cut some asparagus Sunday morning.  Carol cooked half of the supper.  I buttered and salted them and ate them for super.  Very good.
I found this ant and put it in the sink and took a couple of pictures.
I prepared four trays of geraniums getting them ready to transplant sometime at the end of the week.  I fertilize them with Miracle Gro.  Some are in 3.5 square pots.  Others are 2.5 inch square pots.
Here are those that need to grow some more.

We got a puzzle of cats.  We started it yesterday and spent most of the day finishing it.  Carol is a fast jig-saw puzzle putting together.  I helped a whole bunch.

It has rained all day.

The Trailer

Most of the morning was watching my wood working shows and a trip to the post office.  I watered all of the plants in the garage greenhouse.

I watered all of our plants in house five.  The potatoes are really doing well.  Several of them have buds.  It will be interesting to see the new potatoes and how big they get.
Shane and Dustin borrowed my trailer.  They were getting a trencher to make some trenches for Justin.  I got this picture when they brought it back.
I wanted to get a photo of house five.  They took all of the hemp plants several days ago.
The water was running and there was a pump keeping the fertilizer mixed.  I shut of the water and pulled the pump plug.

Weeds Begone

I walked out to house five to see how our plants are doing.

The potato plants ae doing extremely well.  At least it looks like it.  The vines are sixteen to eighteen inches tall.  I have no idea how they look below the soil.
There were a lot of corn stalks laying on the ground left over from last years corn.  I gathered it up and pile in on the compost pile.
This is the pile.  It is a section on the west end between the north and south gardens.
I started up the tractor.  The engine would not at full throttle.  The throttle lever sliding back.  I hooked a stretch cord to the throttle and the other end to wire on the tiller cover.  I was able to till at full speed.
I went up and down on the same row till as deep as it would go.  I will be planting two sweet corn varities.  Early Sungrow and Jubilee.
I reset the tiller depth and went back and forth and dug up all of the weeds.  I used the shovel to dig up the large weeds and grasses.
I piled up more corn stalks and other weeds.
I tilled and raked up all the weeds on the south side of the shed.  I made a large pile next to the west fence.
I turned on the water to water the grape plants.  The pipe had frozen and broke in several pieces.  I cut it off and took it the patio.
Here you can see how the broken parts fit together.  I looked all over trying to find the two pieces.  I needed a tee and an ell.  I found the ell, but couldn't find the 3/4 tee.  I think I looked for over and hour.  I finally found one.  I glue the parts together and screwed in the hose bibs.
I glue the piece to the upright stub.  I will turn the water on in the morning.
There is a elder berry plant growing north of the shed.  I gave it a good drink

Rest of Potatoes

I watered the plants in house five.   I started pretty early in the garden.

I planted the last of the potatoes.  Last week we bought five pounds of potatoes.  I cut them into pieces.  I planted the row and used every one of the potatoes.  Towards the end of the row, they were pretty close together.  I then run water down the row.  I did it again a little later.
I brought over the hose and turned on the water.
The strawberry bed has a few plants that survived the winter.  The morning glory is beginning to grow.  I put the soft cat food cans of the weed and pressed it into the ground.  I am hoping that it will kill the morning glory.
I watered this small pine tree.  I also run water down each row in the south garden.  I hoped to run the tiller down each row to kill the weeds.  I also shoveled out other weeds.
I cut a nice batch of asparagus this evening.  Good eating tomorrow.

Planting Hula Hoop Petunias

When I picked up the mail was about 9:30.  Several of my friends were there.  It is at the post office where we meet.

I got my Hula hoop petunia seeds and prepared and prepared two 1206 trays.  The trays were at the shed.  I did them one at a time.

I put potting soil in the tray and then watered it.  I put more potting soil and watered again.  I did this one more time.  With my thumb I made a concave depression in each cell.
I used a tiny measuring spoon and put in a coated seed in each cell.  You can see each seed in the above cells.
I took them to the little garage green house and watered them with a mister.  They are on the heating mat. The sprinkler would wash the seeds away.   I covered them with the cookie sheets to prevent them from drying.  The mister is in the right corner.
The phlox is pretty.
This is the third tool that I found this spring.  I looked all over for this pipe wrench.  I left it on this tree basket last fall.
I planted potatoes.  I made a hole and put in the potato.  I made another hole and covered the potato.
I did this all the way down the row.  I run water down the row.
I removed the weed barrier in the hoop garden.  I then dug out the weeds on each side.  We have had Blue Lake pole here beans each year.  I will do it again.
Looking through the hoop house from the other end.
I covered my carrots last winter with this seafoam to keep them from freezing.  I tied them together with this orange twine.
I took two bundles of them to house three for the winter.
The asparagus has done really well.  There are three clumps that have been especially good.  I gave these to our neighbor, Ann Stephenson.

Tom Stephenson gave me these Mediterranean squash seeds over twenty years ago.  I don't know how long he had them before that.
I put a paper towel in a zip bag and put the seeds on top of the paper towel.  I then poured in some water.  It is a germination test.  If they germinate, I will plant them in the garden.
