Timpanogos Temple

No sleeping in this morning.  I got up at 5:15 AM.  I woke up earlier and couldn't get back to sleep.  I got up, showered, put on my Sunday clothes and then checked out computer news. I woke Carol up at six.  I didn't have time this morning to read from the Book of Mormon.   I fed the cats and started to get breakfast ready.  It was about seven when we left Holden.  We picked up Miles and Nyleen Batty, and then drove to the temple.

We had a nice session.  The session room was full.  Mostly with the women.  We went back to the Batty home.  We ate a piece of pumpkin pie.   On the way home we bought a few things at Sam's Club.  We got a few things at Walmart.  It was a little after three when we got home.
I picked some Topaz melons.  The large one in the bottom of the photo had a large rotten spot.
I dug up the rest of the melons.  They are in a large pile to dry out.
I was trying to save it, but when I cut into it, it was rotten the whole way.  I cut it in half and gave it to the chickens.
I cut a watermelon in half.  I took it into the house and took a taste of it.  I was very sweet.  I gave it to the chickens.
I gave the rotten Topaz melon to the chickens.  The chickens eat the seeds.

Spagatii Sauce

No sleeping in this morning.  I was up early, showered, and shaved.  I read the next chapter in the Book of Mormon.  Carol showered and did her hair while I was getting breakfast ready.  After breakfast we started to make Spagatii sauce.  The tomatoes were put in a blender.   We drove to Fillmore and bought a whole bunch of groceries.  The market had their case lot sale. They were then put in a large pot.  They were cooked for two hours.  I worked some in the garden while they were cooking.  After cooking, Carol put them in bottles and then put the bottles in a large pot.  They boiled for twenty minutes.

They went directly to the cooling board from the kettle.

Here they cooled for awhile.
Carol put on the labels.  And then they were put into the pantry.  I dug up a lot of the watermelon vines and put them in a pile.  I picked a large Topaz melon.  We will take it to the Batty's in the morning.
This is a photo of the hose bibb that I will move further to the south.
I found this dead cat on the south end of house three.  It has been there for quite a long time.  I have been in there quite often and haven't seen it before.  Some time ago there were two dead kittens which were killed by a dog.
This toolbox and tools belong to Carol's father, Leslie Peay.

Grapes & Rain

If I sleep in, I don't have time to read from the Book of Mormon.  If we are late in going to bed, I will usually sleep in.  After breakfast, I took seven Topaz melons to the post office and put in the "share your produce display."  I then began picking the grapes west of the hen house.  I found a whole lot more than I thought I would.   I finished filling the bucket with the grapes by the vines near the asparagus plants.

I took the grapes into the kitchen where Carol washed them and removed the stems and bad grapes.
I went back to the asparagus plants and filled the bucket with the grapes.
There were three batches of grapes.  We put the first batch in the steamer where we extracted the juice.  Because it was so hot, we had trouble getting the juice in the quart bottles.  Some juice was spilt on the floor, we did the three batches.
When we finished, we five quarts and on pint.  I cleaned the chicken's water bucket and filled it full of water.  I also cleaned the pellet bucket and filled with hen pellets.
Later in the afternoon, we had a pretty good rainstorm.  This a photo of the front porch and wet sidewalk.
The rain was running off the roof and falling into the buckets.

Sealing Payson Temple

I got up early this morning.  I showered, read from the Book of Mormon, and then later I shaved.  I fed the cats, and then prepared breakfast.   After breakfast I watered the plants on the front porch.  We drove to the Payson temple.  It was about 9:30 when we left Holden.  There wasn't any parking close by, so we had to walk some distance to the temple doors.  Carol was really tired.  We put on our temple clothes.  I met Carol on the third floor.

When we finished, we drove to Wendys and got two small hamburgers, an order of fries, and two diet Pepsis.   We bought some ice cream and then started for home.  We filled the car with gas in Nephi and then on home.
Carol filled the hummingbird feeder with sugar water.  It was nearly empty.
There was one large red pepper.  I tried to pick it, but it would not break off.  I got a pair of pruners and cut it loose.  This pepper was a handful.
This dark green melon is growing with my topaz melons.  I think that there was a seed in the ground left over from last year.
I picked seven topaz melons.  I cleaned them with the garden hose.
Here is seven melons.  Some large and some small.
This is the Alvera that transplanted last night.

The Swanee man mad a delivery this afternoon.  I gave him one of the topaz melons.  I also, took a melon to the people who live across the street.

More Topaz

I made three bowels of old fashion oatmeal mush.  I then discovered that there were two bowels in the fridge.  Now I have four bowels of old fashion oatmeal mush in the fridge.

This melon was picked nearly a week ago.  I removed the seeds and fed them to the chickens.  They ate all of them.  I cut each half into four parts.  I then cut off the flesh and put it into a bowl.  I ended up with a lot of melon pieces.  They didn't taste very good because they were quite warm.  After then have been in the fridge for couple of hours, they tasted much better.
I picked three more Topaz melons. I delivered two of them to two friends.  One friend was Carl Remkes.  He was walking across the room, tripped, and fell.  He made a bad scratch down the back of his left arm.  I bled and bled.  He finally got it stopped.
I picked some cucumbers.  One was way too big for eating.  One was just right for eating.  Carol peeled it and cut it into small strips.  I dipped each piece into salad dressing.  They were tender.  I cut the big one into halves and fed them to the chickens.  The last time that I looked, the chickens had touched them.
I picked a lot of beet greens several days ago. I cooked them for over an hour.  I covered them with melted butter, and I salted them.   They tasted good.  I took the above photo, but I was a little shaky.  This evening I took a melon to a neighbor that I haven't seen before.  Nobody answered the door.  I went back two other times, and no one was home.  I finally gave it to another neighbor.  A large Alvera plant got too big for the pot.  I put the large pieces in a bigger pot,
and the little pieces were put back in the original pot.

Sunday

This morning, instead of reading from the Book of Mormon, I read from the Book of Isaiah. We are studying the Book of Isaiah in our Sunday school class.

We didn't have breakfast, because it was fast Sunday.  I helped Carol get the food ready for Sunday dinner.
I emptied six pill containers.
I have four pill boxes that hold a month's supply of pills.  I lined them up in a row and put one day\s supply in each cell.
I filled the cat dishes with cat food and put them on the back porch.  Our cat dusty was sitting on the cat buckets.  He then started eating with is front feet in the frying pan and his back feet in the cat bucket.
I had an interview with my priesthood leader.  One the way home I drove past a neighbor's house and saw this large Topaz melon in the garage.  It had been there for nearly a week. Our neighbor as ben out of town. I drove up their driveway and brought the melon home.  We watched channel eleven videos.

This evening I went to the Millard Stake house where I participated in the stake music festival.  Carol didn't go because of her pain.  Our ward did a good job.  I talked to a couple of friends while there.  It was dark when I drove home.  It's been a long time since I have driven in the dark.

Melons Delivered

I woke up several times to go to the bathroom.      I planned on sleeping in a little longer but started thinking about problems associated with the coming of winter.  How will I water the chickens?  What are we going to do with the pomegranate bush?  When should I start the furnace in house five to grow our needed bedding plants?  These are a few things that keep me awake.  I soon got up, showered, shaved, and read from the Book of Mormon.  After breakfast I checked out the garden.

This Easter Lilly is blooming.
I dug some potatoes.  Some were a good size.  I cleaned some while in this bucket.
I picked these four Topaz melons sprayed them clean with the hose.  Later in the afternoon, I drove around town and delivered them to some of our friends.
Dusty, our cat, laid down near the chair that I was sitting on.  I took picture.

Planted Grass

I watched the morning news until it was time to go to the |post office which was 9:30. I spent some time in the garden.  After that I watched "the Walton's" on TV.   Carol fixed spaghetti for lunch which was very good.

The truck had some branches in the back.  I took it to the dump.  I planted grass seed at the home of Elisha Bills.  Carol and I then drove to Fillmore.  She got her prescription filled. We got a few groceries at the Fillmore Market.  We then came home.
Carol made some more zucchini bread.  We watched some more TV shows.  Elizabeth called we talked to her for over an hour.  I took a Topaz melon to the Richardsons.  They didn't answer the doorbell. I then put the melon in the garage which was open.  This is about it for today.

Timpanogos Temple

My light alarm turned on at 5:15 this morning.  I showered and put on my Sunday clothes.  I opened the door to Carol's bedroom.  She was awake and her severe pain kept her awake all night.  I fixed breakfast.

I took this picture after we were on our way.  It shows that the road was still wet from the rain that fell during the night.  We stopped at the Home of Miles and Nyleen Batty
This is a beautiful chrysanthemum east of their home.  We picked them up and drove to the Timpanogos Temple.  As we got closer to the temple, Miles began to look through his wallet for his temple recommend.  All that he could find was the holder for his recommend.  I parked the car in the temple parking lot. It was quite a walk back to the temple.  Nyleen looked at everything in his wallet and still no recommend.   The temple recorder is able to check if Miles has a current recommend.  He found that he had one.  He then let them in the temple.  It was a good session, and there were a lot of patrons.  We stopped at Sam's Club and bought a few things.  We also bought some gas and then drove streight home.
I picked these three melons.  I gave the one on the left to our neighbors across the street.  I saw him in his yard.  I then walked across the street and gave it to him.
I also picked these cucumbers.

Payson Temple

As soon as breakfast was over I walked out to the garden.  I picked two ripe Topaz melons, five or six burpless cucumbers.  I thought that I took a couple of pictures.  I checked my phone, and I couldn't find any,

It was a little after eight we left Holden to go to Payson.  We were there pretty early.  But it didn't take long for the chapel to fill.  We had a good session and headed for home.  We stopped Wendy's for two hamburgers, one order of fries, and two diet Pepsi's.  We stopped in Nephi for gas.  It was raining some, by the time we got to Mills.
Couldn't see the mountains because of the rain. The tall cell phone two was visible from the road.
Past Nephi it was raining pretty hard.  The windshield wipers were at full speed to keep the rain off the windshield.
Another picture going up to the Scipio summit from Scipio.
Carol washed the tomatoes.
I cleaned the seeds from the Topaz melons and put them on a newspaper to dry.  This evening we prepared Topaz melons, cucumbers, and tomatoes for the ward harvest dinner. The food was good.  It rained some during the dinner.  We spent the rest of the evening at home.
